Smooth shift !!

I think everyone is missing a rather serious point here, the hullabullo that the aussie media is creating and pontings statement that his players are very upset with the harbajhan verdict is all distractive strategy to steer away from the main issue, which was certainly the umpiring in the sydney test.If the BCCI was really all that smart, they should have targetted the umpiring issue then & there, if all those notorious (bucknor & benson) decisions that went against India were questioned, and contested(pls remember it wasn' just a stray mistake an umpire makes once in a while)The very outcome of the sydney test would have been different,BCCI should have used its so called 'clout' to make that test null and void! The series (which will go down in history as a victory for Australia) would have ended otherwise!THIS is what the Australians feared! and they played their cards very well. The racist issue got highlighted, the umpiring issue swept under the carpet!History will show they won 16 tests in a row & also a series victory, harbajhan issue will be forgotten! Real score:Cricket Australia=1, BCCI =0 !! Think about it! it was a smooth shift from what the Australians really FEARED!

I totally agree. As happened in South Africa, we should have got the results nullified, when it was patently cleared that there were 14 Australian and assisted players ( you can call them as Umpires also ) Vs 11 of India. It is also worth noting that Justice Hansen clearly indicated that the fracas started with Symmonds abusing Harbhajan. Why no punishment was handed out to him? The expressions used by him are in no way better than those used by Harbhajan. This once again proves that there are two sets of rules- one for the whitemen and another for the rest. Gavaskar was definitely bang on target when he commented about Procter's bias towards the white men!

Sometimes, I wish Mr.Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri would head the BCCI and not some Minister and a bunch of nincompoops who cant even speak english properly and have NO clue what National Honour is or the game of cricket is. Its sad that a LEGEND like Gavaskar is sitting in a commentary box and not at the helm of the BCCI !

Why no statement from BCCI on Symond's escape?
by Spitting Cobra on Feb 01, 2008 05:30 AM

Symond: "My objection was that a Test match is no place to be friendly with an opposition player."

And, in fact, Symonds agreed he hadn't been that offended, really.

What a sane judge. Symonds provoked, Singh bit back in kind. So who is guilty? Only Singh, or Symonds, too - and the team who has for so long licensed its players to abuse?

Lowlife thug- Clarke
by JM on Feb 01, 2008 12:19 AM  | Hide replies

Statement 47 of the verdict:
"Indeed Mr Clarke went so far as to say that he did not hear Mr Symonds say anything. Given Mr Symonds%u2019 own acceptance that he initiated the exchange and was abusive towards Mr Singh, that is surprising"

i.e. judge Hansen dismissed Clarke's testimony as unrealiable! This guy is a dishonest thug, just like Ponting....and he is going to be the next capt of Aus!

The series of thug-invasion ccontinues!

Clarke is a perfect cheater to follow Ponting cheater and he is getting good training in cheating other teams with cheap tactics.

Symonds Yaps. Should be banned
by suraj on Feb 01, 2008 12:07 AM

All the evidence points to the fact that Symonds was the guy who abused and not Harbajan. So not sure why the Aussies are making all the fuss now... BCCI should initiate action with ICC to ban Symonds. They have all proof from "Hansen's" verdict.

Strictures
by vsgiri on Jan 31, 2008 02:24 PM  | Hide replies

Sourab Ganguly had the maximum strictures for his bad behaviour and indiscipline. Bhajji, Yuvaraj, and to an extent Zaheer belongs to the same group. They are not sportsmen and India could have done without them.

Mcgrath had called a cricketer 'Black Monkey'
by Sunil Dharam on Jan 31, 2008 01:01 PM

Glen Mcgrath had called a cricketer 'Black Monkey' and he was let off without any punishment.
Aussies & Mike Proctor has done harbhajan singh an great injustice.
This is no less than Mahtma Gandhi been thrown out of train by a white railways official, inspite of having proper ticket for travelling, in SouthAfrica.
Aussies think it is ok to treat the non-whites this way!!
