This reflects adversly on Indian medical doctors and facilities. My question is whether in India there is a shortage of podiatrists and orthopeadic surgeons who could treat Zaheer Khan that he has to go to South Africa. Or, is it the question of faith in Indian Doctors/Medicine?

sports medicine is a field which is yet to evolve in india and it is very different from normal medical treatment. Its level of advancement in countries like US, UK, Australia and SA is much superior to india. These countries have a sporting culture for many decades and their sports medicine treatment is also very evolved as a result. India has to progress a lot in this regard.

it has to do with the superiority of SA sports doctors who are famed world wide. In fact, SA is training indian doctors in sports medicine before the commonwealth games. SA is doing this free of charge to help India be ready. I read this while i was in SA on business
In a way he being out of action during the last three tests benefited India, even though I would like to have seen an institute of medical science established in India for just the sports medicine, a distant dream may be. Coming back to Zaheer, his bowling was without any sting in the Australia and it was a blessing in disguise that he has to return.

in past zaheer's got a lot of fitness and attitude problem. But i think one year of being out of the team changed him and he was a much improved person and bowler in england and subsequently in india. His present injury is a freak injury he suffered while landing his foot in the test match against pakis. I think he went to australia with that injury not properly healed. It recurred in australia.

The question is how much an athelete is ready to pay, based on that our doctors will do a specialization in this field. There are no costly clubs like BCCI who can fund their players. If you are ready to pay, I can assure you will have on Hospital in Andhra, Trust me

Well this Indian doctor breed go for greed just like BCCI--- Indian doctors are doing lot of illegal Kidney and Organ transplant so they are also going for fresh dough: WHO CAN ONE BLAME THOUGH IT'S ALL SIMPLE SHAME> Bhai Paisa blta hai--"Why heal the HEELS when there are better deals" This is Indian doctors' graduation oath--- Do I know? I also got trapped once in Apollo Hospital racket... wasted 2 days and Rs. 20,000.00 going through their special complete health check trap. What can you say. I think Zaheer did the right thing by selecting to go for the treatment than otherwise!
