australia still the best

australia is still the best. but, they can easily be challenged, as shown by the indian team. also another outcome of this tour is that australia can easily be ruffled, by paying them back with the same coin. they also get rattled very badly, when they are targetted. they are a very cohesive unit, as suggested by lou vincent, but they are very bad losers, and they resosrted to framing bhajjie. given the kind of "fiendly/ friendly banter" that they indulge in, i thought they were a bit of a wuss to complain to the umpires - and especially when it was symonds who started it all. and in the next test again, bhajjie patted the bowler when he bumped into him unknowingly while taking a run - nothing happened then. symonds kept up the attack, even when the proceeding was on and matter not settled yet - that was cheap and meant to keep the rhetoric and public focus on bhajjie rather than on him, he wanted to play the sympathy card. the outcome of it all, despite what the aussie team and the public might reject - is a resounding "bad losers" image in the rest of the world.

Why is India
by chris on Jan 29, 2008 08:54 AM  | Hide replies

so awful at cricket? 1.5 billion of you little ants and the richest governing body in the game yet you can't produce a team which can actually win anything meaningful.... why do you think that is? I'd like all your thoughts on the matter.

Australia the best, nothing new, nothing changes, just another hyped Indian team talking big and losing another series. Thanks for coming, you can all go home now after Harbajahn is found guilty, smacking you minnows in another 1-day series (out in the group stages of the world cup LOL!) just doesn't hold any interested, we've just done it to many times now to care.

Hey buddy, the scoreline might suggest that the Aussies won but it could have comfortably been atleast a drawn series if not an Indian victory 2-1, thanks to your 'honest' captain and Steve Bucknor. Aussie might still be the best but do not forget that India beat the best team in their own backyard at Perth where most of the over-confident Aussies were thinking of steam rolling us within three days. Wake up dude , a team winning 16 matches in a row was defeated in it's most favourable conditions and u call it the BEST?

16 wins in a row, 16 wins 1 loss and 1 draw out of 18 tests. Yep, I'm pretty confident calling the Australian cricket team the best, by far. Indian tears, oh how sweet.

For a decent team they sure do beat the 'best' alot, and every one else... repeatedly... dominantly... and consistently. So unless your understanding of the word 'best' is what most people refer to as losers, one would have to question your intelligence. Group stage exit in world cup = laughing stock of a team.

chris is right, all the stats and figures makes sense. indians are fools and nothing else, even the 4th test match, they had the chance to go for a kill, being down 2-1 in the series, doesnt do harm, if i was india's captain, i would have gone for the kill. put 250 on the board, and let australians play for atleast 30 overs and try to finish the match, but i guess, indians were more afraid of loosing 3-1. if they had taken a chance, anyting would have beenn possible. unlike india, i can guarantee you that if australia, would have been in the same situation, series would have been drawn 2-2 becasue they have the power and gutts to change any coarse of game, thats australia for you, the only team that can change anything any time, they want too. talking about their attitudes well my friend, attitude changes the behavior, and behavior brings in laurels. being aggressive is no harm, they have a good policy of killing the other team psychlogically, and than on the ground. well australia keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!! you deserve to win and deserve to stay on top. good luck in the one dayers, and kick everyone's behind.

I believe that Catch was calling India the decent team and Australia the best cricket team. No one is arguing whether Australia is the best team is in the world. It is a fact whether people can accept it or not. But calling Indians a bunch of losers is unwarranted. They might not have won the series but they did compete well against Australia and even won a game.

On the racism row, it was the Australians' word against the Indians. Now, if the ICC had banned Harbhajan for anything other than racism, I don't think anyone would've had a problem. But to call him a racist by taking only one side's argument is not a just decision. Let us wait for the appeal to take place completely.

Furthermore, talking about India's ouster from the 1st group stage in the World Cup - they've held themselves pretty well considering that there are a billion eyes watching them, as opposed to a 200 or 300 million people. They've been doing pretty well outside India (both Tests and ODIs) recently and in the past 22 encounters between Australia and India, the record is 10-8 (with 4 draws). So I think we're a pretty decent team.

Again, no one is saying India is the best team because they beat Australia in one test match. It is merely the mental strength of the team we're appreciating after all that happened in Sydney. Of course, India cannot be the best team until they win 16 in a row or better.
Moreover, you're coming to an indian website and criticizing us for appreciating our team's eff

Australia, a bunch of self-deluded fools on home ground justifying their obnoxious arrogance by the cliche'd phrase 'we play it hard and fair' to only mean "we are so shrewd and tough that the rest of world that we so look down upon better call us fair even when we cheat...and we're explicitly proud of this attitude". Well, you maybe the best team but you are the best a**holes for sure.

Lol you talk of attitude when your team harbors 2 ex captains who are proven ball tamperers, proven cheats such as Dhoni and a team who threatens to go home unless their racism is allowed and they get to choose the umpires. Disgraceful.

That racism thing is a big joke. Its like a schoolkid complaining to his/her teacher...

Have you ever heard any member of any team in world cricket complain to the umpire about sledging? They may talk about it after the game as unprofessional but dont run to the umpires for everything...

And I thought the Australian team had some pretty tough folks... they turned out to be cry-babies... lol

Fact is - Australia won! Whether they deserved it or not, winner takes all!

ummm Darren Lehman was suspended for racially taunting a Sri Lankan player. The ICC has told every captain that they must report racial abuse. Symonds convinced Ponting not to once in India thinking he'd sorted it out with Harbajahn, but that turban has fried his brain and he did it again, leaving Ponting no choice. You evidently don't know too much about the situation.

What do you mean my own little world? Do you mean the world in which Australia are 3 times world cup champions, ranked 1 in ODI's for a decade and ranked 1 in tests for a decade is just my own little world? Because it seems everyone else is in the same world.

Oh and what isn't funny about India going out of the World Cup in the group stages? That's hilariously pitiful.

To fool Sam,
Most of the team complain whenever they play against Aussie, the 50-50 decision goes always in favour of Aussie. They also only won by sledging whereas other teams were weak whereas Indian put them at the right place. In another 5 years u can see for yourself because the younger generation is much more fitter and will be more aggressive than the previous one. Slowly India is becoming more aware of fitness and other things .

India can be best
by deepak on Jan 29, 2008 12:44 AM

India's attitude is much improved which is why they did good in Aus...a few things are still disturbing - Indians tend to be individualistic- in Sydney, Tendulkar was not farming the strike simply to remain unbeaten, and Sharma although he scored a few runs should not have been exposed or expected to score. Put the team and country above yourself and you will be ok. If you lose, go down fighting.
