sachin is a waste in 2nd innings
by Praveen Ghosh on Jan 28, 2008 07:58 AM  | Hide replies

It has been proved now that Sachin is total waste in 2nd innings of the test. But we can't ignore him as well. So my suggestion to caption is that in 2nd innings drop sachin to lower order and promote players like Laxman up. Atleast opponent will be down a bit as sachin would still in reserve.
Sachin can not play in 2nd innings. His last inning was 136 against pakistan. After that loss, he is still in trauma. I understand as he is very emotional person.
Never mind keep playing in 1st inning atleast.

What is Sachin's average in 2nd innings? Does anyone know? Looks like Sachin seems nervous when batting in 2nd innings or he is just unlucky. Even against Pakistan last year he got himself run out needlessly.

Sachin's avg is 42 in 2nd innings, Against pakistan run out in the first innings , 2nd innings he made 56* in a chase of 200 , today was unfortunate , but he had a good partnership and batted for 1 hour , tht was crucial , hopw we can get one more partnership like that

i dont understand, why you people always come-up with stats. It includes b'desh n zimbabwe. You just remind me any valuable innings by sachin in 2nd innings of test in his 146-test career.

he has 8 tests against B'desh and Zim in 146 test career , fool , so if he has failed for 138 tests , avg wont be 42 , OK?

sialkot , 1989 , 2nd innings , walks out at 28-4 , India struggling to save against waqar , wasim , and imran , bats 3 hours , 56* , India saves the match.

Old Trafford , 1990 , 119* , 4th Innings , bats 5 hours , match saved , with the tail.

Bombay 1993 , Match in the balance , India 61-4 , 2nd innings . sachin makes 91 from 103 balls , India gets lead of 260 ,Match Won , first win against WI at home for 15 years.

Chennai 1998 ,2nd innings , ,match in the balance , smashes 155* , India win .

Mumbai 2004 , Ind vs Aus , smashes 55 in a total of 142 on a minefield of a pitch , india win ,

just a sample , all the best ,

without 153 in the first innings , we wont be here , match would have been over yesterday , thats callled playing under pressure when australa badly wanted his wicket in the first innings to dimiss india , when india were 156-4.

Thanks/

Well done Sid. 5 innings in 146 test. thats all you have. Is it enough to proof that he is legend? I agree without his 1st innings in we could saved. but dont forget, he is considered next to god and our main frontline batsman. my doubt is his ability to carry the pressurre like ponting, waugh, lara used to do.

boss thats a sample , he has 13 100's in the 2nd innings , lara had that one 153* , nothing else and waugh's 2nd innings avg is 21 , pls check , and its not 5 , its many many more, and even if a person plays 5 good knocks in the 2nd innings in a career and 100 good first innings knocks , its great , all great batsmen do well in the first innings , and their avg drops in the 2nd innngs, thats the way the game is, to win one test with your batting is a tremendous acheivement , bcos it takes all 11 players to win matches . not just one. Test Records should be looked at in entireity , he had a partnership of 71 with sehwag , thats cruical .

true...as much as I hate it, I agree. The pressure to perform gets to him, it seems. Plus the fact that he scored heavily in the first innings, works against him, I think due to the law of averages. Whatever it is, he seriously needs to re-evaluate the way he approaches the game in the 2nd innings. But, let us not forget that if it were not for his 153 in the first innings, we would've lost this Test in 4 days :)
Still, his performance in the 3rd and 4th innings is a serious concern. He really needs to relax a li'l bit. I'm glad you brought up the 136 vs Pak at Chennai which I actually rate among the best innings ever - and you couldn't have put it better - the trauma of that loss seems to have had on effect on him.

I will never blame Sachin. What about the other 10 fools in the side who can't save India when Sachin fails? Are they all eating popcorn?

India, I agree with you. Sachin is getting a bum rap for the collective failure of 10 other players. For example in Sydney the tailenders (except for Kumble) could have easily saved India. But they lost 3 wickets in one over to a part time bowler and gift wrapped a win for OZ's. All they had to do was to bat for 2 more overs.

yup iceman , looks like there are some people who just wiat and pray for sachin to fail so that they can start bashing him , all biased perception , 2nd innings he has done enough throughout his career , failues happen in the 2nd innings to any great player , luck also needs to be there . dont forget sehwag was dropped when he was 11 . Dravid has been dropped twice in this series and also out twice to a no ball , laxman has been dropped twice in this series, without much luck , Sachin has played in the first innings, when it mattered most at sydney , Perth and Adelaide , and has helped India get a hoinorable series results , and hopefully if Sehwag gets going maybe even a 2-2 series results. who knows, hope for it. 65 overs left in the day

Well done sehwag
by Praveen Ghosh on Jan 28, 2008 07:41 AM

I am taking all my words back, which I had uttered for sehwag. He was the difference between two teams. He has surprised a lot, including me. He came from no where and performed so well in both tests. now his place is secured for next few tests atleast. Hope he continue the same in onedayer as well. he is the most important member of squad now.
Well done viru.......
welcome back. Use your brain and take responsibility.

Its obviously clear now...
by YoBro on Jan 28, 2008 07:40 AM

...that the selectors committed a grave blunder by dropping this guy Sehwag for the first two Tests. I can't help but feel sorry for him. He's made the difference since he came in - giving us great starts, taking wickets at crucial times - this blunder cost us a historic series win. I still think we won 2-1, since Sydney was ours in my book - but still, its a crime to keep someone out of an MCG Test when you know he scored 195 and helped us win there last time. What a pathetic move, including Yuvi turned out to be!

Dravid..
by YoBro on Jan 28, 2008 06:40 AM

..is batting himself into a corner everytime on this tour. This just doesn't work against the Aussies - it only gives them more confidence. He should be looking to score while mixing it with caution. He has himself to blame for being retd. hurt.

The question was about the 3 top applications of therapeutic cloning in the field of medicine!!

First application is for millions of diabetic patients in creating cells that release insulin!

Second is for parkinsonism or degenrative diseases in creating nerve cells to replace damaged nerve cells

And third is for alcoholics in helping them overcome loss of liver tissue by regenrating liver cells!!

Even if he had given me an example of one top appln., i would have been convinced, but all i got was abuse!!
