as one of the new zealand players said..although gilchrist walks, why does he appeal when he knows its not out..like dravid's wkt at sydney??? give me a break..he's no gent! if all ur family are under 5ft tall..and ur 5ft2"..ofcourse u'll be considered tall...in the same way gilly is considered a gent as the rest of the aussies are robbers! ps.stop buying aussie promoted products..brett lee and his watch collection..

Robin...Dont predict the character of a person on a single deed...he have every right to appeal and...umpire have given his verdict...there is no mistake of gilli...and I hope..U came to know about cricket for the past couple of months. He is one of the few sportsmen with spirits in the entire cricket world. We have to accept the fact that he changed the phase of test and oneday runrates. n...its time to tribute him but not to criticize....if U are a cricket lover...as every cricket lover likes gilli...
I regard Gilchrist as the greatest cricketer to have played the game in teh last decade. Yes, not just the greatest wk-bat but the GREATEST CRICKETER. And when I say that I am fully aware that Sachin, Lara, Murali, Warne have all played in the last decade. No cricketer has turned more matches than Gilly or won more games for his team. Look at the glitches in Aussie record in the last few years (including 2005 ashes) and you will see they all coincide with dip in Gilly's form. Add that to his honesty, his non-controversial record, and his regard for his opponents. You will understand why I call him the best player in the world. Coolingwood sums it up perfectly - opponents can now sleep in a little more peace. I think that's the greatest tribute any sportsman can get.

Can't agree. Gilly has not made any real great innings since Adelaide last year and the Australian juggernaught has rocked on through a world cup win, series test and ODI win against India and a test series win against Sri Lanka. Also Symonds and Bevan had more to do with the run rate of ODI's creeping upwards than Gilly, and the whole of the Australian top order, particularly Ponting and Hayden, in tests.
Warne, Steve, Mark Waugh, McGrath and Bevan were bigger match winners for Australia.
It won't be as fun, but the Australian juggernaught will roll on without Gilly and with Haddin.
Mr. Gilchrist you have done wonders both as wicketkeeper and batsman along with maintaning high standards of cricket on the pitch. Hats OFF to your greatness!!!!!!
Gilly is without doubt the best wk batsman to play the game...but,still the sydney incidents do play in the back of our minds...leave it ,i think he has to play for the team , thats all...his contributions outside the field suggest that he is a gentleman...Hats off for gilly.....I really like ur gnetleness...be as good as u have been in the future.....good luck buddy.....!!!

yah, we love u gilly......... i can even see u takin catchin of Sachin or stumpin him........ u were last light of hope for a neat ausie team.......
If this series were not marred by controversies than few crores of indians would have joined to bid fare well to Gilly. but no chance now.But iwould say forgive him and wish him good luck.
Gilly. You are simply great. I have never seen such a frealess wicket batsman, who have trashed bowlers all over the ground. We will miss you and so will the Australian Team
Be it walking during a world cup final or thrashing the opponent in another, gilly's done it all.In an australian team which cheats to the core,he is an exception. Will definitely miss the keeper who redefined batting
Mr. Dhoni where are you. are you playing cricket or something else boy. It was a very poor performance buddy in the tests. I hope u can do something in the one day series

yeah u guys are absolute correct dhani has a very long ......... way to go and by comparing dhoni with gilli pls don't humiliate gilli. gilli n sankakara has shown how vital a keeper role is in the teams achievement. i suspect that BCCI has done a great job by awarding him the captaincy.

Dhoni is nothing in front of gilly...dhoni can be compared with minnow teams wicketkeepers..

Thats rite!!! Dhoni pales in comparison with ppl like gilly, sangakkara, etc..... these guys aren't only the best wicketkeepers, but also the best batsmen around.....
Dhoni wake up!!! look up to ppl like gilly for inspiration...
Hey it was really shocking to hear the retirement of Gilly from Test cricket.........anyhow he will be always remembered as the most explosive wicket keeper batsman of all times. I just remembered the 2007 world cup final when he just murdered the srilankans seriously man i couldn't take my eyes from the television when he was on song (of course there has been some controversies about that final)....but the way he played was brilliant...........
