Really? Thats why they wanted to win at all costs in Sydney to equal the record of 16 wins? Also when Hayden was allowed to go on to score 380 just to beat Lara's 375 so that he can be highest individual scorer in test cricket (record since broken by Lara)? What about Shane Warne, they wanted him to be the 1st bowler in international cricket to reach 700.I can give endless examples of how they play for records but because they win so many games this aspect is not talked about much.
i wonder y these shouts keep coming that the big 3 shud quit! wen they keep performing continuously, n none there in backup to replace them, they shud carry on.
n for these intelligent critics.....india lost 2003 WC coz at that time, the so-called youthjs like Zaheer,Nehra n Bhajji were thrashed all round the park to giv aussies 359!! but these ORACLES claim that the big3 r to b blamed.
in 2007 WC, Mr Dhoni also maid a pair of duck against SL n Bangla.....but these critics will not pinpoint these things...they will jus wink n ovrlook it...coz wat they only see is AGE...."alas, evrything looks yellow to a jaundiced eye"
India lost a test series at home v/s aussies coz a youth named Parthiv Patel dropped dozens of catches behind stumps
SHAME ON YOU ALL
U R SIMPLY THANKLESS CREATURES
tell me who averages better than ganguly in ODIs last year....jus Yuvraj n Sachin....n none else in india n here too in Down Under, it has been all Sachin n Laxman....even yuraj, dhoni n jaffer"s combined aggregate does not comes to half of the Sachin's total
BUT YOU WILL KEEP REMINDING THAT YOU R TALKING ABOUT ABOUT A WORLD CUP WIN ONLY
THEN I SUGGEST U ALL AN IDEA
SHUT DOWN YOUR TVs n OPEN IT ONCE IN 4 YEARS, or rather 2 now with 20-20 WC
ur comment really make me feel ashamed of my country...this nation claims to b most humble of all....what i find is otherwise...it is full ofTHANKLESS CREATURES

Excellent Abhijit. Its a real pitty that people of other countries holds respect n knows the importance of Players like Sachin. Recent example is australia n we just think about their age.

agree with you.... even in the ongoing test.... only the oldies have performed with the bat...
even captain KUMBLE has scored more runs then dhoni yuvraj combine).... lol...and they have the odasity to drop seniors as when and where they like....
... lets see if they perform in the one day games...that will tell the story,,,

i agree most indians have jaichand like mentality thats why outsiders ruled them for 1000 years indians feel jealous of their fellow citizens acheivments

i m keen to argue a lot....u keep calling that sachins 100s dont win matches....agree in last 5 ODIs india lost 4....but india registered 300 plus in all of them.....do u mean that he shud hv got 50 odd more to help india past 400??? or shud he had claimed 4-5 wickets in addition??? or u mean that other 10 guys were jus spectators like u all??
RE:thankless critics keep buzzing
by ROHIT on Jan 27, 2008 09:22 AM
i cant agree more with u Abhijit. out of 39 test hundreds 22 of them is on foriegn soil n out of which 6 or 7 is in australia. He is the only batsman to score atleast one century in each of tours. WE r not against youngsters . They shoud be given a chance but it should not be an accomodating deal by leaving side a player just because he is playing for last 18 years.

if anyone wans to challeng my words then do so with supporting facts.....n jus blatantly yelling AGE,AGE,AGE....n more so...if u call those 3 selfish, also i beg u...xplain us...what the term SELFLESSNESS means in ur dictionary.....n 1 thing at last....my dictionary suggests the word JEALOUS for u all

dear friend, you r showing the 10 years ago record, while discussion is taday's cricket. sachin is known as great player i.e. the people hv extra ordinary expectations fm. him.

RE:thankless critics keep buzzing
by shiv hr on Jan 27, 2008 11:38 AM
dear, i can understand your emotions with sachin, so you chose only his plus. We love sachin as great player/strong Leader (not only average contributor),so we expect a great milestone at every big matches/ at pressure, critical time (chasing) . His just failures hurt us very deep. as sachin also says that his concentration is not too good as in young age. we love our country's win rather than an individual. so whatever best for india, that should be taken.
Is only the age a benchmark for retirement n not the performance. As soon as a player reaches 34 peaople start calling for their heads. Sachin is in fine form right now scoring runs in australia but still people asking questions when will he go. Some say that he should retire now gracefully as he is good forem. Well the day is not far when a youngster like Manoj Tiwary has really good series against a tough opposition n people will say retite manoj gracefully as u r in fine n form who knows what will happen in future. Do big oranisations states that one should do his/her job till 35 n retire gracefully. Would you vaccate your job for a youngter. But laeving this topic aside, Adam is a great cricketer n we salute u sir for your achievements. Best of luck adam for the future.
RE:retirement.
by abhijit sinha on Jan 27, 2008 09:25 AM
no rohit,i m damn assure...these critics will set examples...wen they turn 34,they will humbly proclaim that they cant distinguish betwn "a and alpha", "b and beta", n on computer they can now type only 20 words a minute rather 30 in their prime....so they call it a day....n wont demand a BHARAT RATNA either....coz they r not selfish
is going to win this test. First they will reach 700 by EOD today. Then India will crumble to 200 and the remaining 70 runs will be scored in 10 overs and Gilchrist will open in the 4th innings. Wow what a great way to retire for Adam Gilchrist.
this is the diff between us and other country players. Unless u compulsorily throw out souravs, rahuls, sachins, they wont go. they will play even after crossing 40 yrs.
RE:wat abt indians
by Altaff Hadi on Jan 27, 2008 08:35 AM
These 3 if you throw them out from the door they will jump back into the team from the windows, you cant close all the openings of the home. You have to throw them out and smartly close all the windows also along with the doors but even then they will try to make some hole in the walls, doors or windows and come back. We have to live with them, they are shameless.

yes like our great future stars dhoni and yuvraj who proved that they cant play strong team like australia on somewhat fast wickets they can only flog b level teams on friendly subcontinent wickets

Its not that they dont know Voluntary Retirement. They know about it. But they want to earn crores of rupees for some 10 generations and then be thrown out of team than retiring gracefully like Gilchrist.
The world will be poorer without a champion cricketer like you, Gilly. You played cricket in all its right spirit and won many admirers with your passionate and true gentlemanly approach to the glorious game. You'd be fondly remembered and rightly ranked as one of the modern-day greats to grace the cricket ground. We will miss you.
RE:Gilchrist among modern greats
by Angelo deSouza on Jan 27, 2008 07:45 AM
Well said, Sir !! Adam Gilchrist was a brilliant wicketkeeper batsman, probably the best the world has ever seen. He was also a gentleman cricketer. We will miss you, Adam !!
I am sure Sourab Ganguly would take a lesson from Gilcrist and pave the way for others althouh his people from Bengal may not like it. He can also demand a Bharat Ratna
RE:Lesson from Gilcrist
by narayan on Jan 27, 2008 06:35 AM
but in Ganguly we find few other characters like arrogance which is more than the talent and lack of humbleness. He could've learned from Sachin n Dravid...but its too late now.
RE:Lesson from Gilcrist
by indiafriend on Jan 27, 2008 12:51 PM
If he had learned to be submissive, it'd have taken us a few more yeras to get out of the match fixing aftermath. Anyway, this Giri guy has only one agenda in life...to badmouth Sourav...hence, we'll leave him to lick his own wounds....and if any rabies injection is required, I can wholeheartedly provide that.
Lets critisize Sachin and call him greedy that he does not retire.
Then what will you call Brain Lara - retired at 38 Sanath Jayasuria- 38 and still playing ODI The list is long.
Lets keep all the players in the team as peer their performance.
Youth will not be given a chance THEY HAVE TO EARN IT this is no charity.
If youth is to be given a chance then SACHIN is the most youthful cricketer.
AUSTRALIA series was eye opener....so called youth in DHONI, YUVI and JAFFER failed badly....
Lets stop being silly and enjoy that SACHIN is playing in our era.
Sachin is not only gifted genius he is the most hardworking criketer.
Please open your mind and do niot complain about they making money. Remember they make money not because they are handsome....the make it because of their form and game....

as soon as we excluded 3 jokers we won t20 world cup. now u decide u want to win world cup or just series which have no meaning
RE:Adam retired- Lets critisize Sachin
by Bal on Jan 27, 2008 05:52 AM
guys... i would like to win all the ODI and test series... n not world cup. Just winning world cup every 16 yrs is not fun. u shld win 80% od ur games. dont talk rubbish. indias youth should work had. we dont hva a backup. tatz why ganguly n laxman were called back.
RE:Adam retired- Lets critisize Sachin

u know when there is 3 jokers in team there is leg pulling between each other and indian public are made a big fool

dhoni's wicket keeping is also not up to the marks and he is in the team just because he is having the support of management. But one good hting is atleast management is supporting somebody outside maharashtra
RE:Adam retired- Lets critisize Sachin
by SHEIKH HILAL on Jan 27, 2008 08:54 AM
Had Gavaskar, Vengsarkar etc; not retired & paved way for youngesters like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, who would have known these so called greats. If selected today, Gavaskar,Vengsarkar can make runs at this age also. There is no doubt that Sachin is a great cricketer.Assess his performance viz a viz team performance. When ever he scores runs, team either draws or looses. If being great cricketer means to continue playing, then past greats like Bradman, Sobers, Richards etc; should not have retired from cricket. Er. Hilal
RE:Adam retired- Lets critisize Sachin
by CricFan01 on Jan 27, 2008 09:39 AM
Mr Sheikh, Gavaskar retired when he was 38 not at 34. He became captain for 2nd time when was 35 and India won ICC trophy in Aus 1985. Why should a player retire just because he is 34 as long as he is playing well?
RE:tendulkar
by Raman on Jan 27, 2008 04:19 AM
When Gavaskar said Sachin should play till 2011 WCUP i thought it was a joke or a wishful thought of him cause he loves Sachin too much but when Sachin is thinking of touring Australia again even god cant save Indian cricket,Gilly has been in 3 WCUP winning squads and for them defeat or a flaw hurts, but our legends nothing hurts them,no matter how many times they attempt and loose they just keep playing....
RE:tendulkar
by dirtybutclean on Jan 27, 2008 07:30 AM
Cheers man! Sachin still has got like 500 crore Indian rupees to makm out of BCCI and the gullible public. So let him finish his target. Poor Sachin, why don't you let him finish his job? Also, lest I forget, he's gunning for the Bharat Ratna. Let his cupboard become full of dubious honors, we've a long way to go man!
