Actually, Bharat Ratna should feel honoured with Sachin......
by vijay on Feb 27, 2010 05:04 AM

and even this world's highest honour may be nobel prize (if it was for sports ), must have been bestowed to sachin, no that particular honour would have felt honoured to perpetuaity .

look, at my points in detail aspects...

Its crystal clear, that sachin is the person to influence 120 crores indians in this modern era (each indian), it was Gandhiji previously.

Now what is his influence or total impact on us or even the planet at large?

Looking by his karma gestures n humbleness, on india in particular n world in general, no one ever has given (not achieved ) more in the modern era .

What has he given (not looking at what has he achieved's angle), happiness, self belief ,joy, true art , majesticity, confidence.
n countless more undefined.

he earns crores but thats a medium of life, do we want materialstic pleasures really, or the art of spirituality.

spirituality coz... when a person becomes higher than his karma, he attains salvation or moksha.

just look at him n u wud see he has achieved that, n we hav got some of it by sheer watchin him.

and for critics, good n correct criticism is important but wud u criticize the SUN for burning us to flames of envy, jealousness n
desires.

SACHIN is the world's only modern surviving legend till now in his 37 years in this planet.

so "Sachin being GOD of cricket" is correctly hailed in this quote is enough to justify that he is a special creation of THE GOD.

Bharat Ratna shud be awarded to Sachin
by devyani on Mar 31, 2009 11:15 PM

Sachin surely deserves Bharat Ratna.. he is one of the jems of India who we love and respect for his achievements in Sport's field...and how does anyone knows he is an income tax cheat... i distinctly remember he was infact awarded by the IT deptt.. for paying highest amount of tax... i wud say there are other ppl too who deserve Bharat Ratna.. but here we r talking about Sachin....and who knows what he does with his taxes; and we all know he always played for the country, i think thats an indisputable fact.

Stupid Idea !!!
by Srinivas on Jan 25, 2008 06:22 PM  | Hide replies

Bharath Ratna is highest civilian award in India and not sports. In my opinion Tendulkar deserves IT raids and nothing more. In WC2007, sachin was busy inking pacts and was in west Indies to make business and not cricket.

Sachin is shameless creature, with so much of money with him he requested govt. to waive off exise tax !!! IT people have disclosed that Sachin has "set up" wind mills in Rajastan to save tax. But the fact is it's just paper work and no wind mills exist anywhere !!!!
How can you give a man who becomes sad over personal things like not scoring double hundred under Dravid ???
If Sachin can deserve Bharath Ratna my pet also deserves one !!!!

Ajit Wadekar got it wrong
by Emperor Ashoka on Jan 25, 2008 04:21 PM  | Hide replies

It may be fashionable for Gordon Brown to talk of conferring knighthood. The Bush's and Brown's are experts in diverting our attention and trivializing more important things. Brown for example cannot address Indians demand to restore Kohinoor to India. He cannot discuss about the problems of Indian diaspora in UK in general or about Indian doctors in UK.

We Indians should know what we are talking about. Bharat Ratna is too big a title to be conferred on a film actor or musician or playback singer or a dancer or a cricketer. There are awards galore for deserving ones from these respective categories.

Sachin's is surely a name unheard of outside of the cricket playing nations and outside of Indians in other nations. He is no doubt a brilliant cricketer but it is his profession.

Give him Khel Ratna award and none will grudge. Give him Arjuna Award and none will grudge. But Bharat Ratna? It is just amusing.

Bharat Ratna award will get glory (instead of the awardee getting glory) if it is given to someone like Abdul Kalam, Ratan Tata, Rahul Bajaj, Narayanamoorthy, Munjals of Hero Honda, Kiran Bedi etc.

yeh! i agree with u. There are many hero's for our nation..in past and in present so bharat ratna should confer to those like Shri Abdul Kalam..,Ratan Tata..,few in this era and there are many writers, socialists, and politicians who worked for the majority people's benifit..

You may want to know tht it was already conferred on A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 1997.
Also, Lata Mangeshkar, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, M. S. Subbulakshmi and Satyajit Ray also won it in past.

Why KarunaNidhi ..why kansiram
by Sohaan Subhankar on Jan 25, 2008 08:14 AM  | Hide replies

IT will be a great Shame to the highest respectable award if it will be given to people like Karunanidhi or Kansiram. What Karunda nidhi done for india...he fooled the tamilians to hate Hindi our national language.. he pushed the tamilians to back door because of his own intentions in politics.. and the stupid imotional tamilans also just folowed that blindly. So karundanidhi doesn't even deserve a "Battlei Award" from Sreyash(OSM). Coming back to Kansiram..that idiot has given a political Sickness in terms of Mayabati..who dreams to be indian priminister.. what a stupid product of democracy. Rather i suggest give bharat ratna to Sachin.

Understand what the award is all about....
by Vinayak Gadekar on Jan 24, 2008 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

The highest civilian award is given for exemplary achievement in various spheres of life like music, politics, sports, economics etc.

Please note, it is NOT AN AWARD for SERVING THE COUNTRY like Paramveer chakra....

Thus, Sachin is eligible to get the award as a civilian. Personally I feel, Sachin deserves it more if compared to the likes of Lata Mangeshkar. At least he is known and loved nationally and internationally. Also, he defnately stands out than others like our rotten politicians who have been suggested by their 'croonies' for the award this year.

The award is similar to the knighthood / 'Sir' title, OBE bestowed by the HM, the Queen of England.

It shouldn't happen that Indians are the last ones to recognise Sachin's achievements and others honour him with 'Sir' before Indians honour him.

It is very ironical that it took a Britisher (Richard Attenborough) to understand the virtues of Mahatma Gandhi and come up with the movie 'Gandhi' before us Indians.

Let us not repeat such huge embarrassment again. So, please bestow 'Bharat Ratna' BEFORE ' the Queen bestows 'Sir' title on Sachin.

Yes, Indians can technically get a 'Sir' after India's independence. That no one has got it is a different matter.

'Sir' is just a title, it is not award like 'OBE' (Order of British Empire).
