On Tendulkar dedicating his century to Bradman ..
by RajneeshChandraMohan Jain on Jan 25, 2008 12:13 PM  | Hide replies

Only Asians take such a pride is personal milestones. And they want to dedicate that to this and that. On the other hand take a look at Hayden. He plays it like a machine. Almost with not attachment with milestones.

I am not saying one thing is right and other thing is wrong. But just pointing out an interesting fact.

Aahha!!! Hayden is a machine...
This is another proof that he is not a human. He do not have dignity. So he lies and stay on the crease like other australian even when they are out.

Sunil Yande
Team India
by Sunil Yande on Jan 25, 2008 02:31 AM

Guys - please back off! We all like to choose the team of our liking - no wonder it is called Team India - as every Indian wants to have a say! Are these not the same voices which were calling for the heads of all the seniors during the world cup not long ago? We all seem to have have short memories and unrealistic expectations.

For once, let the captain get what he wants! All the so-called "Seniors" were absent when Dhoni & Co. won the 20-20 World Cup. He was a unanimous choice as a captain for one-day too! So, let us give him a chance. I feel the selectors also should stop squealing and stand firm against any bullying tactics from press/fans. I think, the team choice is good in the given circumstances. Only Sachin has scored consistently in Australia and is required to back up the young team in difficult situations. Otherwise, let the youngsters face the music and prove themselves. We can sacrifice a few matches for the sake of building the future team. Let us back the selectors and the selected team for once and move forward. Let us get back and analyze the merits and defficiencies after the one-day series is over. I am not expecting miracles, but we may be pleasantly surprised by the overall performance.

Shud Sachin get Bharat Ratna
by seejo paul on Jan 25, 2008 02:08 AM  | Hide replies

Sure if at all a sportperson can be given Bharat Ratna then the first one shud be Sir Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Some are saying that it shud be given to those who is a real ambassador for our country and work selflessly.Dudes, who other than Sachin has made us this much proud.Today in CNN IBN I heard an Australian saying he wud love to be an Indian as Sachin is an Indian. Also luk at the way the Australians respected that man when he came to the crease.Truely he made our country's flag fly high.He shud be given Bharat Ratna.

Also, just a day ago, Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister hinted that Sachin Tendulker should be knighted if possible. Most of the cricketing world honors him as the living legend.
Hope we win this Test match too, because of the base he provided, and further team work. We can't win unless every one in the team makes a useful contribution.

dhoni wants everyone out
by Vivekanand Venkataraman on Jan 25, 2008 12:22 AM | Hide replies

u know nwhy dhoni wants dravid and ganguly out... its purely becuase he wants to cash on the oppurtunity and take all the endorsments to his a/c
tendulkar has too much on stake so no one can remove him .. he has a BIG lobby behind him.

So the poor guys left are dravid and ganguly and they have been dropped..

Media plays a very crucial role... i dont remember dhoni playing a major innings after the 2005 pak series but he still is called "dho"ni!
20/20.. he was a bad perfomer... even though the team won..aus series.. so far pathetic.. aus home series.. pathetic... hisdays are counted and soon he will be replaced by karthik for tests..

Though I don't believe in, or like to compare the great legends, but I do wonder how Bradman's batting would have been against bowlers like Brett Lee and Shoab Akhtar. Those days, the fastest bowlers were averaging like 80-85 mph, I heard. Not close to 100 mph like these guys. And the amount of cricket played and the physical strain these days. Those days, there were no ODIs too. I wonder if the great Bradman would have lasted this long like Sachin (80 centuries). True, Bradman played thru 20 years (with a world-war gap in between). But the amount of cricket was not even a third of what it is today, right?

Dear Bob, u r an illiterate cricket fan, so please shut up. In those days, the pitches were uncovered and under-prepared. No helmets. the bats were of very inferior quality. The pads and other gears were very heavy and cumbersome.

We have won just one test and people have already started feeling like, India is the second best team in test cricket and even has the possibility of becoming No.1. Funny mates! It's a lone and once in a blue moon rare win when we won the last test. Let India win more consistently and more too often! I too shall join you all and start dreaming like, we're the best!

so you are one of the fence sitters who will wait and then decide what to do. India is not #1 by any means and everyone know that they have to win consistently abroad and they are doing it. In last 2 years they won in WI, SA, Eng, Pak, Aus. Which other country can boast of winning in Aus in last 2 years? Nothing wrong in dreaming if they are backed by performance. But a looser like you wont understand this.

The day sachin retires will be a very sad day for the whole cricketing fraternity...Even saying Kumble, Sachin, Saurav, Dravid are on their last tour down under gives me the shivers...They are truly world class performers!

Sachin - A phenomenon !!
by Nand on Jan 24, 2008 10:07 PM  | Hide replies

When he walked into to play, it was a real pride to see the entire adelaide crowd standing up to greet him , and then the way he whacked Lee & the gang all around and put India into a respectful position, after that yet another standing ovation as the lil great man walked past the crowd in such humbleness at the end of days play. Gives you goosebumps! Every Indian worth his salt should cherish these moments and remember it for a long long time.

Very very very well said!
I have been running a cricket club here (in Texas) for many years, we always had a couple of Tendulker-haters. Since nearly for the past 6 years, they have been crying that he should retire, and that he does not play for the team and very very stupid comments like that. The rest of us always laughed at them for their ignorance and jealousy of greatest people (No. 1s). (There is a section of ignorant/stupid people in this world that love to criticize the greats and legends always(whether it is Sachin, Amithab, SRK ...). And see, after six years, he is still the best.

Bob, you are right. There are many self styled critics who think they know more about the game by just watching TV or reading on the internet. The reason they go after the great legends is probably due to the fact that in their professions they have been unable to achieve their ambitions and become jealous when they see others being treated as superstarts.
