Dhoni the FLOP
by kiran raut on Jan 25, 2008 06:16 PM  | Hide replies

0,11,2,35,19,38,16.....These are the figures of Dhoni's score in the on going test series. Selecters saying he do not want Ganguly in the ODI what makes him not to take Ganguly, fielding ? is it right ? What about Munaf Patel ? How good he is in fielding ? How good he is in bowling ? Well if this is the decision of Dhoni, I strongly suggest he should look into his batting first. Dhoni sahab Padukone jab jab match dekhne ati thi tab to aapne bade chauke chakke mare ab kya ho gaya ??? Wo to Youraj ke liye ati thi aap ne aise hi itni mehanat ki? Jara batting pe dhayan do achha rahega aapke liye.

Yes I agree. Dhoni bats like a dhobi. He doesnt have any batting technique and is successful only in subsntinent pitches. He must be chucked ut of the team

Why Dravid left captaincy?
by vsgiri on Jan 25, 2008 03:59 PM

What is happening to Dhoni would have happened to anyone else, if he had taken the captaincy mantle. The wrongs done by Sourab Ganguly and supported by some foolish people have created a similar problem to Dravid and Chappel. They never wanted Sourab atleast for the onedayers as Chappel was here to build a good young team. Although Sourab is a good batsman there
are several negative aspects attributed to him which are not hidden but open. First and foremost, he tries to dictate terms which we have seen at the Pakistan ground where before everyone he tried to creat a scene. Secondly, he is the cricketer to have received the maximum strictures from ICC for bad behaviour and indiscipline. Thirdly, in the recent Sydney test when Kumble made a statement that only one team played in the true spirit of the game ,he came out with a statement questioning the very spirit of Kumble and categorically expressed that he liked the Aussies way of approach. It is very unfortunate that even before
the one-day series starts a section of the public would like India to loose badly just because one player is not included although Laxman has a better record than others in the recent concluded Test matches. I hope good sense will prevail and see that India wins the one-day comfortably under Dhoni.

dhoni wants everyone out
by Vivekanand Venkataraman on Jan 25, 2008 12:22 AM | Hide replies

u know nwhy dhoni wants dravid and ganguly out... its purely becuase he wants to cash on the oppurtunity and take all the endorsments to his a/c
tendulkar has too much on stake so no one can remove him .. he has a BIG lobby behind him.

So the poor guys left are dravid and ganguly and they have been dropped..

Media plays a very crucial role... i dont remember dhoni playing a major innings after the 2005 pak series but he still is called "dho"ni!
20/20.. he was a bad perfomer... even though the team won..aus series.. so far pathetic.. aus home series.. pathetic... hisdays are counted and soon he will be replaced by karthik for tests..

Does any here think Ganguly will select himself ?
by Anniyan on Jan 24, 2008 02:45 PM

Does any here think Ganguly will select himself if he is Chairman of Selection or for that matter captain. I think the answer is NO knowing the kind of Person ganguly he is. Reason
1) He chose Harbhajan over kumble, in some matches
2)He never preffered Laxman (same logic no great running btw wickets)
3)He made Dravid keep some times to get the team balance right
4) He asked to Sachin to go down when didn't want to
He did take Many Bold decision which are highly commendable and which gave gr8 thing to India team. And I think one more legacy he has passed on is Taking touch decision, we shud analyze this exclusion dispassionately.Instead of wasting our energy in crying politics.

Powar and vengsarkar are adopting different yardsticks for Maharashtrians and Non Maharashtruans, If becasue of old age and poor fielding, Sourav, Laxman and Dravid have to be dropped, what is the logic in having Tendulkar, is it becasue he is a Maharashtrian like Powar and Vengsarkar ? India , When you are going to come out of the Parochialitic attitude

you are dead right jambu...there are double standards in terms of performances also...Yuvaraj can not put bat to the ball and faced 8 batting failures since he landed in Australia and still he is in ODI side..to add sault to that..he is vice captain of that side...and Ganguly is dropped from ODI side......

Tinker with openers...
by Alok Dheer on Jan 23, 2008 05:56 PM

Since this is one off decision, I expect the team will open with Irfan and Sehwag, thereby accomodating Bhajji at no 7 or 8

why is vengy keeping quiet
by vox populi on Jan 23, 2008 04:23 PM

after crying and begging for 40 lakhs, vengy has kept quiet--this after the board told him to (or pretended to) buzz off--so what gives? why is he still around--does he have other sources of income?any other interests other than harming indian cricket?

Adelaide Test- Karthik to replace Dhoni
by Loin Prince on Jan 23, 2008 03:34 PM  | Hide replies

Since Indian team is thinking of playing 5 bowlers. Ideally we should pick following:
1.Virendra Sehwag
2.Dinesh Karthik
3.Rahul Dravid
4.Sachin Tendulkar
5.Saurav Ganguly
6.VVS Laxman
7.Irfan Pathan
8.Anil Kumble
9.Harbhajan Singh
10.RP Singh
11.Ishant Sharma

Since Karthik is quite successful as a opener, he should be given additinal responsibility of wicket keeping for this test to give perfect combination & balance to team. Keeping Dhoni out is tough decisions but since he is not a great success in australia till now & if 5 bowlers need to be fit in & don't want to remove any one of the top-5 (Sehwag/ Sachin/ Dravid/ Laxman/ Ganguly) this approach will allow Anil to accomodate 5 bowlers and 2 opener.

Yes, and go for a spectacle. Lion King's observation is correct. Trust India will go by that only.

There is no revenge against any one here but since you can't drop Sehwag or Sachin or Dravid or Laxman or Ganguly (only 1 of these can open i.e Sehwag) and with 5 bowlers you left with one position i.e. wicket-keeper Batsmen. Since Karthik has proved himself as a opener and he is specialist wicket-keeper, it make sense to use him as wicket-keeper and opening Partner along side Sehwag for this test only.
