Shaun Pollock represents one of the few remaining gentlemen cricketers. He was thrown out after SA's poor outing in WC 2003 but took it in his stride and continued for 4 long years to contribute what best he could, without indulging in politics, though playing under a much junior captain.
When he was sidelined during the last 12 months or so, and damaging reports were released to say that he will be replaced by a "faster" bowler, one though he would have quit then and there. But he hung on grimly without a squabble. Perhaps it is not a day too soon. Had it been India, a four wicket haul or a 50 would encourage and entitle a player to stay on for another decade!
Inspector Bharat from Suraag - The Clue, has established this theory: Shaun Pollock announced his retirement in protest of Harbhajan's three test ban !!
here is another great falling to the prey of dirty politics!!! pollock could have easily added anther 3-4 yrs in his CV before retiring but has done prematurely because of politics!!!! how come a class player of his caliber be sidelined for 6 test matches???? his greatness will be realised after his retirement!!!!
