Boomerang

Australia is the place where playing boomerang is famous. (An object, roughly L shaped, is thrown into the air, which travels fast and returns to the thrower himself).

It is a good coincidence that Aussies, for long masters of sledging out rather than outplaying the opposition on skills, are getting a taste of their own game.

When Symonds decided to provoke Harbhajan on the field, he should have been man enough to accept what Harbhajan gave him back. What is the use of having a giant physical personality, if he behaved like a school kid in rushing to match referee to lodge a complaint?

Also, isn't it funny that nobody seems to bother what exactly were the words which Symonds hurled at Bhajji? I don't think for a moment that Symonds is a saint and he recited some verse from the Bible or whatever else is his religious scripture!

However much we may discuss about all these antics, the worst part of the whole drama is the match referee Mike Procter. Shashi Tharoor was forthright in pointing out that India has a proud and consistent record of being anti-racist and Mike Procter is part of the regime in SA that perpetrated aparthied. How on earth can a referee give a judgement without having any concrete evidence and on top of that say that he was certain that Bhajji had made racial comment?

Any sane Indian should be thankful to BCCI, who for a change from their normal behaviour, taken a proper stand in the matter.

raj very well said....When aussies abuse, it is called mental disintegretion, but when india does it, then it is abuse...wow for double standards. The problem is with the match refree who just seem to believe the aussies more that concrete evidence.

let them play the game
by padmaja s on Jan 12, 2008 11:48 AM

it is quite common to react when somebody is irritated. common slang words should not be taken seriously.

what provoked harbhajan should be considered and the matter should be ignored. If everything that happens in the field is taken so seriously interest in the game is lost. It is a great blow to the game , game lovers and the players. They will never be able to play their actual game this way. So please stop this nonsense

Cmmon, we are just enjoying game of cricket.

This maa-ki and bahen-ki is part of galli cricket in India and all our players have come from galli cricket or knocking what they call it.

Its media who is responsible and vengeance is alos one of the main issues which is going on in this series in a large scale I guess.

Fight but with bat and ball and not with tongues !!!!

Jeeth ke bathao....as a team khelo....and bring laurels to India

NEW ICC RULES
by Girish Vijayan Nair on Jan 12, 2008 11:45 AM  | Hide replies

(1) Ricky Ponting %u2013 (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER OF THE CRICKET ERA AND WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED ) should be considered as the FOURTH UMPIRE . As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE's decision is final and will over-ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field.

(2) While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is fielding, if the ball flies anywhere close to an AUSTRALIAN FIELDER (WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is considered OUT irrespective of whether the catch was taken cleanly or grassed. Any further clarification should be sought from the FOURTH UMPIRE. This is to ensure that cricket is played with SPORTING SPIRIT by all the teams.

(3) While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait and leave the field of play only after the ON-FIELD UMPIRE's decision (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP the ball may have missed the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES (minimum) before he is allowed to return to the pavilion. In the specific case of THE CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.

(4) UMPIRES should actively support an AUSTRALIAN batsman scoring a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will receive the complete backing of the AUSTRALIAN team and the Cricket Board.

RE:NEW ICC RULES

(5) Every AUSTRALIAN player is entitled to sledge and keep commenting about opposing players on the field. The OPPONENT TEAM should never comment as they will be spoiling the spirit and mood of the AUSTRALIAN team. Any comments made in a language other than English will be considered as RACISM.

(6) MATCH REFREE's decisions will only be taken on the advice of the AUSTRALIAN TEAM. Views of players from the other teams will not be considered for hearing as it would severley work against the record breaking 1winning streak of the Australian team.

(7) NO VISITING TEAM should plan to win in AUSTRALIA. This is to ensure that the 'competitive' spirit of the Australian team and the winning streak of AUSTRALIAN CRICKET is maintained.

(8) THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE : If any bowler gets RICKY PONTING - "THE UNDISPUTED CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY IN THE GAME OF CRICKET" more than twice in a series, he will be banned for the REST OF THE SERIES. This is to ensure that the world's best batsman and captain can break all records and create cricketing history.

All visiting bowlers are reminded to be very mindful of this rule.
