Instead of prosecuting Ponting over the catch, file a lawsuit against him !!
by S Chandra on Jan 12, 2008 07:48 AM

India should not try to prosecute Ponting over the catch he claims, because its a case of "did he really know about the ball being grounded" or "was the catch complete ?" There's a lot of grey there.

Instead India should focus on putting a defamation lawsuit on him, for which he has to be taken to court. The defamation lawsuit should come from Harbhajan's lawyers, where if no evidence is found against Harbhajan in the racism case, it should be argued that Ponting made up this story to remove Harbhajan from the series, and take revenge for how Symonds was trated by the crowds in India.

That he made up this story based on Harbhajan's past history.

And the others providedfalse testimony.

For that Ponting and Symonds should go to jail ! Or at best, they should be fighting a legal case for the better part of their lives !!

If there's no proof against Bhajji (and there isnt so far, looks like), the chances of putting Symonds and Ponting under a defamation lawsuit are very strong indeed.

Harbhajan should sue them !! He will win for sure !! Come'on Bhajji do it, we are behind you !!!

cricket is not a game anymore
by john louis on Jan 11, 2008 07:05 PM

Cricket spoils our Indian children, our economy, and what not. Ban cricket in India and develop other games.
Bhajji said the word "monkey" or not is the question. The very way he reacted is questionable. Let aussies behave anyway they like. But, we have to maintain our clean on-field behaviour.
My humble request for our Indian cricketers is never appeal hereafter thro' out the aussies tour!!!!!!

Cricket, as the Australians would have us play it.
by S Chandra on Jan 11, 2008 11:31 AM

This is how the Aussies want cricket to be played. You know hard and fair.

An example (Harbhajan walks out to bat) -

Ponting : Welcome to the crease you descendant of a truck driver. How's your mother and my kids ?

Bhajji : What ?? Is this the way you people talk to visitors to your country ?

Ponting : Yes, its called the hard but fair way of playing cricket, you c**nt.

Bhajji : Well, Im going to report this to the match refree.

Ponting : Dont bother, we already bought him. Btw, Im going to kill your family tonight.

Bhajji : This is an outrage.

Ponting : Yes, but as you can see, I havent made any racist comment so far, u illegitimate descendant of a toilet sweeper.

Bhajji : This is too much, get lost u monkey !

Ponting : Waaaaah !How dare you call me a monkey ?? Im going to run to the match refree now.

Bhajji : What ! What about all the things u just called me ?

Ponting : You cant blame us for that, we are Australians u see. Its in our culture to call people abusive names u c. We cant help it.

And since I cant face your bowling, Im allowed to make up false charges to have u removed from the series.

Thats our definition of playing cricket the "hard" way. We have to swear in order to play our cricket. I mean everyone knows in this world that unless you swear like an uneducated sailor you cant play tough cricket. You're in trouble mister for calling me a monkey.

... and the rest is history ..

Our players are lieing to hide their incompetence
by Raman on Jan 11, 2008 10:17 AM  | Hide replies

Every day the story keeps changing, first Harbhajan didnt say it then next day Kumble says he offered a apology even if he didnt say it,then next day its Symonds who started it(how can he start it when it was Bhajji who hits Brett Lee in his butt, man thats gross) and then next day Sachin sends SMS and next day he hasnt sent a SMS,guys dont u see it,these guys are lieing, most of these things happened during match fixing times as well,he said you said finger pointing.
Atleast 3 players would have their effigies burnt namely Dhoni,Dravid and Yuvi for the way they have played so far and now it is all diverted.
They are making it sound as if no match ever was decided by bad umpiring, what about SK Bansals generosity to Bhaji in 2001 series and AV Jayaprakash and so many other umpires cheating? And have Indians never started a sledge, what about the recent one between Mohd Yousuf and Kumble?
Guys dont support these liars and cowards, they want the match fees as well as pretend as if they want to abandon tour, they are just bunch of losers finding a good excuse. Why even play Aussies if they think they are cheats and sledgers?
Did Aussie cheat in 2003 WCUP final or those ODI matches theyve been winning against us for ever?

You are absolutely right..actually our team is hiding the poor poor performance by staying in this kind of controversial news...I agree one or 2 bad decisions in this match..but why dont we accpt the fact that we dont have commitment and talent what aussies have...let accept accept the realities...my question is..why india cld not EVEN DRAW THE TEST..3 wickets in last over..this our standard...

getting our top players out by blunder of dicision and then getting rid of our tailenders is not what a champion teams is expected to do. If you want to know how champions behave ask anybody the glourious day of West Indies. Fair and Fair

All hail champion Ponting
by chris on Jan 11, 2008 09:53 AM

Destroyer of Nations (like India), conqueror of pitches and captain champion. When all is said and done he will be known as the 2nd greatest ever batsmen behind only SIR Don (another Aussie champion), will hold all meaningful batting records beside average (will ALWAYS be Bradman's) and the most successful cricketing captain EVER. He is a god amongst you little billion ants, his name is immortal, and no amount of Indian tantrum chucking can stop this fact.

Ponting can not correct himself
by Aftab on Jan 11, 2008 09:13 AM

Expecting a good behaviour from Ponting & Co is as absurd as the thinking that the tail of a dog will get straigtened if buried for a long period of time.

They are used to hurling abuses on the batsman of all coutries to break their concentration and take a short cut to victory.

This time they have been caught telling lies and Indian Team has done the right thing to teach them a lesson.

We can not forget the indescent behaviour of Ponting of uhing aged Sharad Powar on the dias in India.

The India of 1947 and 2007 are vastly different in all parameters. Perhaps we ignored many abuses hurled on us during those old days. But now it is time for Australia and the rest of the world to bring a change in their attitude and start respecting India else we will pay back in their own coin.

It was indeed a pleasing thing to note that India did not succumb to any pressure and is marching towards getting justice to Bhajji.

Australians top cricket team a joke- Bucknor a match fixer???
by sujata vivek shah on Jan 11, 2008 08:55 AM

One constantly hears of Australian team as the best team.My personal opinion is that it a joke which got exposed by technology.Bucknor I would feel is not only bad umpiring but should be investigated for match fixing,or if he had a deal with the Australian. Why does player always get picked up for match fixing umpires should also be investigated
What the Indian team did was correct.

ICC Amateurs...
by Kabothi Kumar on Jan 11, 2008 08:52 AM

It's so sad that a professional game is run by an amateur board.

In which other sport in the world would an umpire/referee ask whether someone cheated? Blistering Barnacles.... Will Graham Poll ask Rooney whether he tripped someone? C'mon, guys. Cricket Administration should grow up and not rely on the so-called-integrity of "thugs" like Ponting...

First stop being selectively honest Mr.Integrity
by Rakesh on Jan 11, 2008 08:23 AM  | Hide replies

What is Cheating: Knowingly taking unfair advantage of a situation. By that definition, any batsman who doesn't walk after nicking a ball is a cheater. Its natural instinct of a batsman to look at wicket keeper or slip cordon after he nicks a ball. But of someone doesn't do so and stands his ground, that means he is intending to cheat.

If OZ cricketers say they don't walk and that's how they play the game, then its fine. But at the same time Mr.Integrity shouldn't be preaching the visiting teams that they should take the word of the fielder for granted and walk. You can't pick and choose to be honest in one part of the game and say you want to leave it to the umpire in another aspect and then still say your integrity shouldn't be questioned.

Guys don't tell me that the catching agreement if to save time. Its nonsense. When an umpire can call third umpire to confirm whether a fielder has touched the rope or not before declaring a four (the whole thing would hardly make a difference of 1 or 2 runs), I think he can surely refer dubious catches to third umpire.

The problem with Ponting is he just refuses to take criticism. When someone criticises you, you can do 2 things. One is to go into auto denial mode and just deny every accusation, the other is to sit back and analyze things and take corrective action, if necessary. What Ponting and his team and most of OZ fans are doing is the first. But I must admit there are some OZ fans who did the second and are asking their t

Ponting has lost credibility even in Australia. Recent polls suggests OZ"s have greater respect and admiration for Kumble. This is unheard of among OZ's. OZ's trust Kumble more than their own players.
