India should not try to prosecute Ponting over the catch he claims, because its a case of "did he really know about the ball being grounded" or "was the catch complete ?" There's a lot of grey there.
Instead India should focus on putting a defamation lawsuit on him, for which he has to be taken to court. The defamation lawsuit should come from Harbhajan's lawyers, where if no evidence is found against Harbhajan in the racism case, it should be argued that Ponting made up this story to remove Harbhajan from the series, and take revenge for how Symonds was trated by the crowds in India.
That he made up this story based on Harbhajan's past history.
And the others providedfalse testimony.
For that Ponting and Symonds should go to jail ! Or at best, they should be fighting a legal case for the better part of their lives !!
If there's no proof against Bhajji (and there isnt so far, looks like), the chances of putting Symonds and Ponting under a defamation lawsuit are very strong indeed.

I m really shocked to hear that the Australians who are in particular called as the World Champions are making the Cricket lose its Spirit and now the statements given by Punter to the cricket media is also unfair after wht everything has happened.In my point of view it is not the players but the Captain who needs to know the rules of the game and play it in a fair manner. A captain should lead from front and boost the players to play a natural game but not to take the role of the Empire and giv decisions.

aussie players behaviour was spoilt b'cos of ponting and his predecessor, steve waugh.....mark taylor and border were gentlemen and kept their team(mouths) under control. though australia wins more matches under steve waugh and ponting, they have lost their 'character'. they cant live peaceful lives b'cos of their characters.........
aussies are such a shameless lot that they are not scared of any one & blatantly keep on lieing, they will stoop to any extent is for whole world to see. aussie media is not far behind, when all 3 umpire openly favour aussies (8 wrong decisions in a row, one is enough to change the result of a game between two balanced teams) they will at best say we feel for india & bad umpiring. icc will say bucker is to umpire in 3 test also. aussies claim catches when they are grounded, they wont move even when out & wait for umpires decision whom they already bribed heavily & then claim we play hard & in spirit. one bad decisions may be because of lack of concentration but so many wrong decisions prove beyond any doubt that all three umpires were bribed to their fill. aussies media will simply ignore it, but icc wont see this, & in order to divert world attention will ban any indian player without any reason or rhyme. its very painful that bcci has left a lot more to be desired & all fell pray to harbhajan ban, whereas the crux of the 2nd test was match fixing between umpires & aussie players & their unsportman spirit which has touched record low level. for god's sake take the issues of continous CHEATING by aussies in the match, intentionally wrong decision by umpires & incessant lieing by australian players & bulling indian players by abusing them. icc should be asked to come clean on the issues to prove it is not biased, unfair to india, proctor, bension & buckner shd be punished

Aussie cheating= Aussie score 450 runs(due to umpires) and Indian batting - 5 wickets.Enough to lose a match against any country. What is cheating then????If not this.Ricky Ponting killed the game by being part of all of this.Kumble should have just abondoned the match on the 5th day,just like Inzimam.

Aussies cricket players specially ponting, clarke and symonds are black spot for australia. Australians are known for their fighting spirit but because of these three big black spots now australian cricket is going to remembered as big big cheaters(They are world champs in cheating)
After watching the test match, someone has written some rules have to be incorporated by ICC to give the other teams a perfect clarification
(1) Ricky Ponting %u2013 (THE TRULY GENUINE CRICKETER OF THE CRICKET ERA AND WHOSE INTEGRITY SHOULD NOT BE DOUBTED) should be considered as the FOURTH UMPIRE. As per the new rules, FOURTH UMPIRE decision is final and will over ride any decisions taken by any other umpires. ON-FIELD umpires can seek the assistance of RICKY PONTING even if he is not on the field. This rule is to be made, so that every team should understand the importance of the FOURTH UMPIRE.
(2) While AUSTRALIAN TEAM is bowling, If the ball flies anywhere close to the AUSTRALIAN FIELDER(WITHIN 5 metre distance), the batsman is to be considered OUT irrelevant of whether the catch was taken cleanly or grassed. Any decision for further clarification should be seeked from the FOURTH UMPIRE. This is made to ensure that the cricket is played with SPORTIVE SPIRIT by all the teams.
(3) While BATTING, AUSTRALIAN players will wait for the ON-FIELD UMPIRE decisions only (even if the catch goes to the FIFTH SLIP as the ball might not have touched the bat). Each AUSTRALIAN batsman has to be out FOUR TIMES (minimum) before he can return to the pavilion. In case of THE CRICKETER WITH INTEGRITY, this can be higher.
(4) UMPIRES should consider a huge bonus if an AUSTRALIAN player scores a century. Any wrong decisions can be ignored as they will be paid huge bonus and w

Australia won the test because of unfair umpiring and...u were supposed to loose the match by big margin.Symnonds was given not out 3 times.Hussy & ponting twice. Even Dravid and Ganguly were not out. Aussies are not a champion team.they can go to any extent to win...Aussies dont have sportsman ship.....waste to all ur wins...we all consider that INDIA won the sydney test.

Aussies played like wild dogs. Indian like to loose the match, but they do not want to play a without true sportsman spirit. Even if India loose next 10 matches we Indians do not mind but we do not like accept a single victory without a true sportsman spirit. Winning and loosing is a part of the game, but cheating is a crime, that%u2019s what Aussies do, a big shame. We Indians respect honesty...... Our legendry player like Rahul , sachin they don%u2019t wait for umpires decision after edging the ball, try to learn some game spirit from Indians...

noir, yes i agree tat australia has won 16 tests in a row.n my team INDIA lost.but the issue here is not winning the match rather how ur team australia won the match.if ponting says tat his team played in the spirit of the game,then he shud hav asked the umpire to ask the third umpire(ganguly's matter)coz ganguly was pretty sure the ball had grassed.INDIAN PLAYERS walk off the field wen they know tat they r out without even waiting for the umpire to signal them.but ur team players wait for the umpire to give the signal out even wen its caiught by the first slip. well we dont mind if australia wins 30 matches in a row keeps creating records.but one thing is sure the australian team has lost respect from majority of the cricket lovers n they r cheats. remember one thing west indies were a champion side at one point of time n now they r in the bottom ranks.the same fate awaits australia also.they may be the champions now but in future their fate is going to be the same as west indies.
