hi mr.australia,

first of all no one asked for your opinion. secondly the article simply brings out the true things that happened and Raj Natarajan is not saying something that does not make sense. Ponting and Symonds agreed that they were out but did not walk away as they wanted to cheat. We have seen so many indian batsmen walk away when they knew they were out. And it would be perfect to say that they are cheaters and would do anything to win. Secondly the whole world, including your great australia is dependent on
India hi-tech expertise as they save money by doing that and provide them excellent results. Still most of the white countries in the world are racist against india and indians. When they dont respect India for providing them with such services, why would an Indian residing elsewhere not protray his/her thoughts which are based on true facts and not lie and cheat like your great australian team. Dude grow up. Speak up Indians !!!!

They are not condemning Australia, they are condemning the Aus-cricket team only.

You said you Ashish Mallela, you an Indian are in USA, in/around Irvine...you dont support George Bush, correct? (maybe you do!)

Educated NRIs, support what is good and reject what is bad. It is only janitors like you that immigrate to USA who bring a badname to all NRIs.

Aussies
by laligam sekhar on Jan 08, 2008 11:09 PM

The bottom line is that Australian players (the majority of them) cheated, and there has been no disciplining of this. Aussies will continue to cheat until and unless their behaviour is corrected. You said that the majority of Australians are fair, and I respect that. But for these sports stars to cheat consistently (particulary Ponting, Clarke, Clarke, and Symonds), there must have been something wrong is the way that they were raised as children, or in their later years as sports people. This is no differenct from the drugs scandals plaguing cycling, baseball, foot ball , and other sports, or the taking of bribes by politicians. All Australians should have an open discussion about this topic, and these sports stars should be penalized, just like those taking drugs. Then, the whole world will admit that the Australians are champs. Now , every one thinks they are just a bunch of cheats. In fact, Bangla Desh can be a champion, even if they are last, but follow ethical principles on and off the field.

shameless bcci
by . on Jan 08, 2008 10:57 PM

bhajji is charged on the very next day for racial abuse. but for hogg, he will face it in perth ie after a week. y so much delay by biased icc?

bcci just doesnt want to lose the money from the ausi tour. no consideration for pride among them. the issue is not only of biased umpiring but mainly of the charge of racism levelled against indian player.

if they hv guts they can fight not merely for ban on bhajjji but also against the fine (so-called deterrent for calling off the tour.)

it appears that bcci is just taking time to calm down the issue.

now i think inzamam was really brave against eng, as he considered a ball tempering penalty of 5 runs imposed on pak team as a case of cheating not merely against pak team but as a charge levelled against pak nation.

if bcci does not call off tour, then team shud protest
by . on Jan 08, 2008 10:57 PM

if shameless bcci is not heeding to team's request then team shud protest in a manner like some1 rightly suggested in the forum.

ind shud send 2 tailenders to open in the perth test, let one of them b out on the score of 0 only. then dont send any other batsman to the crease, let 3rd, 4th and all players in the team to b bowled out coz of 2 minutes time for coming on to bat.
so the ind score will b 0/10.

during ausi batting, let ausi play to the underarm boling from ind. that also like a ball thrown to a child of 3 years old.

Let's watch ourselves too

Now that some satisfactory conclusion is being reached let's do some introspection too. I do not myself think Bhajji should be banned and in fact I think that Symonds was provocative both in Australia and in India and invited the hatred of the crowds and not any racism.

That said, we should also see the kind of hysterical responses some of us have written and expressed here and elsewhere. The abuse, the use of the derogatory words such as Kalia and such, show that many of us highly emotional and have no discipline and control over ourselves. All in the name of righteous indignation. There was even a real Indian monkey here on rediff who responded expressing hatred for South Indians and called them names. So, the question is how mature are we? Are we capable of thinking cooly and calmly on our feet without going ballistic and being immature in crisis situations and in provocative moments? Lashing out at people in anger-generated madness seems to be one of our traits and the world knows that - in fact many autralians commented on that. Only those who can control their aggression can get things done and still command respect.

About color consciousness, I know that both in the North and in the South (especially North) people are very conscious of people's "fairness". They want their children to get married to fair Indians and comment on how fair or dark someone is all the time. This MUST GO! Some Indians who are very fair even think they are somehow very superior

Exactly! Your point is very much right. India may be the only huge market in the world of fairness creams. We attribute great respect and servile attitude to the white colour in India and that is reflected in the row between South and North. However, the hard maintained racism in India has no place outside India where they treat all Indians as dark.

Well, we have no servile attitude to white color. We have servile attitude to have look alike attributes of those who are the most powerful in the world. Whites are the most powerful in the world, so we want to be like them. Lets say 100 years from now, non whites get stronger, may be india, then automatically there will be a trend to be more tanned.

People are attracted to power and not color. Color is just a "manifestation" of power.

PS: You won't find many japanese fascinated to white skin.

I come from Punjabi North India and I say that people of south India are blood of my blood and flesh of my flesh. When North was under constant attack from Muslims, it was South who preserved our Great Hindu Civilization. After 1947 when britisher left, majority of our diplomats and scientist came from south, else we would have been left far behind.
As an Indian, I thank people of South India of holding out when their brothers in North were not in the best of the positions.

GOT LEFT OUT:

Some Indians who are very fair even think they are somehow very superior to other Indians. But when they go abroad (irony of ironies) many of them are referred to as sand niggers for example. So, let us see the idiocy behind our narrowness and learn to be better Indians before we ask others to be better themselves. Only then will we be truly respected and believed.

Lets get on with the tour. Aussies are great people and great cricketers...it was the stupid umpires - Steve Bucknor in particular..hes trouble everytime he stands for India..wonder if he has anything personal..much like the Sri Lankan umpire DeSilva picked up Ganguly...Pakistani umpires Rauf & Aleem Dar leaves much to be desired as well....but we cant bring back Dickie Bird or Venkat.

We could let the bats talk, but then if the ball fails to contact the bat and you are still given out, there's very little going, to make the bat talk.
