Actual Result at Sydney !!
by Joseph Judy on Jan 14, 2008 07:34 AM  | Hide replies

Hi everyone... I'm from Chennai, India.
I have seen many messages that appreciates Australia and justifies their victory. There are also many messages that

asks India to 'grow-up' and not to act like kids. The true Australian cricket fans know what had happened during the

second test match. India was at the receiving end, thanks to the umpires. Let's forget about the racial slur or the

uncanny sportmanship displayed by the Australians on the final day.

Let's review the match again. Let's see the actual result of the match if the umpires would've not committed the

following blunders:-

First Innings- Score 463

Blunder 1# Australian skipper Ricky Ponting nicked a Sourav Ganguly delivery going to the leg side to wicketkeeper

Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ponting, who was at 17, did not walk as Benson turned down the appeal. The skipper went

on to score 55.

-- Ponting 17 instead of 55 (scored 38 more runs)
-- So after the first blunder, the actual score should be 463-38 = 425.

Blunder 2# The blunder which probably changed the course of the match. All rounder Andrew Symonds edged

Ishant Sharma to Dhoni but to the horror of the fielding side, Bucknor remained unmoved.
-- Symonds was at 35
Symonds was given another reprieve when the third umpire shockingly erred in giving him not out on a stumping

appeal. Symonds was at 48. The right hander went on to score an unbeaten 162 to take Australia to safety after

being 134 for six.

--So

..........MESSAGE CONTINUES IN REPLY DUE TO LACK OF SPACE..............................
--So even if he could've been given out at 48 instead of 162 (scored 114 more runs)
-- So after the second blunder, the actual score should be 425-114 = 311
Remember I have not included the plumb LBW decisions that's been turned down by the umpires during the first innings. There were atleast 4 decisions that went against India.
So Australia's actual first innings score should be - 311 runs. India's first innings score - 532 runs. So the actual India lead should be 221 runs.

Second innings -
Blunder #1 Hussey edged one from RP Singh to Dhoni but the umpire were unmoved. Hussey
was on 45 at that time and went on to score an unbeaten 145.
--Hussey 45 instead of 145 (100 more runs)
--So Australia's actual score should be 401 - 100 = 301
Australia declared their innings with 3 wickets left including Hussey. So if we would've excluded him from the equation then the actual score should've read as 301/8 dec. But if Austarlia should've not dec then there are
always possibilities that India would've taken the last two wickets quickly. Even if Austarlia would have made any partnership, let's say a maximum of 50 runs to the least, then eventually the second innings would've ended at 351 runs. So after all the above scenarios, the actual scores would've finally read as,
AUSTRALIA - 311 RUNS (1ST INN) & 351 RUNS (2ND INN)
INDIA - 532 RUNS (1ST INN)
India's actual target would be 131

India scored 210 runs. However when the score was at 131, India were 5 wickets down.
So India eventually won the second test by 5 wickets.

The umpires did it all for Australia.

Let me be frank. I love Australian cricket because of the high level of professionalism that's been shown by the players. But at Sydney, it was upside down. I was very much disappointed.

I hope that there shouldn't be anymore blunders in the remaining two tests. Let the best team win with true spirit. All the best for both teams!!

You missed the Oxenford decision
by Jim on Jan 09, 2008 02:05 PM

You missed the Oxenford decision on Symonds.

You also missed Bucknor not referring one to the third umpire with Symonds.

There were at least 5 LBW shouts that we did not get.

Forget the umpiring blunders. During the 1982 Pakistan series in the first 4 tests there were 26 LBWs against us and 4 against Pakistan. We did not care because there was no ill treatment.

Here our team is being abused by Mike Proctor who has clearly stated that WHITE is RIGHT. That combined with the completely dishonest ways of Ponting make this series a KILL series for the team.

BCCI has made the blunder of not pulling the team out. Money does talk. I hope these guys have it in them to crush the Aussies for the rest.

Agreed Singh does have a small history; All Aussie cricketers have a darker longer history (oooh word 'dark'....sorry mayt, not used in the context of 'race')

Good case of 'pure carbon' calling the kettle black?!

The youtube video doesnt lie. type in "harbhajan singh bowled pietersen"
It says it all about Harbhajan singh. Abuses Pietersen and stays put for a minute despite being bowled.
Double standards by the indians.

Steve Bucknor no more...
by Sudipto Ghosh on Jan 08, 2008 04:06 AM  | Hide replies

There are reports that umpire Bucknor was run over by a road-roller. Police reports say that Mr.Bucknor was on his daily morning walk when a road-roller coming at 10 Kmph hit him from the front. It seems that Mr.Bucknor due to his poor eyesight and hearing did not see the vehicle approaching.
Reliable ICC and Aussie cricket board sources have said that Mr.Bucknor's body would be mummified and preserved on a stand and be used for officiating all subsequent matches involving Australia. When asked about how he would actually manage to signal his decision, it was said that Ricky Ponting has kindly agreed to do it for him as Ricky has had enough practice doing so in the Sydney test.
Further news as and when it comes.
