Punter's ''integrity'' act
by Somnath on Jan 08, 2008 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

Time: September 2003

Series: Pakistan-Bangladesh series

Then Pakistan captain Rashid Latif was docked for claiming a catch, when the ball had touched the ground. He was suspended for five games -- effectively missing the entire one day series between the two sides.

On that occasion, the match referee while handing out his sentence said: "As captain a lot of responsibility falls of Rashid Latif and he committed a serious offence by claiming that (unfair) catch which constitutes unfair play and a level-three offence of ICC code of conduct (offensive and penalties). Therefore, the Pakistani captain shall be banned for five one-day internationals ." Ironically, this sentence was awarded by none other than Mike Procter.

And when a similar act is committed by Ricky Ponting, his is act of "integrity". Kudos!!

That's right. What is sauce for Goose is sauce for Gander too. Thus the real villian is Mike Procter who was the Match referee in 2003 in that match also. Now who's a RACIST????

Latif banned for five matches over disputed catch

Rashid Latif, Pakistan's captain, has been banned for five one-day internationals after being found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct during the third Test against Bangladesh at Multan.

This means that Latif will miss the entire one-day series against Bangladesh. Inzamam-ul-Haq has been named captain in Latif's enforced absence. Kamran Akmal will keep wicket.

Mike Procter, the match referee, upheld a complaint made by the Bangladesh team. Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Procter said ""I have listened to both parties at length and feel there is good evidence against Latif."

Bangladesh lodged an official protest on Saturday, claiming that Latif knowingly claimed a dropped catch during the day's play. It is alleged that Latif failed to tell the umpire that he had grounded the ball which dismissed Alok Kapali.

Latif appeared to pull off a spectacular take flying in front of first slip, but television replays showed the ball popping out of his gloves as he got up from the floor after rolling over twice.

"As captain a lot of responsibility falls of Rashid Latif and he committed a serious offence by claiming that (unfair) catch which constitutes unfair play and a level-three offence of ICC code of conduct (offensive and penalties). Therefore, the Pakistani captain shall be

Pointing & his team mates have spoiled the standard of the game. Appeals have been made on Grounded ground. Oz players have not moved when their bat edged the ball. Where is the spirit left in the game

Your kind attention friends
by Sharad Saxena on Jan 08, 2008 07:07 AM

Dear friends,

Actually Australia has a mission " Win most consecutive wins " and they use all tricks (legal / illegal) few are the examples
1)- Target main bowlers by of opposition blaming " CHUCKER " ....examples are SHOAIB AKTHAR , MURALIDHARAN , HARBHAJAN (he is unplayable to Ponting)
2)- Take the services of umpires and match refree if the Aussies are not able to perform better SPECIALLY against sub continent teams like INDIA, PAKISTAN and SRI LANKA
3)- The most important and most serious one (BCCI , PCB and LANKAN cricket boards ar responsible for that)......
Holding most of the key posts in ICC by WHITES however more than 70% revenue come from sub continent means INDIA, PAKISTAN and SRI LANKA

Few people have suggested that we will leave cricket for the pride of Nation and I salute their emotions for the Nation but in my opinion if Cricket boards of INDIA,PAKISTAN,SRI LANKA and BANGLADESH join hands then these WHITES monopoly can be challenged and if they dont agree then these WHITES(Australia, England etc..) will force to leave cricket because cricket is not that much popular there and we have seen on TV that their SMALL CAPACITY stadiums are VACANT during matches but our LARGE CAPACITIES stadium are HOUSE FUL!!!! Where do they stand against us as far as cricket is concerned...

the whole world has seen what has happened.was it the bad umpiring or unsportsmanship ?!!
there is nothing else remaining that has to be proven. we all know who has been the champions of the sport (in the true spirits of the game).what if the ozis have clinched the series; at least we can still teach them a lesson or two about sportsmanship. we should not suspend the tour. the ozis are really fortunate to be playing with the bravehearts...the men in blue.chakde india !!!!

Appealing for catches that were not taken cleanly.. that itself speaks about the sportsmanship of Australians. How could a captain do those kind of things? I have never seen any captain do those kind of things. May be thats why its said that Ricky Ponting is one of a kind. He will do any thing.. Sledging, heating, etc. to win the game. That very incident of him appealing for the catch when it was clearly visible that the ball was grounded, speaks about his integrity as a player.

Don't talk too much about the past. All teams in the past have had their issues. Australia's underarm bowling. Abusive tactics. South Africa's match fixing. West Indies had their woes too. Talk about what is current. Currently the Aussies are champions no doubt. However the example they are setting is very poor. Do anything to win is their moto. Cheat to win. Next thing you know they will injure, hurt and kill to win. Where does it stop. When you are on the top you have to be just and fair. Otherwise it is only a facade.
You can blame the past of Asharuddin and anyone else. That does not condone the behaviour of the Aussies right now.

I condemn what is happening at present at the Indian Cricket Teams tour down under. Its my appeal to all my fellow Indians to stand by our cricket team in this war of self esteem.

Its high time, that these adamant, arrogant Australian Cricketers should be punised for their misbehavior on the cricketing field.

If this is the team what they (Australians) claim to be invincibles, then sorry to say, it is better to stop playing with these guys, because anything that is not considered in most justifiable way cannot be tolerated, not only by the players but also the people observing and following the game.

Its a shame on the Australian Cricketers, that they playing such dirty politics (like charges against Bhajji of racial abuse just coz Ponting is unable to tackle him)to maintain their winning streak, it is very hard to believe indeed, whether is this the same Australian Team where the Legends like Sir Don, Allan border, Mark Taylor wer part of the team.

If the B word is not racist and Hogg is exonerated...
by Demo-crazy on Jan 07, 2008 11:16 PM

We can all safely use the B word against everyone in the game and say it is not racist!

In comparison to Monkey word is the B word so good? Aussie team, the umpires, the match referee Mike Procter need to think through...

Also, how do you weigh evidence? Home team player evidence gets FOUR votes and visiting team evidence gets ZERO votes... WHO ALL HEARD HARBHAJAN CALL SYMONDS MONKEY SHOULD TELL WHY SACHIN DID NOT HEAR IT? WHY WAS SACHIN'S EVIDENCE NOT WEIGHED? WAS THERE ANY AUDIO RECORDING OF WHAT HARBHAJAN SAID (did the stump mikes pick up any word he said to Symonds)? IF NOT, did Procter have any special powers to read the minds and lips of players?
