by deepak on Jan 05, 2008 12:07 PM

Remains a mystery to me...Sachin was taking those singles and gave away 2 maidens...no idea why he wouldnt go out for an all out slong in the last wicket with Sharma...was he just tyring to remain Not Out??? funny, could hv easily gone for a few sixes.

Ganguly, Dravid, Tendulkar, Harbhajan
by sri on Jan 05, 2008 04:11 AM

It was a pleasure to see them even if Rahul struggled. I was so sure Ganguly would hit a 100 and it was sad to see him get out after such confidence-filled strokes. Tendulkar and Harbhajan were magnificent.

Indians did well! And that is most important - let's not talk in terms of Bengalis or Kannadigas or Punjabis or Marathis.

Replace Jaffar, Dhoni in Tests and we can beat Australia easily
by indraneel dasgupta on Jan 05, 2008 03:55 AM

I think these are the weak links in the indian test squad now. So why not give Dinesh Kartik a chance. He can serve both as an opener and a wicket keeper.. while we can include Irfan Pathan as an extra swing bowler. That gives a better bowling attack. Regarding the opening, it makes no difference even if Kartik is out cheaply........because it has been happening already. What do you think friends?

India can win if it can get 300 in second innings
by Libran on Jan 05, 2008 02:51 AM  | Hide replies

Australia will make nearly 360-400 in 90 overs before declaring. Then India will have to score 330 or so to win. Tough but not impossible. Hope Yuv makes up his mind at last to play!! But most imposrtantly Bucknor would not have more pressure from the Super-bookie Dawood

Aussies cannot declare today if they just make 400. The best possible bet for aussies is to give a target of around 450 on day 5. so that it can be a draw or aussies win

Laxman is the Best!
by sudip majumder on Jan 05, 2008 12:56 AM  | Hide replies

Laxman is like M F Hussein of Indian Cricket. What a style (long forgotten after Vishy & Azahar)! Relished every stroke of his. Dada - No question - Laxman is the BEST - not Dada, not Sachin. Someone who constantly does best against the best must be called as such. Does not matter whether the media folks are after you or not; whether the sponsos are after you or not - in the heart of true classic cricket lovers; you would be there for ever - just like Vishy and Asahar do. BTW - need to throw Dhoni & Yuvi from the test team to the Indian ocean ... let them swim to come back to test cricket

Hey idiot, Know the game before you talk.
Laxman has 52.70 average against Australia compared to sachins 56.45 average against the same australia.

Laxman has 5 century against australia compared to sachins 8 hundreds against Australia.

Laxman has 6 fifty against Australia compared to Sachins 8 fifty against Australia.

Tell me in which way Laxman is better than Sachin even against the Best team.

Just coz you want to praise Laxman dont talk about about sachin.

Agreed both are great players. But Sachin is completely in different level compared to the rest of the players.

We have to wait and see how this all time greats perform in the second innings.making centuries on a placid wickets (first 2 days) doesn't make people all time greats.

Dhoni and Yuvraj want to become captain and vice captain respectively. They are deliberately underperforming, so that they can dethrone kumble and become captain and vice captian. So much for these norties patriotism.
These northies are as racist as the whites.

how can they get captaincy and vice captaincy when they DON'T perform?
Remember Yuvi is fighting for his test place. Yesterday he had a good chance.

Why are you pulling Northies-Southies stuff here?

Yes ofcourse!!
by Deep Indian on Jan 05, 2008 12:02 AM

With umpires like Steve Bucknor on their side, any match can be won even from a losing situation. I wonder how an umpire can make so many mistakes against one country so consistently over such a long period of time. Makes me curious whether umpire fixing has ever been considered before!! Some food for thought....

Dhoni and Yuvi are specialist ODI players
by suman das on Jan 04, 2008 11:48 PM

How come Dhoni is vice-captain of test team. His batting technique is not at all suited against quality bowler and in quality pitch.

thank god selectors made kumble the capt
by . on Jan 04, 2008 11:47 PM

thank god selectors made kumble the capt
and not allowed so-called t20 heros any extended run as capt. both dhoni n yuv proved themselves to be useless.

thank god that dhoni is not capt of ind that he cant b dropped. if ex-capt like saurav or dravid can b dropped. definitely future capt or present vice capt can b dropped.

dhoni n yuv hv proved themselves.
by . on Jan 04, 2008 11:35 PM  | Hide replies

now there is no need to persist with them as they hv proved useless against the genuine good bolrs in bolr friendly conditions.

but they r having very strong lobbying so they will b in the team even if they fail miserably for more innings n also due to pressure of ad agencies who hv invested huge money on them. yuv appears to get deal worth 100 crores with the agents.
how can genuine players perform n come up, in the given circumstances? but both need to b dropped (n not merely rested) as future of ind ckt is going to b in worst hands.

Agree with the fact that Dhoni may not have the right technique and may be found wanting in situations but the same does not apply to Yuvi. Yuvi is a good player , agree that he has hit a bad patch , give him some time , he will improve, he has been a match winner for India on so many occassions

Bad patch is one thing. Attitude is the other.
Look at Dravid. Guy is in a bad patch. He is determined to pull through and also take additional risk of opening to bat. Amazing.
