Whattan innings! WOW!
It was a treat and sheer delight to watch the classy innings. He seems 2 have a huge penchant for the Assuie bowling, as he savours every moment of his batting against them and almost singles them out. Laxman's gud innings r not an exception - he is truly classic - its just that he commits only 1 mistake in every innings, and that very mistake costs him his wicket. No wonder y, he never gets life throughout the time he spends in the middle. The time he does it, he's gone, and so U find him shocked at his own dismissal, coz he doesn't expect himself to be committing that silly mistake.
Laxman's a class act, and its only unfortunate that he always finds a sword hanging over his head so often.
I think the noise happening only on Ganguly's exclusion from the team has to do with a couple of factors (not just 1):
1. His case of dropping was almost
unprecedented - the 1st of its kind in the
current era.
2. He had scored a cetury b4 being dropped - so
the timing was that bad.
3. His side was onna winning streak at that
point of time, and it was no other than his
Captaincy responsible for success.
4. Greg Chappel, Kiran More, Niranjan Shah had
done it so unceremoniously and for non-
cricketing reasons (point # 2 and 3 above).
5. U can love him, U can loathe him, but U
cannot ignore him, as is so commonly said
about him. Ganguly's charishma far outscores
Laxman's, Dravid's or even Tendulkar's. - Samit

replace Jaffar
by indraneel dasgupta on Jan 04, 2008 04:03 AM  | Hide replies

I think Jaffar is not coping well in Australia. So he should be replaced by Pathan who can open the innings for India and attack the Aussies from ball 1. Even if he gets out early, it makes no difference as Laxman is used to coming in early now. However we have an extra swing bowler which can make a big difference in the result of the matches.

Time and again they have proven that they are the best and will ever be the best. Its proven now that with out these four we need to harvest for a very long time to get some quality people in the team. Dravid's effort has been apreciable. Even though he was not able to get the runs, he proved that he is the wall. Had dravid been dismissed earlier it would have been a different ball game altogether. Well we did not score 300 runs in a day they have really tried hard and remained focused to get a descent total. It was very visible that all the players feel that they have to do better and that was visible in the 2nd test itselt. it was not late at all for them to realise it. If this was an Indian team in olden days it would have ben a clear white wash. Our players have the best mix of attitude cool and hot. good and smart players. Saurav has been excellent in the rescent past. Let only the bat speak and not him. Hope to see Dravid in Good form... hard work always Prevails. VVS was as usual very Very Special. Not to mention Sachin he is always there for the team.

Fantsatic Four and Next Generation of Indian Cricket
by Tanoy on Jan 04, 2008 02:37 AM

I am not Indian but I am a big follower of Indian Cricket. According to my opinion It is very heard to replace the fantastic four (Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly), I have exceptional respect for all four of them as a neutral viewer. They not only made 30,000 run together but also while they bat in top form every one is getting spell bound. As Test Cricket is orginal cricket, these 4 are the biggest advertisement of this form of Crcket. That's why they are the trasure of world Cricket. But I am really worried about the indian cricket now. Dhoni, Yuvraj etc are keeping thgeir focus more on Non cricketing activities. This is the worst board of Indian cricket histroy with Politician power and Un professional Lalit Modi. According to Modi presence of SRK and Money making is main motive not cricket. They have more focus on T20 and one day. But sorry to say that Indian one day performance is not up to the mark. But one right decison they have taken to make respected
Anil Kumbley as the captain. But I am worried common people run on whims. Maximum

Of Indian viewers take Cricket as glamour and I am worried that Current Indian young brigade has not the capability to adopt with green Top surface as Fantastic four.

So Departure of fantastic four and Kumbley will make a big vacuum of Indian Cricket.

India needs another Jagmohan Dalmiya

Laxman

Few players are as much elegant as Laxman. It's treat to watch his batting. He is in the lineage of Vishwanath and azhar, doing wonders with wrists. But the moot issue is - Sachin, Sourav and Yuvraj have to rise to the occasion tomorrow morning.
