DROP - Dhoni, Yuvraj - only good in India...failure outside India
by The Don .. on Jan 04, 2008 08:06 AM

These 2 should be only picked for One day .. They lack concerntration and solidity in batting .. They can only play on Indian/ Pak etc. tracks where track is batsman friendly .

First Yuvraj was struggling against Hogg who is not even Australia's number 1 spinner. Then against Bret Lee he was rock dancing. Thank goodness Lee ended his misery by getting him out LBW. Test cricket is totally different than one dayers or T20 where the bowlers dont attack so much. Yuvraj can only succeed in tests against mediocre bowlers.

he is fit only in 20-20 and 50-50, even all youngster including dhoni, compare to dhoni, last tour parthiv had done good job.

Yuvi is going through a phase which supports people's view that he is careless.

Well, he might not be careless ... but he doesn't look serious enough at test match level.

Ganguly out after scoring 67...
Bad show since his strike rate was good, which means he did not use up enuff deliveries to frustrate the spectators.

where are the Ganguly haters gone ? Many "haters" were predicting single digits for each of his innings in Aus and no guts to face Aus pace - so far he seemed to be most consistent right behind the line for Brett Lee & co and very confident - none of the pacers could get him so far - pity he gets out to Hogg every time - stupidity though.

Haters - now find new reasons for his success or blame him for someones failure.

by Sikandar Mala on Jan 04, 2008 03:12 AM

Congrats Laxman bhai:

you are always great and keep up the good work!
Fifty in 40 balls is very impressive especally when the Wall is going through tough times with the bat!
Hope we can score at least 400 runs tomorrow but with such umpires, who knows!!
Let us NOT repeat the disaster of the FIRST TEST. Go India!!

Poor Laxman
by Gan Ann on Jan 04, 2008 02:19 AM  | Hide replies

Laxman, good job. But remember your spot is checked always for the next tour. Make another ton in the 2nd innings or in the next test. Even then your spot is not guaranteed. After all, you should have some god father in BCCI or be Mumbaikar, performace does not always matter much.

call me negative or anything. I have been seeing all my life that if you are a south indian cricketer then the tolerance level of the selectors on your performance is very low. They destoryed so many cricketers like Robin Singh. You gotta be good looking and north indian. Most of the time the administration is dominated by north Indians.

If Laxman changes his name as Sehwag than he can get better deal even after failures over more than a year

without blabering in media, any hype VVS innings by VVS Laxman
by Suman Bhat on Jan 04, 2008 01:17 AM

Superb knock.Laxman is classy player and never got the credit to his performance. A true team players siad in press brief that partnership is more imp than individual scores.
Laxman should return to odis and he should be captain for team in both forms of game

Dravid did his job
no other player came forward to opening to accomodate yuvi. And dravid being out of form asked to open batting that shows value of dravid in ind team.Dravid only batsman in ind team batted from No 1 to 8 in odis and test
Team management asking dravid to open innings shows his value in team while none other batsman come forward to open to accommodate yuvi dravid knowing that vengi has an agenda against him faced new balls and survived for some time consuming the balls. He accepted opening challenge, it shows his passion for game and commitment for team cause. In MCG dravid did not get but in test afraid to face the new ball on hard bouncy wkts...he survived almost 2 hrs in crease in first innngs and more than 2 hrs in second .excepat laxman and dravid all others batted in regular slot and failed ganguly and tendulkar with agression and positive approach scored some runs to save their face but noway help the team

..he was out after 35 overs in second innings as in crease for one full session, but other 8 batmsmen out within 35 overs less than one session . Dravid took 4 catches
. By opening dravid showed courage that he is only batsman can bat any no. can face the new ball without any fear, and always render a selfless service for team cause, can bat under pressure against best bowling..side
What about failure of jaffer, dhoni yuvraj and harbajn wktless in 1st innings.
tiger did not roar and master did not blast ??
who is performing for team

i agree with you and saying that in this tournament if fail then also he is required in the team instead of junk yuvraj/dhoni who can play in ruddy pitch only.

Against Pakistan he literally opened innings came to crease when team lost 1st wkt score was less than 10 (double fighres) AND Build partnerships with jaffer and even Blor test dravid & jafer had partnership of 35 runs and prepared a comfortable platform for middle order batsan to easy batting..
dravid was shufflled in batting order in odis before he was dropped..this did not happened to any other senior player.

Dravid did a job....it was neither good nor bad...but okay for the team's cause.
But looking at ur posts for the last few months, it seems u r supercharged about Dravid....iss ka raaz kya hai boss?
Why are u not happy when others play well? Why r u not happy when India wins?
Are u an Indian BTW, or only a Indian?
And about Dravid in 1-dayers...the less said the better.....apart from 4-5 good knocks in last 10 years, the rest have been made at a pathetic strike rate...thank your (and his) stars that his batting order was only shuffled...he should have been dropped from 1-dayers long back if his good friends (Dada and Sachin) had not backed him.
But Dhoni being from the new generation, and having spent a season under Dravid (and learning from Dravid's ruthlessness when treating non-performers and non-backers of Chappall-Dravid combo), knew exactly what had to be done with such a pathetic one-day player.
But I still hope he regains his test touch for India's sake, but please dont allow him anywhere near the 1-day dressing room (again for India's sake)

despite his elegant and aggressive knock which once again stresses the importance of batsmen like laxman, a couple of months later he could very well find himself fighting for a spot in the team to some flat track bullies who by that time will manage something worth a crap. hope they can do something memorable in the coming three days and move forward. selectors must give a serious thought about including laxman in the one day squad for the triangular after the test series(dont start the bull about poor running between wickets, fitness etc) because anyone in the right frame of mind won't be dreaming about yuvraj and dhoni doing magic in aussies against some decent aussies and SL bowling and there will be matches where consolidation will be the key rather than thinking about 350 . thanks VVS for another very very ..... and hope to see more. fortunately india didnt have to play a test at the WACA in the previous 2 tours, so we never saw laxman there. let us keep our fingers crossed. i wish it was hobart or somewhere else but perth. well, gotta go with it

100% true. This is the player who could not find place in final eleven during Bangladesh tour because all other people in good books required good scores.

Is Steve bucknot going to be an umpire in Perth? If he is then Indian Team should request Icc to replace him with umpire like symon Taufel or Rrudy.
