Is'nt it shameful from the One Day Cricket Champions Australia that they want to win at the cost of Cricket's pride. If they want to be on the winning side by doing such a shameful acts then they should be declared the winner without playing any single match and the Indian Team should drop the tour. It is really disgusting and intolerable on behalf of cricket. They have insulted the game cricket. Ricky Ponting should be ashamed of himself and he should stop playing cricet. He should retinre now if he cannot understand the game. If you have the calibre prove it in the field. You should not cheat. Amit
Looks like Australia have paid Bucknor to get back at India for Symond's being racially abused by crowd during India tour. Otherwise why would Symonds not been given out 4 times in the match once by the 3rd umpire also? It certainly looks like Australia wants to get even with India over Symonds being targetted by crowd. There cannot be any other expalnation. These decisions do not look like honest mistakes by the umpires in this match. They look deliberate and conspired. We will know more about how the decisions will be made by Bucknor and Benson when India bats.
The real character of a person and team are known when the chips are down and we have seen yesterday the true colour of this so called world champions. 1) The chips were down with early wickets and Ponting failed in his previous two outings, so he decided not to walk, when he was out. Its the same guy who was preaching a while ago that whenever a fielder takes a catch and its not easy for the umpires to decide whether its a catch or not, the batsman should walk, accepting the fielder's word. What's the use of talking all this rubbish when you are in winning position, do it when the chips are down, then you are honest. Perhaps, that is something which we can't except from guys who've grown up seeing their ex-captains asking bowlers to go for underarm bowling.
2) Its natural instinct of a batsman to look at the wicket keeper or slip cordon when he nicks a ball. Sometimes, when the umpires can't listen to the nick, they depend on this action of batsman to give them out. It was clear that yesterday both Ponting and Symonds chose not to look back as they clearly wanted to deceive the umpire.
Morale of the story: Stop calling these bunch of idiots a Great team. They are just good enough to beat any side, but never a great team as they lack in sportive spirit. And for God's sake stop comparing Ponting with the greats like Lara & Sachin. He is just good, not great.

There is another stumping not given against Symonds. Why did Bucknor not refer to the 3rd umpire?

It wasn't bucknor and the other ump did refer to third ump, but god knows why he didn't give him out. There was absolutely no doubt in that stumping, so go figure.

You are talking about the one from yesterday but I am talking about another decision today when Symond was on 143 a leg side stumping by Dhoni off Harbhajan and Bucknor did not even refer to 3rd umpire. So Symonds was actualy out 3 times in this innings - 2 stumpings and 1 caught behind plus a close LBW against Kumble. This guy surely had fortune in this test.

Actually Symnonds did look at the WK immediately after nicking and also started walking but when he saw the umpire unmoved, he stayed back. But that apart, Indian bowlers have totally lost the plot and seem to have fallen to the Aus intimidation. Both RP Singh and Sharma do not have the pace to trouble the batsmen now that the pitch has dried and there is no swing. Look at how Lee is playing drives on the up and yesterday Hogg did the same. Any other good bowling side would have run through the tail by now.
No doubt the umpiring was horrific and 4 incorrect decisions went yesterday. But inspite of all that, Indian bowlers seem to have lost the plot. They could not get Hogg or now Bret Lee out. They are playing so easily that it is looking more like club standard bowling at this point. Australia were able to intimidate the Indian bowlers by their aggressive batting late yesterday and also today and unfortunately Indian bowlers succumbed to that ploy. All the pre series talk of being aggressive and meeting fire with fire evaporated. I am not defending the umpiring decisions here inspite of that allowing Australians to make 400/7 after being 134/6 does show the weakness of the bowlers.

Now that the pitch is not offering any movement, what stops teh bowlers from bowling yorkers? They keep on pitching the same predictable length and even Lee is playing drives on the up. What is the Kumble doing? Last evening the bowling coach ought to have spent time with the bowlers telling them how to bowl on this wicket that seems to have dried up completely. That is why India needs a genuine quick bowler who can bowl on any surface.
Bad decisions, Its part and parcel of the game guys
even if australia win this Test, they will know that it was a hollow win, and India even if they lose it , can take pride from the fact that they did not wimper a single word of complain so far Its a gentlemans game
Instead of complaining about umpiring, Indians should fight back when they bat. They had a chance to play for draw in the 1st test and they chickened out as usual- Puk Puk Puk Pukaaaak!
