Indians should stop behaving like the Aussies. It does not make them play better cricket and only makes them targets of criticism and sets them up as bad examples.

Yeah sri, good advice. But don't you think anyone Indian (even if U-19) is being unnecessarily put under the scanner of late?

I mean, Ponting showing the finger to Bhajji goes unnoticed, whereas Ishant (of all the players) is fined? I watched the match live, and I didn't feel anything untoward. In fact, the way it appeared on the telly (and Channel 9 mind you) was that Ishant prepared himself to do the classic "hands behind the ears" pose, but gave it up midway..
He instead looked somewhere (and probably that is what caused the punishment for him) whilst his hands were coming down, but that's it.

But fair enough, he accepted (and rightly so) his punishment and will get on with the game.

However, this leaves a big question mark on the antics of many a player as to why that does not cause even an eyebrow to be raised from the CA headquarters in Melbourne or at ICC wherever (Dubai probably)..

But yes, Indian players are arrogant.. !! If that's the general perception, it needs to be changed via some curbs on the on-field player behaviour.

Indians should do the bat and ball talking. Improve performance and Australians will shut up.

Let's learn ''legal'' sledging from Kirsten
by rajendra agrawal on Feb 28, 2008 11:57 AM  | Hide replies

It is high time that we should quickly learn (by reading the Code manual thoroughly)how to do "legal" sledging like Aussies, to win in gamesmanship.
We can get good coaching from Gary Kirsten also, who has himself admitted that South Africans have also mastered this technique.
There is no point getting reprimanded as well as fined, due to our ignorance of rules, as we cannot get these rules changed in our favour.

That's simple mate.. No Kirsten needed.

Don't say monkey, and everything under the sun is allowed. Just ensure that you don't "disrespect" any opposition player in the process.

Now that's where the trick is, which Kirsten can not help us with. The opposition player can very well claim disrespect even if you say "Good Morning" to him, and the guys who will decide whether that's disrespect, are the guys sitting in ICC.

No Kirsten, Perry Mason, Pawar, Dalmiya or Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan is going to be able to influence what the "wise men in the hall of fame" think. If they believe disrespect was shown, then the said Indian player's record will continually get tarnished (latest example - Ishant).

Whereas if they feel that the wronged guy is simply paranoid and the offender is simply using language that is perfectly fine in the local jail in the district of his birthplace, then the words or actions of the offender are simply never recognized (example - Ponting, Symonds, Hayden..)

So the only option at the moment is to keep quiet and get on with the game. If we win it, good on us. If we lose, still keep quiet.

That's what Jesus Christ, Gautam Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi taught the world, and we shall demonstrate through actions.

Tanmay doing an Ishant in the Under 19 semis only proves the point how heavy toll the aussies behaviour has taken on the cricketers' unsportly hahaviour on the field totally uncalled for. Sonner the the Aussies be tamed and their aggressive tendencies curbed better for the world cricket if it wants to spread as a mass game and sports. sports need to teach tolerance and adaptability
