Sachin Tendulkar & tour of Australia
by Pallavi Sapre on Feb 28, 2008 11:24 AM

Sachin is a such great batsman & i think BCCI should give restriction for Sanjay Manjrekar's colum. Manjrekar is not a great batsman & we know what r he played that time when he in Indian Team.
BCCI should take strong disigen about Australian player spl.Pointing, Symond, Hedan

NOBODY IS NEAR TO THE GENIUS SACHIN
by sunil vyas on Feb 27, 2008 07:41 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin has always been the mild and sober ambassador of the game hardly into any controversy ever. Saachin Tendulkar, The original and real Master Blaster. genius think the way that some other people cannot think. You have to give geniuses the room because they know the game better than anyone else. He has got fantastic character. If you have mental strength, half your battle is won. Then you just need certain skills to take you through. Sachin is blessed with both. When you combine mental strength with character you get a fighter- a strong desire, technique and the will to play the game in the right spirit. Sachin is a combination of both and that is explosive. His adrenaline pumps strongly when he walks out to bat with the noise of the crowds. You can%u2019t hear yourself think with that noise. If he was limited, he would score more double-centuries and even a couple of triple tons. From the moment he arrives at the crease you know something is going to happen. He loves to dominate and take the game to the opposition. His stroke-play has made him popular with crowds around the world, that is why he plays better away from home. He has been a doyen to the game. Given the adulation and the expectations, he has carried himself in an exemplary manner. %u201CSachin%u2019s strength is his focus. He decides what is good for his game. Once you are focused, half the battle is won. The gift that he has is rare %u2013 not everyone has it. But he has not frittered it away.

Big Deal!!!
by Ruchir Modi on Feb 27, 2008 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

Huh! The whole series he got out cheaply when it mattered the most...

In a match, where two young bowlers bowled their hearts out to get a match, he came blazing against mediocre attack to chase a low total, that too after a lot of criticism being hurled over slump in his form.

And the news that makes "Tendulkar slams critics"...

LOLz...

Yeah Ruchir:
Your young two bowlers had bowled out Aussies too.. @203..
Sachin didn't fire.. what happened to the rest of the precious Indians?.. :-)
And for your information, this match was actually where it mattered the most.. coz if we had lost this, it would have opened up the finals for SL if they beat AUS.
Now even if they do, they can't enter finals.
And by the way, title can say anything.. .have you read what that modest man has to say about himself?.. compare that to what Yuvi had said after his 76.. now THAT was arrogance, and really slamming critics..
But with your narrow mindedness and precarious cricketing sense, you are not expected to note such things..

TENDULKAR
by damodaran mohan on Feb 27, 2008 12:15 PM

I do not think people reacted more than what was necessary. His own captain Dhoni in the press conference desired better performance from Paaji(Sachin), Sehwag and Yuvraj. So, why is Sachin slamming others ? Although he did play well at the easy wicket at Hobart , the criticisms of Tendulkar for his previous seven innings were fully justified. Even a Suresh Raina or Dinesh kartik could have scored the 191 runs in 8 innings ; may be they would have scored more. At least the team youngsters would not be demoralized by such great batsman falling cheaply at the top repeatedly. Besides, if only such paltry contribution , once in about ten innings is the expectation from seniors then why this double standard of dropping Saurav , Dravid and Laxman ? This much contribution they can also make. I think BCCI should forget looking forward.

but Sachin is greater than them because whether he scores or not, he keeps the opposition on their toes. The very fear of the rival bowlers makes Sachin a match-winner. Tendulkar holds the record for winning the maximum `Man of the Match' awards in one-day internationals. India has won almost 80 per cent of the one-dayers in which Sachin has scored a century. Sachin is an emperor in world cricket. Tendulkar has shone as the one man gladiator for India. SOMEONE once said "an expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing". The same applies to those experts who have conferred upon themselves the right to come hard upon someone who I would term a national asset. Tendulkar outweighs statistics and numbers. That is reflected in his altruistic and dedicated batting which thoroughly impresses even my granny. Tendulkar is a match-winner, although in a team of 11 when everyone gives his best it would be an overstatement, but the number of times that Sachin has put India within sniffing distance of a victory is a sign of his class and commitment. s it because he has not won any one-day finals in the last few years? But how many of these finals would we have reached but for Sachin? Does it not take a match-winner to win the matches which take us to the final?

Why Sachin is a match winner
by sunil vyas on Feb 27, 2008 11:00 AM

WHENEVER Sachin Tendulkar wields the willow, the nation freezes. Considering this fact, the debate whether he is a watch-winner or not seems to be redundant. Today, when Sachin goes out to bat, he has over a billion people praying for him. So, whether he is a MATCH-WINNER or not, who cares: he is a HEART-WINNER. After all, the commitment shown by him over the last decade or so towards the overall game in general and the Indian team in particular has been exemplary. Just notice the vigour and intensity with which he runs between the wickets %u2014 attempting to convert singles into two's and three's %u2014 as if his very life depended on these runs! Why, he even put aside his father's death during the 1999 World Cup %u2014 to wear his beloved India colours, despite the opponents being the lowly Kenyans. What more can we ask of him? He is a genius no doubt and deserves laurels and accolades. achin is a match winner in his own right. It is not just because of his cricketing brilliance. Its because of his sheer presence, which motivates the players and also sends shock waves into the opposition. I still remember Shane Warne in Channel 9 recollecting his duels with Sachin. Nothing can unsettle this genius. He goes on and says for a player like Sachin "we need to work out many strategies to get him out". This is where Sachin becomes a match-winner. He always keeps the opposition guessing. Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, Vengsarkar, Azhar, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly are match-winners, but Sachin is greater tha

hey dude ...der hav been tons of cricketers coming showing some class fr a while ...being compared to the mighty sachin then just disappearing like a ghost themselves...yuvraj took abt 8 yrs now too be called as a force...while dhoni is currently on a high i hope he stays till the next WC atleast ..afterall who can forget SEHWAG been termed as a clone ...or the next sachin ha ha ...he almost lost the flight to the WC this time...n still strugling ...sachin has got nothin too prove he has been a pride of the nation fr last 18 yrs and makes INDIAN team a proud owner of sachin in the international. scenario. india still require his service even if he is half the self he used to be coz no one's even close to that. even if gambhir n dhoni strike the ball better then sachin this time...till wat time they can continue to do so is still to be tested ....till then "SACHIN IS THE GR8est...."

Ctricts has to eat their words
by on Feb 27, 2008 07:15 AM  | Hide replies

Its pathetic to read the comments by former cricketers especially sanjay and kapil on Sachin. He has given so much for this country and also taken. Kapil especially has been jealous of sachin for a long time, he cant digest that he is more popular and earning more than his days.
Remember the final in Calcutta - I think its against west indies about 12 years back - I cant recall the year, can anybody help, It was the last over of the inings and Azhar was in a spot as to who to bowl, he turned to kapil, but he refused to bowl, looks on his body language. Tendulkar grabbed the ball and bowled the last over and claimed couple of wickets and India won the final.
I used to like kapil, but after that incident I could not watch him,. Remember he laboured to get his world record, evrything is not forgotten. Sanjay on his part has been always jealous of sachin.
Sachin is a legend , we have few years to watch him.
Lets be real fans. Can you imagine if India would have won all matches, we would have been arrogant like aussies. you need to be thick skinned to be indian fan, winning and loosing makes its so interesting.
So be cool guys and lets have fun.

This is not the only case where Kapil Dev is showing Double standard. He has also criticised IPL, while kapil alongwith Zee TV started the trend of league cricket in india.

Further,he was a burden between 1991-1994 on indian team. Sachin is playing lot better than him.
Dont forget ex pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif called him biggest matchfixer.

You're talking about all the right things that happened in past. Why not talk about today and tomorrow? Our players who won us the world cup in 83 can't even beat Bangladesh now. So, why keep chewing the past achievements and try and justify his place in the team.

Let me guess, Tendulkar won the MOS in the Test series against Australia in 1999 in the presence of McGrath, Lee and Warne. He have smashed McGrath many times in his career. Then again he was the highest run getter in this Test series in the presence of Lee. Shaun Pollock ? If I remember correctly, Pollock said recently that Tendulkar is one of the few batsman he was always scared of bowling to in his entire career. Any more questions ?
