IPL is hurting Beijing Sponsorships
by Rajendra Aggarwala on Feb 25, 2008 05:57 AM

The time has come when the cricket madness should pay for all other sports' promotion in the country. A law need to be passed where the revenues of BCCI, and Cricket leagues will have a tax of 5% for Sports' promotion in India, and 1% will be exclusively used for the International Olympics that are held every four years. That will benefit both the game of cricket and also all the other sports. The objective should be to get the maximum possible funds for both cricket and all other sports in the country. It should not be a zero one game, but a win win formula for all games and sports in the country.
It may also be worthwhile considering imposing an extra tax on Film Industry earnings particularly the commercial cinema in India, for promoting other arts and theatre activities.

s IPL is getting limelight, Zee News started spreading bias news and reporting war bet Dhoni-Ganguli, or Sachin helping Utthappa more.. I pitied this yellow journalism.. They have send Goofy Anurag Bharati to Australia to reporting. Should send some cattles with him so he can do some real job rather than quoting nonsense reporting .Does Subhash want to be Omni God by controlling everything.
They are not broadcasting farmers apeasement happen because of Zee's Esselworld in Mumbai

ICL and Zee failed in basics. They didn't go for franchise or club system. instead they signed players and divided into different teams. And after that tried to get some sponsors for the team. still owners of all the teams are same. that is a basic failure in a competitive sports.

Now every one is talking like money and passion. but industrialists who owns IPL clubs mean only business and they shud mean only busniess. That will make the competition serious. they always want their team to win. they expects high quality display from all the players. if some player not playing well he will be replaced fast. this will improve the game. this is happening in european soccer leagues. And this will bring best of cricket.

Those life time BABUS sitting on other sports boards - KPS Gill, Das Munshi, Kalmadi, etc etc....are the real killers of Indian Sports. they travel and fly 5 star while our state athletes travel second/general train class.

It is these BABUS and their chanchaas in Indian sports bodies who have to get lost first. No point blaming cricket.

Win first and the money will follow

ppl who think IPL will move sponsors towards cricket away from other sporst shud first do well on the international stage. If they do well the money will follow. Sania Mirza has shown it with her performance in tennis.

Money is where the heros are

after all cricket does not have more 20 nations to play and that too after including so called teams such as Kenya, Nairobi, Ireland, UAE, Scotland, etc.

despite this India does not occuppy the first place, is this what you refer to as heroism? never knew this

olympic medal is something that every nation would want. cricket is a game thats not even known in most of the nations.

genuine chance of winning an OLYMPIC GOLD??well, its not even laughable anymore. instead of cribbing about cricket assuming professionalism, they should ponder over the fact why their respective sport disciplines remain in shambles, marred by mediocrity and polliics?

I mean football - their grounds look like "grass strictly avoided"; hockey - GOLFERS are fitter than our players, anyway, run by a former COP accused of human rights violations?IOC run by suresh kalmadi?who IS suresh kalmadi and what accountability does he have?what has he done in the last n number of years he has bin the so called chief..Tennis - we have a player who cannot concentrate on her game because her countrymen find their culture increasingly under threat as the length of her skirt shortens?

what sports culture DO we have?where is the infrastructure?where is the training?

stop looking for sponsors, go find some players first.

why r u guys being so cynical by whining abt the paucity of money in other sports?? Does the brazilian or spanish public, equally ,go about ranting abt the development of cricket ??? IPL is only catering to the interests of the people, a simple equation of demand versus supply....just becoz the majority of the world plays football , is that reason enough to switch to football ???......there is no reason to be apologetic abt other sports....we have one and should be proud of it just like the brazilians

well said. these people from the 'other' sports just sit around a table, have a few drinks, curse crciket and do nothing. useless whiners. people like Joachim Carvalho, big time moaner. his comments about 20-20 world cup were simply uncalled for. instead of doing hunger strike before the assembly he should have done it before IHF's HQ to get Gill removed. Gill and Kalmadi have been laying eggs for a while. bloody whinger. can't see other people succeed. Ishant Sharma, RP Singh and Dhoni are from modest backgrounds and they made it big and we should applaud that. the so called 'other sports' people should get Jagmohan Dalmia to market their games.
