india olympics tally- -- 0 gold 0 silver 1 bronze in kho kho

This is real sports culture in India....making fools out of common people and what can be a better example of commercialization through exploitation of emotions...emotions of millions of people...who cares whether our hockey gold medalists are getting one thousand rupees pension....india is shining..huh...the number of medals in olympics is the real indication of a country health and we all know where we are...just beating australia (where cricket didnt even come in top 3 sports) in one of the five games makes us feel on heaven....but we will continue to make fool of ourselves....the real gainers are corrupt BCCI and businessmen who will make money at our emotions expense...long live india...

Real non sense

I am not against sportsmen getting lot of money but it is insanely high. IPL is just showing off its money power to the world. Premier body like BCCI has lot more responsibility in developing cricket from grass roots level. There are no good cricketing facilities in INdia for the players. If ICL started a leauge nothin wrong because it is an individual who is doing it. What is the point in spoiling youngsters like Sharma with huge money when he has just played one series( It is not his fault). The poor club which produced Ishanth is languishing for cash and facilities. The small clubs that give chance to poor prople like MUnaf Shewag etc are run by individuals who love cricket and have passion and raised money from humble small businessmen and donors who are equally passionate about cricket. These clubs have to pay Rs10,000 for each league match they play with youngsters which becomes unaffordable. Why cant BCCI spend a little bit of their billions on these clubs that produced some champions from poor youngsters.

Create history but not at poors expense
by truthisgolden on Feb 21, 2008 08:42 PM

follow cricket immensely. iam very much passionate about the game, but my schedules let me follow only indian matches out of patriotism and love for my country. I watch cricket to see india win against aussies n pakis the most. the other matches i do follow them but only on rediff or news paper for a minute or two. The same would be the case of millions of we indians. ICL and IPL cannot be successful as much as icc one days and test matches are. in the pretext of entertainment indian money to the tunes of millions of dollars cannot be showered on international players making a way for our hard earned money to go to west. The domestic circuit matches should be played to enhance the skill of our indian players not to make an hole in indian money. MORAL OF THE DISCUSSION: We indians are loosing money!!!

Is it serving the purpose of promoting cricket
by Hidden Aura on Feb 21, 2008 07:43 PM  | Hide replies

The ideas behind the ICL and IPL as projected is to promote cricket and nurture local talents who never make it beyond Ranjit Trophy. But is it going to serve the real purpose ?They are recruiting already established players and players of other countries.Just making rich more richer .No way it's promoting cricket or local cricketer...Just another Business to make money and get these cricketer richer.
