Rediff stop applauding SRK for everything

The smartest owner group was Deccan Chronicle. Symonds, RP Singh, Rohit Sharma, Gilchrist, Afridi, Gibbs, Laxman and Vaas - Wow that is some team. Also, they are spending lesser than SRK.

I am from Chennai and I am happy with the Chennai Superkings. Only grievance - I wanted Dinesh Karthik instead of Parthiv Patel

Why criticize mallya, SRK etc. for supporting the game??
by on Feb 20, 2008 08:54 PM  | Hide replies

All those people who go on and on about mallya, SRK spending their money on 20-20 teams are the ones who actually do nothing for this country. They want Mallya, SRK to build schools, hospitals etc. with the money they are spending on 20-20. I would say, if you are soo keen on building schools and hospitals, why don't you earn that much money and then build them?

Do they know that SRK is one of highest personal income tax payers in the country? He paid 27 crores of tax for year 2007!! That's a very, very big sum for personal tax. Which bollywood star pays so much tax? Or which cricketer pays so much tax? How many businessmen pay so much tax? Through his tax contribution, he is doing a lot more for the country than other people who keep talking about social service for the sake of talking.....
How many of those people who're complaining about SRK have paid even a small percentage of that tax?
I would like to know what they've done for India!
More than anything else, our country needs loads and loads of money to improve the life of our countrymen. All that hoping that our government will be corruption-free.

Your comments clearly show that sad state of India. SRK paying taxes for his income, which is required by the law, is considered social service. All of us Indians are now so apathetic that we think it is commendable that someone is actually paying taxes... Come on man. Service is something you do out of your good will not because you are required by law.

I am not saying SRK should do social service. It is his money and he has the right to do whatever he wants with it. But please don't say paying taxes is equivalent to social service.

Dude, you are really true to your name (vikatakavi).... If you read the post well, it clearly says that when someone is paying so much tax, he is in a way adding to government's kitty. Can you earn so much to contribute that much to govt's kitty? Whether he's doing it from his income or not, he has contributed Rs.27 crores to the govt which is a big sum. Tell me how many people pay so much to the govt. That money eventually gets used for public use.

As for the law, so many businessmen, cricketers, politicos, filmstars earn equally huge amount of money but why they don't abide by the law? In a country where law is used as a toy, paying such huge amount of tax honestly is a BIG deal. If the govt sets the legal system right and punishes those who evade taxes, then i would say that SRK is not doing such a big deal by paying such huge taxes.

More than anything else, the contribution he's making to the govt kitty is what matters. It doesn't matter if he's doing it through his income or through some magic. At the end of the day, govt kitty is richer by 27 crores!, which they'll hopefully utilize for some construtive public purpose....

There is nothing wrong with IPL...infact i give credit to ICL for bring about this revolution.

It is evolusion that this happening. And this is only good for the economy and in turn to the country. Yeah it might not provide the hungry farmers directly and immediately and would rather fill the currupt beurocrate first but it has enough init to fill him and over flow into the common man. So first things first we have to feel happy there is something for him.

Normally if someone pays 27 crores taxes in India, many believe he has hidden 1000 crores in other income especially if he has underworld connection. I hope SRK did not do it and he does not have any such connection. It is possible that every deal SRK does is transparent to income tax department. Did he ever run into trouble with the tax collector? It is likely that he learnt his lesson.

Hey you are right to an extent that cricket as we know is dieing but it is also a jucture of a new born.

Every thing that takes a birth has to die.

All you look forwrd is that evolusion bought u something more interesting. If the dianosour died only then man could take birth. Not to say IPL is human with respect to dianosour and all that but my point is that there is evolusion in every thing. Good or bad, time will have a say.

Its rather philo.

But one other thing i have to say is it is about time the cricket players get paid a lot. That is the only way to keep evils such as mathcfixing away naturally.

I think kolkata team has done a big mistake by picking agarkar. I'm sure it was Ganguly's choice as he used to be one of ganguly's favorite bowlers when he was the captain of india

Nishant: Shant ho ja mere bacche.... You stink of jealousy. The world is calling him King of bollywood not just one or two people. Why is the world not calling you that? or why are they not calling anyone else that? It's because he's the man who has the biggest fan following and is the one who delivers maximum revenues in bollywood.... Got it?
