"America's Army" is a first-person tactical shooter video game that realistically simulates aspects of combat faced by the United States' real-life troops. It has all of the quick response, challenge and graphics of a high-end major-release video game. But it has the added punch of being created with all of the resources and research capabilities of the U.S. military behind it.

The result? Players are hooked. Since its introduction, the game has developed a worldwide following, except in those countries against which the United States has embargoes. Countries like Syria and North Korea are banned from importing or downloading the game. But elsewhere around the globe, serious clans -- teams of gamers who play together -- have formed to take part in competitions and tournaments to see who's the best at rooting out evildoers. So far, the Army says 7 million users have registered their downloaded copy.

The realism of the game didn't come by accident. Before it was released in 2002, the developers brought in a Navy experimental psychologist to advise on how to increase the game's psychological effects (like fear) on the physiology of its players (like changing their heart rate) [source: Webb]. Even the game's developers were put through training applications and combat simulations in real life before they created "America's Army." And the game was released in double Dolby digital sound -- all to create a more realistic experience.

Perhaps the best part about the 3-D graph

BCCI destroys cricket
by arun shrivastwa on Feb 20, 2008 11:00 PM  | Hide replies

I hope being an Indian what happened today with cricket is shameful & the branded player must be ignored by avoiding the watching game. They are ready to sell them self & it is sure that how they are greedy for money so they could be played good or bad game in past with help of match fixing.
I would determine myself to not watch match & ignored the IPL match.
Firstly the all business man recover their investment by increasing prices of their product & I hope the cricket showbiz is now in downtrend afterward as player used to lose gaming sprit due to getting huse amount
Let us see tomorrow of Indian team game after this match%u2026.
Cricket would be over..

IF INDIAN PUBLIC HAVE EVEN LIL BIT OF COMMON SENSE THEY WILL BAN IPL MACTHES. THIS IS NOT JUST CRICKET. WE ALL KNOW WHERE D MONEY COLLECTED BY BCCI (1000 CRORES) WILL GO (MOSTLY IN SHARAD PAWARS POCKET). THAT MAN HAS NO SHAME HES RULING BCCI N COLLECTING HUGE AMOUNTS N 1000 OF FARMERS R COMMITING SUICIDE IN D STATE WHERE HIS GOVERMENT IS RULING. SHARAD PAWAR HAS DESTROYED CRICKET. IPL HAS DESTROYED FEELING OF PRIDE TO PLAY 4 COUNTRY. EVERY PLAYER WILL NOW RUN AFTER MONEY.CRICKET IS DIENG

Offrouse you are extremely right. If we see the performance of even Indian team in International Cricket, no one is concentrating towards it.... If Indian Media is also making fun of everything..... If you see in real meaning, the is No Common Sense in BCCI and Medica in India is Totally NONSENSE

Inconsistency
by siddhartha roy on Feb 20, 2008 05:26 PM  | Hide replies

What a shame for cricket lovers
- Dhoni goes for 1.5 million, Symonds for 1.35 ml yet Gilchrist only 0.7 ml (which is same as Brendon Mccullum)
- Gayle get 0.8 whereas Hayden 0.375 and no takers for Hussey.
- Kumble gets 0.5 ml, Bhajji 0.85 ml but no takers for Mcgrath. In T20, you need economic bolwers like Mcgrath. Rather sreesanth goes for 6.25 ml who gladly gives 50 plus runs in 4 overs.

Seeing all these, i feel that buyers have gone for the dashing players. Winning matches is not the main focus. After all, it's all about money

Since this the first time that India has hosted an event of this scale (both money and entertainment), there are bound to be scores of comparison. However, at the end of the day, this will reach a scale of the English Premier League. What will also happen is a lot of our favourite & flamboyant cricketers will become filthy rich.

BCCI has tons of crores - They have no clue how to make Indian team world class. How much the corrupt officials want to earn , they cannot digest and it is unfair.
Let them donate for noble cause and charity like Old age homes , street children rehab , orphanages , blind and physically challenged -- In our country , only 2 crores are comfortable out of 110 crores -- It is their resp to pull up the others. Govt is anyhow not doing it.
Ramesh Vemuganti - Mgt teacher , mentor , Head - Business Link AIL , Hyd.

Howe do you the officials are corrupt?
This is a very transparent process unlike submitting tenders and closed bids for government projects!
Besides Dalmiya's case went to court.
No point slinging mud like this especially when you are a teacher and will be able to impress minds under your tutelage.
If they are corrupt why not take them to court?????

Its become more than obvious that the game of cricket has been made into a lucarative business..Soon, these companies from Ambani,Mallaya,SRK etc will float an IPO to fund their 'aqusition' and start trading in the stock exchanges as well! The so called masses of India will not only waste their hardearned money and time watching these make-belief matches being played, they will also buy stocks of these companies and lose further, sighting recession in the US! What a game! suits this nation very well! (BTW, I have stopped watching cricket long ago! all matches are fixed)

WOW! What a statement!
Which match was fixed?
Why not report the 'fixed' match to ICC?

Also this is the system western countries have adopted and their sports clubs are doing business in the millions!
