positive n negative hype around players.
by ben hur on Feb 19, 2008 10:54 AM

there r some hypes which may b positive or negative which shows the wrong picture abt a player.

positive hype around yuv/dhoni shows they r great players but in reality, it may b reverse.

negative hype around munaf shows he is bad player but actually this down to earth player is very good.

Does India want to win ?
by on Feb 19, 2008 10:05 AM

I am frustrated with the gambling indian selectors are playing to select the best team for a tournament such as the C B series. Selecting youngsters for the future is very important, everyone knows about it. But dropping senior players for doubtful youngsters is not a very good strategy. The selectors did a terrible mistake by dropping Ganguly and Laxman, when both are in excellent forms. We have an excellent pace trio, who are doing an outstanding job by restricting the opponents to 200 run targets but the batsmen don't have the patience to reach the target !!! If we had Ganguly and Laxman in the team we could have easily won the championship. This time the gambling by the selectors will be proved very costly !!! I hope they learn from their mistakes!!!

Ashamed by Indias batting
by gopal on Feb 19, 2008 08:51 AM

I am ashamed by Indias batting. Cant get 200 runs and everyone talking about having 6 players. Indias bowling = class act, but indias batting, vry poor, really pathetic, no words..

Some experience please
by Ramesh Srivats on Feb 19, 2008 07:33 AM

We are paying for our obsession with youth. What we need is atleast one experienced batsman - Gabguky, Dravid, Laxman, whoever - to do some sensible batting.

Young Only Theory Backfires

As if this was the Last Series before the Worl Cup, the National Selectors lead by a Talented/Aggresive but a bit immature leader hailed out to beat two Champion sides with a Local Ranji Team. Grooming Youngsters, pls learn the Art from aussies, who always maintain a good balance of Experience and Youth, there by defeating teams around and being the World Cup and Mini World Cup Champions. Bring Back the Wall

Well said....there was no need to rush in the youngsters...it could have been done in a staggered manner especially considering the fact that the other two sides are the no.1 and no.2 teams in the world.....

Very surprising to see someone of the stature and class of Dilip Vengsarkar taking such a hair brained decision...of dropping Ganguly, Dravid, VVS and Kaif in one go...

But in a way it is good that this impending defeat would open up the eyes of the selectors and the old firm of Ganguly, Dravid and Kaif will be back soon...

Other thing that i would like to say is that we have been quite unlucky in losing Zaheer first and then RP Singh......
I mean, had both been there, they would have been an automatic choice and we would not have had to deal with Sreesanth and Munaf at all...

Hopefully, the nucleus of the side for the Bangladesh Tri-series will have all the senior cricketers who have a couple of years of top flight cricket still left in them!!

Bring in more youngsters

I think India should concentrate on 2020 and beyond and experiment with under-13 players in the national team. Drop all those who have played more than 50 matches, except of course Sachin because he is simply untouchable no matter.

vengskar n gavaskar for their own state players.
by ben hur on Feb 19, 2008 01:14 AM  | Hide replies

vengsarkar/gavaskar is against munaf.
reason being munaf is from gujarat. n gavaskar prefers only the players from maharashtra background.
he has been doing politics throughout his career. even he is not supportive in his comments on players from gujarat like parthiv patel, irfan pathan, rakesh patel, yusuf pathan, jacob martyn, etc.

Do you think in modern cricket we choose somebody for only bowling front and that too not a striking bowler?
The answer is no from all the cricket loving fans. Why pointing Vengsarker or Gavasker for that.
I think when you write, you don't think, am I right?
Instead include suresh raina for yuvraj or utthapa.

Ben Hur,
Am sure ur some nut from Gujrat. Pls avoid lifting below average players like Parthiv Patel and Munaf Patel, these two patels are talented but in Limited fields....Jacob Martin did his Selection no good. There are many who come and go, but only the Lion hearted make it, and Irfan has proved it time and again. Take a Break and Chill Dude. You are work writing a Comment of Jodha Akhbar Movie

Munaf has been getting more than a fair chance, despite being of doubtful fitness, not to speak of his batting and fielding abilities. He has certainly got more chances than say L Balaji. Also, where does Gavaskar come into the picture??
