We enjoy cricket only because our national pride is involved when our team is playing with other country. This is the reason that we are more concerned when we paly with Pak. and now with Oz.

However I doubt that we might not be much interested nor concernerd in Bombay team or Cal. Team wins. As is the case whwn Ranji Trophy, Dulip Trophy is played.
We enjoy when sachin Hits Shoib, Lee..etc. but I would never enjoy them together..
Well this is my openion... please comment

A fair comment, but thats your geenration. The younger geenration might watch sachin and Lee together and picturethem as a team if they were to play for a team in ICL as team mates. And then the same emotion in the younger geenration will flow as a benchmark, just like yours is a country's pride, there's will be Zonal pride!! Look at the League sports in US and Australia. Basketball for instance, why is that succesful, Basebal for the same reason, and RUGBY in Australia. Exactly the same reason, so ICL will also evolve into a favourite issue in an year or two. Nothing is stopping it from that. And given 20/20 popularity, i think its going to be a bigger commercial success that ICC Cricket form of the game.

One has to wait and see, but IPL to me looks banal......

Of course it is too early to say anything about IPL.

However, the way BCCI has gone about putting IPL in place and the whole philosophy behind the very concept of a premier league smacks of shortsightedness and wrong priorities of BCCI.

In the first place, whatever the claim to the contrary, IPL is an amateurish and hurried response to ICL promoted by Zee group.

Secondly, as the apex body meant to manage and promote the game in the country, BCCI's priorities should be to spot and nurture young players from India and give them opportunities. BCCI should also focus on establishing world class training, practice, physical fitness facilities, pitches and stadia. It should find ways to rejuvenate Ranji and other formats of domestic cricket and help emergence of newer Tendulkars, Kapil Devs and Dravids.

What is the fun of bunching together oldies from India and abroad by forking out huge sums of money in the name of bringing stars? It is a brazen attempt to fleece the public and sponsors to raise large sums of money. I am sure no sensible cricket fan in India wants to watch oldies like Warne, McGrath, Stephen Fleming etc. now, although they might have been great players of a bygone era.

But who will tell all this to the haughty mandarins at the helm in BCCI?

IPL to me is a waste of time when ICL is doing it more professionaly and with more money in the bags. I don't know if IPL will get anywhere, surely it can't be better or equally as good as ICL, because the same players will be playing ODIs and Test Matches too at International Level. How will that be managed?
