Another Gimmicry of BCCI politics!!!! almost like Raj Thackrey (Gundaism)
by S Narain on Feb 09, 2008 02:23 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly has scored highest run against Pakis & was player of the series as well as highset aggregate for the year in his career, still he was dropped due to parochial considerations .A Big shame that Indian cricket is as petty & corrupt as Indian politics!!!
However Bongs have to learn new tricks to get a fair deal which needs them to reorient with Indian mindset which is higly complex.

Contd..
Bongs have great heros & patriots in past, some in present .
They also have so much talent in all all walks of life however they have failed to materialise because.
1. Very poor & retrograde Political system of
leftist ideology .
2.Bongs mind is not in tune with Indian mind,
They should learn somethings from business community like Marwaris of Kolkata and not live on past glory but learn to work hard.

I also feel that Bongs are not aware how BCCI works, for example
It has Ranjit Biswal from east Zone who is a sycophant of BCCI.
BCCI is conglomeration of where power is weilded by a cartel of few individuals comprising of greedy politicians, businessman & sycophants..
In this lobby only shrewed businessman & cunning politician can succeed ,not present CAB president is not like Dalmiya who was having all the guile of shrewed & corrupt politician.
Bongs are hardly possessing the hold neither in BCCI nor in UPA politics where they are supporting congress led govt.
Bongs are playing second fiddle to congress and also within left ,non bongs like Karat & Yechury are calling the shots.
Leftist government were bullied by fundamentalists on Taslima issue & had to call the army to control the fundamentalist who were burning Kolkata.
This they get for protecting & supporting minorities and always criticising Modi in favour of minorities rights.Bongs can not protect themselves & take up useless issues which not many Indians care....
Hence Bongs are completely out of

Laxman should have been picked
by suresh PS on Feb 08, 2008 11:44 PM

congrats sachin and ganguly.Laxman should have been in the ODI team in australia.he has a good record especially in australia. i wonder why his name is not mentioned in BCCI player of the month.kumble too done a very good job as captian. I think BCCI should see players contribution to the team irrespective of which state he belongs.after all every one are indians.i hope BCCI won't do the same mistake in near future by not mentioning other players contribution.

Ganguly not dropped for ODIs
by Ashish Kumar on Feb 08, 2008 09:41 PM  | Hide replies

This letter supports my belief that Ganguly has not been dropped for the current tri-series. He has only been rested to test the younger claimants to glory. Ganguly is a proven material and does not require testing. Ganguly's fans should take heart from this.

Given so, the timing and the idea leaves a lot to be desired. Ganguly,Dravid were playing acceptably in Australia. So resting(dropping?)them is does not make sense. Equally absurd is exposing a bunch of youngsters to Austrialia in Australia. Some of these young fellows could have their confidence shattered for good and would never play for the country again. Can name quite few in that bracket. There must be a better way to balance between playing a senior (and slower) player and grooming young blood. One thing the board must realize is that a 20-20 game is not an ODI and should never be equated.

I believe Anil Kumble shud certainly've been the Player of the Series in the Indo-Aussie test rubber..He was simply superb..Showed dat he's a man of steel..wat leadership, wat performance[both wid bat n ball]..its amazingly awful dat his name does'nt feature in the list of BEST PERFORMERS b/w Oct and Jan

India lost the series. I don't think a losing captain can be made man of the series. Things would have been different if India had won the series or had even drawn it.

Sachin Tendulkar was the Man of the Series for the 1999-2000 Series that was played Down Under. Check Cricinfo Match/Series Archives.

What can stop BCCI from honoring a player who picked max wickets for the team in all these tours considered by BCCI?

Why ignore Kumble
by Cricket s on Feb 08, 2008 06:50 PM

Kumble should have been man of the series in Australia with his batting, bowling and leadership. As usual, bowlers are ignored...and awards are given based on popularity.

How else you can justify SRT getting MOM in the Adelaide test over Sehwag?

There shud be a tailender player of the month too.
by Sameer K on Feb 08, 2008 06:41 PM  | Hide replies

There should also be a tail ender of the month too, maybe it will motivate them. Indian tailenders did very well in Australia, Ganguly led the tailenders and scored 2 fifties in 4 matches, averaging 29.38 and scoring 235 runs, Harbhajan played 3 matches and scored 2 fifties, scored 142 runs at an average of 23.66, Anil Kumble scored 179 runs in 4 matches, average 29.83 with a single fifty and Irfan Pathan played 2 matches scored 83 runs at a average of 20.

With tailender of the season awards our tailenders like Ganguly, Harbhajan, Kumble, Pathan might get more motivation to perform better against Australia.

Is there any reason for you to make such comments on Sameer when he made a good observation?
Rediff seems to be a place which is being used by people to write abusive statements without reason.
