Gambhir's Confidence
by Aalok Sharma on Feb 08, 2008 12:57 PM  | Hide replies

No doubt Gambhir is a gud player. But dont know why every player starts giving hi-fi statements like "I m very confident now" and so on just after one good inning. then few bad innings and everyone terms them the most pathetic cricketr. Whatever confidence u have doesnt matter. What matters is only result. We need consistence for which Sachin, Sourav and Dravid are known for..for me a 45,45,45,45,45 scoreline in 5 matches is far far better than 1,0,145,3,2....

u r right. Gambhir was also let off early on in the innings. Unless he is consistent too much should not be of (him) any of these guys. Look at where Yuvraj is today. Yuvraj was such a great hit not too long back. Hopefully these young kids will settle down quickly.

This morning Star News channel was telecasting a program on cricket (8.30 a.m.) as usual. It was shown that India lost ALL THE FOUR ODI MATCHES PLAYED BY THEM IN MELBOURNE BETWEEN 1992 AND 2003. In atleast 2 or 3 of these matches, surely Ganguly and Dravid played besides Tendulkar.

When this is the FINE RECORD (0-4) when the socalled consistent and experienced seniors play, WHAT IS THE HARM IF A YOUNG SIDE LOSES?

Let us consider a win tomorrow as magic, gift, fluke, result of hardwork or whatever else. But if the team loses, let us not lecture that seniors should be back!

Let him do this consistently

Gambhir lacks consistency. He's susceptible to LBW decisions. Let him be a permanent member of the side... they you hype him.

Agreed. One or two good innings and the hype starts. Gambhir, please perform consistently against top teams, not just SL.This guy should learn from Tendulkar who lets his bat do the talking and not get carried away.

Suresh Dalvi at Melbourne, Aa
I agree. One good innings leave aside the hype all around - the player has already got the "foot in the mouth disease" - I`ll do this, I`ll do that blah blah blah.
Just shut up and show some consistency. Of all you know he may not cross into double digit (if he plays) in the next match and will tuck his tail between his legs and go quietly, only to start all over again.

yes. cricfan01. hype starts with 1 or 2 inngs only coz that is the only 1 or 2 inngs they r going to shine n in all the other inngs, they r flops. so they r utilising to the max, whatever they do well.

Gambhir

If u have seen him in domestic games, he is a more powerful and natural hitter than Sehwag. He packs a lot of punch in his strokes, and is a treat against spinners. He can pull and cut and hook, better than Sehwag.
What makes him better than Sehwag is his footwork. In-form Sehwag, Gambhir, Yuvraj and Uthappa in top four, can cross 400 easily in one dayers.

Uthappa is the most hyped indian player after Kaif ira. How many times has he crossed 50, or for that matter 25?

Why is Uthappa in the team? Is he just a pinch hitter? He only plays well if he opens and that too once in a blue moon. He is good for 20-20.
