Why Bengal players like Randeb are not selected !!! Bongs are not in tune with present day India
by S Narain on Feb 08, 2008 12:57 PM

Bongs have great heros & patriots in past, some in present .
They also have so much talent in all all walks of life however they have failed to materialise because.
1. Very poor & retrograde Political system of
leftist ideology .
2.Bongs mind is not in tune with Indian mind,
They should learn somethings from business community like Marwaris of Kolkata and not live on past glory but learn to work hard.

I also feel that Bongs are not aware how BCCI works, for example
It has Ranjit Biswal from east Zone who is a sycophant of BCCI.
BCCI is conglomeration of where power is weilded by a cartel of few individuals comprising of greedy politicians, businessman & sycophants..
In this lobby only shrewed businessman & cunning politician can succeed ,not present CAB president is not like Dalmiya who was having all the guile of shrewed & corrupt politician.
Bongs are hardly possessing the hold neither in BCCI nor in UPA politics where they are supporting congress led govt.

East zone has alsways remained in the backyard of Indian cricket for its distance from the limelight it deserves depsite talents, broken very few times in the case of some lucky ones, even at this stage when Indian team is experimenting with more glamourous stars of the crickteers from other zones, some players from the Est zone surely are waitiing in thw wingsfor long including Shiv das, Mohanty, Randev and the this young Haldhar among whom Randev and Haldhar have age in their side before that also eludes them

Give him opportunities in A Teams
by sajin mv on Feb 07, 2008 09:09 AM

It is so premature to think about his inclusion in Indian team, though he is talented behind the stumps or ahead. His real test is yet to come, the match against England Lions. While Parthiv is scoring heavily on domestic circuits and a certain improvement behind stumps, the inclusion of Parthiv in indian team ahead Das and in place of Karthik. I believe, Dinesh Karthick, should play domestic matches and improve his capacity as a keeper and a batsman.

If Karthi is why not Patel? They both are gutsy chracters with Bat. Patel had decent record with Bat, but his keeping was in question. Keep in mind he was only aroung 18 yrs. old when came in the test team.

There is strong lobby in BCCI for sure but after 2000 ,when Sourav had become Captain ..players like Shiv Sunder Das,
D Mohanty ,Dhoni all from small towns made it to Indian team as he was able to break the hegemony of Mumbai lobby..as he always believed in all India team based on merit & not any lobby
For,this reason Sourav is out of favour from Mumbai lobby & was stabbed in the back by BCCI with help of Greg Chapple& More Duo..
This time BCCI has used Dhoni to stab Sourav who was supporter of Dhoni for inclusion in the team in the first place..
So U can not rule out small town boys after 2000,before that it was not possible

Can you name some players who could have played for India before 2000 and not for one off performances. This is not a question off saurav did it or mumbai lobby did it,can you name some players who are in the Indian team because of the lobby and not for their performance.
As you say there is politics in all the field of works and cricket is no different and you may have such instances also.
I am a great fan of Saurav, but he was stabbed only by greg and not the mumbai lobby, the problem in Indian cricket is the Board dont respect the players for whom they are meant for, as almost 99.99 % of them are politicians running the show and want to prove their one upmanship on others.

Excuse me mumbai lobby? Do you realise that the only player from mumbai to constantly play for india since 1990 has been sachin? Do you even know the kind of performances mumbai players had to put up to finally get selected? If you love dada fine but dont forget how kambli was pushed out of the team to accomodate ganguly on two occassions.

Mr. Narain, you must be commended for inventing these weird theories about Mumbai Vs non-Mumbai.You are doing great.Since how long have you been following cricket? Dont talk crap here without any basis. In earlier days there were more players from Mumbai than other states but in the last 30 years there have been many occasions where there were more players from other states than Mumbai. During late 70s and early 80s and also in 90s there were 7 players from Karnataka, in 80s and 90s there were 5 players from Delhi, in 1979 there were 4 players from TN. Players from smaller towns started playing much before 2000. If players are coming up from smaller towns it is not due to one person but because cricket has spread there due to exposure and the infrastructure is improving.

No body is saying that therewere not great players from Mumbai, but in 50,s & 60's there were 9 out of 11 were from Mumbai, half of them were derving ,many of them not desrving,
Of course later in 70,s Karnataka & Delhi also got selcted.
Still there was a cartel in BCCI ,where guys from small towns were not selcted..Koi Shak
Only after 2000,there was areal change to the disliking of cartel & sycophants in BCCI

There is no need of comparison between Kaif and Badrinath as these two players are going to replace the 3rd and 5th slot of the indian test team in coming months, if BCCI realise that the time of Golden 5 is running short.Kumble,Sachin, may play some more time, however, Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman, we should think about Rotation policy not expelling these great guys from the team. While opportunities given to juniors, they can show his performances and back up the bench with much more strength. The coming South African series should be the first step to start rotation policy, for that, Badrinath, Kaif, Parthiv Patel should be included in the Test team. Sehwag is the right guy to become the Vice Captain of the team ahead of Dhoni who is struggling to retain his place, but, I really appreciate his work behind the stumps in recently conlcuded Test Series.

Kaif, can score all the runs in Ranji but he is not good enough for tests. There are lots of other players who seem better than Kaif. Why is Badrinath ignored? He seems to have good technique and also performed well over the years in Ranji.

I have to disgree with you. the matter of fact is that kaif's batting is better suited to tests than ODI's. He has had problems because the line in the past was so strong that the only place he could play was no.7. I believe kaif can be an ideal no.4 or 5 in ODI where he is required to graft for a few overs and then accelerate at the end.

RE:Kaif scored
by Ridhdhish Amin on Feb 07, 2008 05:32 AM
Well Kaif is better than Yuvraj.
First of all statistics:
Kaif:
Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 Ct St
13 22 3 624 148* 32.84 1548 40.31 1 3 14 0
Yuvi:
Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 Ct St
22 35 4 1018 169 32.83 1831 55.59 3 3 24 0
Kaif batted extremely well when Australia was in India last time - when the likes of Sachin, Saurav, VVS (even!!) struggled and India lost the series (2-1). This is when Yuvi failed repeatedly and got kicked out of the team and Kaif got a chance and he played excellent cricket with a couple of solid 50s. But he got pushed out to make way for the big players. He failed when he got his chances again - but if you look at the matches he batted poorly in everyone else including the big stars failed - but he was the one who got kicked out the very next match. His morale was broken down by being given one chance and sitting on the bench for a few more.
Technique wise he is far more superior than Yuvi - but Yuvi is the more popular guy - more sponsorship value! We all know his pathetic display in Australia - he couldnt even play Hogg - who was belted away by our tail-enders. Clueless I tell you.
Anyway - I do agree that Kaif's international career is more or less over - unless Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman retire all of a sudden (unlikely). Its sad that he got a raw deal because he came from a state assoc. which has no clout, does not have a outgoing personality and sponsorship value.

Mr.Amin, Yes he scored a couple of fifties but if anyone watched the game they will tell you how he struggled even then. Kaif may score runs occasionally but he is not the batsmen who can score big hundreds (dont count that 148, because most of the runs after the first 90 came off part time bowlers). In tests we need batsmen who can bat in any situations and also should have the capability to score big hundreds. When Jaffer (who has couple of double hundreds) and better technique than Kaif could not succeed in Australia, how could Kaif? Even Yuvraj is not suitable for tests as he struggles against spin (he just cant play spin, period) and is not too comfortable against genuine genuine pace either. I wonder why they sidelined Venugopal Rao totally? He has pretty good technique and has scored a double hundred against the visiting side. He is more suitable for tests but the selectors in 2005 in all their wisdom kept selecting him for ODI instead. He was bound to fail in ODI because his batting was not suitable for ODI and now is totally out of the picture.

My Dear friend nowadays Brahmins are second class citizens of this stupid system of reservation based on castes.Morever on your point of to go to other countries for playing,no money can earn you nor even great influence to earn a place in Indian team, examples being Rohan Gavaskar,Stuart Binny, you may get a chance to play but because of person having only influence and money and no skills, they will not be able to sustain in the team for long.
So if the players playing as in the mentioned team are not even capable of finding a place in the ranji teams forget Indian team.

Guys will you stop this casteism crap. I remember when laxman was dropped from the team becoz he wasnt able to play as an opener laxman came back to team on the sheer weight of runs. In one season he hammered two double centuries and one triple hundred. His weight of runs was s large that he could not be ignored. If this guy wants to play in the big league then he has to convert these 80 , 100 knocks into consistent 150 knocks and that too at a good strike rate. Then no one will be able to stop him from making his entry

by CricFan01 on Feb 06, 2008 09:20 PM  | Hide replies

This is the real problem, one or two good games and suddenly there is a lot of attention on the young kid. It happened many times in the past when a youngster was put on the pedestal before he was ready,(Parthiv Patel, MSK Prasad) only for him to fall down unable to withstand the pressure. So dont put unnnecessary pressure on this youngster by focussing on him, going after him for interviews etc. Let him perform consistently for a year or two and allow him to come through the process so that he is seasoned enough to represent the country when he is ready.

It is such great difference between India and Porkiland

In India, Tribal boys like MS Dhoni and Das aspire to become national sensations and in porkiland tribals aspire to become terrorists!

Porki Tribals should learn from our Tribal boys.

Our tribals boys start out by wearing chaddi made from leaves and end up wearing designer clothing!

What a difference!!
