I respect all the 5 names you mentioned. But I think you need to include Muraleedharan as well to retire as he is still sticking to the team even after getting more than 700 wickets.
Tendulkar has been performing and is younger than his colleagues like Rahul and Ganguly. Whats the fun of crying on his continuing?
Please make a note of when Gavaskar and Kapil retired while praising.

Heis a "zero"......He can't win World-cup and win matches for india like Kapil Dev,Gavaskar or Lara..
It is a proven fact that he fails when performance at crucial junctures is expected.

Thanks for letting us know that Lara won a world cup. Probably he might have played for SL in one of the world cups.
The statistics say that Lara scored max when WI lost the matches. So atleast dont use his name in your logic.
And in absolute terms whatever statistics say, Lara, Sachin, Kapil and Gavaskar are great players full stop.

Sachin is true Hero of Cricket and it was joy to watch every run he scored. I want to recollect the moments in college days when TVs were turned off when he got out. That kind of passion he brought into the game.
Best cricketer should be the one who influenced the Game and Sachin stands tall at number one position for the Charm he brought to cricket.
At the same time it was a brave decision to choose young cricketers for this tough series. They should be given a fair chance and should not be thrown out after one or two chances.
The worst thing in Indian cricket culture / media / fans (few) is to see change in team every day. This will just stop the grooming of good players to great.
