BCCI warns CA of IPL without Aussies: report

Melbourne, February 6: BCCI Vice-President Lalit Modi minced no words in warning Cricket Australia that its players were at risk of losing lucrative Indian Premier League deals if it continued with the contentious demand of promotion of its sponsors during the League.

%u201CIf they want to keep playing these games, they can keep their players and we will have the IPL without them,%u201D Modi was quoted as saying by the %u2018sydney Morning Herald%u2019.

%u201CI am being very clear about this. Cricket Australia wants global protection of its sponsors, we are not interested in that. That does not happen anywhere in cricket. The fact is, if Cricket Australia continues these demands they will cause their players to suffer,%u201D he said.

As sponsors pay millions of dollars to CA each year, they expect to receive coverage whenever an Australian player takes part in any international series but in the IPL cricketers will represent clubs and are expected to wear sanctioned gear.

Modi, however, said the players%u2019 personal sponsorships would not be affected in any way.

%u201CWe have no issue at all with personal sponsors of players, and there should be no confusion. The players can play and keep their sponsors, and get more personal sponsors throughout the tournament,%u201D he said.

no. Dinesh karthik should be given more opportunities.. He is a perfect team man..Dhoni wants to escape competition from dinesh karthik and hence not playing him..

In order to keep Dhoni on toes, Karthik should be made permamnent 12th man. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Dhoni is captain and is likely to remain captain. He has been winning without break. Karthik should think of migrating to Canada where he may get a chance. He is going to go the Bodhi Kundaran way who was good but was unfortunate to be contemporary of Farokh Engineer.

Aussies are losing friends
by Munna Bhai on Feb 06, 2008 01:38 PM  | Hide replies

Aussies are losing their popularity in the cricketing world because here's what they think of all other teams:

Pakistan: cheaters
Sri Lanka : chuckers
India: Racist
West Indies: Abusers of McGrath's wife.
England: who cares. They're pommies
South africa: Lets get into their skins. they don't reply anyway.

If this is your logic then the only form of cricket you are goning to enjoy is pura cup "mates".

DO NOT MISTKATE THE FIGHTBACK AT BRISBAINE WAS BY YOUNGSTERS
by vaibhav kumar on Feb 06, 2008 12:26 PM

Define first who is youngster in the team, surely not Dhoni and Gambhir.

The youngsters of the team are Manoj Tiwary, Utthappa, Rohit Sharma, orbably Dinesh karthik (has not played many ODI as batsman), Piyush Chawala and Ishant Sharma.

Others are all seasoned capmaigners and played almost 50 ODI already. They should not be labelled being the youngsters. Foe me, youngster is one who has not being exposed to international cricket or who has played less than 25 ODI, to say the least.

SOMETIMES I WONDER, DO YOU REALLY NEED A TRAINING SCHOOL OFR YOUNGSTERS IN AUSTRALIA IN A TRI SERIES. Its like asking a young doctorate student to take a priority project to be delivered in 10 days in an MNC. 95 out of 100 will fail to delvier on most accounts. The same guy will deliver wonderfully well probbably after a period of 6-9 months as he has learned how to delvier in the professional environment by handling projects of lesser importance and now ready to take up the challenges.

The best thing would have been to allow these youngsters against lesser strong teams for 25-30 ODIs and then ask them to take up the challenge. Despite having the capabilities, they will take time to cope up and in the process, INDIAN cricket will face more humuliations.

Both ODIs could have gone either way. That means we could have lost them both. So, if someone is under hallucination, that team has done well, they are befooling themselves.

They are surely ahve the capabilities to do well, but

Yuvaraj fit or unfit?? Mentally or Physically?
by Lucky Man on Feb 06, 2008 12:00 PM  | Hide replies

Since Yuvaraj has landed in Australia nothing is going right for this man. He has lost his confidenece in his batting. Before Yuvi left for Australia he scored brilliant century against Pakistan on flat Bangalore wicket. After that game he made few statements which must be etching him. He said that the conditions in Australia suits his style of batting and now is the time of Yuvaraj. These statements was of over confidenence. You should not make such over confident statement because you never know what lies in future ahead. No matter in how good form you be. Look at Tendulkar, he never made such silly statements in his 18 years carrer. He has done only one thing..let his bat speak..let his peformance speak for itself...With Yuvaraj's form in Australia it really shows that the conditions are suiting him more than anyone else..as he just could not survive on the field..
Dhobi sorry Shoni & Yuvi are good friends..everyone knows that..but in yesterday's match against Sri Lanka Dhoni insisted to play Yuvi despite of the fact that he is not 100% fit....Dhobi has became more arrogant these days and not listeneing to anyone in the team..team management..

We have heard of whitewash and brownwash of series earlier. It could well be a case of "rainwash" with this CB triseries!
