BCCI pls dont expect MIRACLES from others.....do yourself
by Sharad Saxena on Feb 06, 2008 11:06 AM  | Hide replies

I hope BCCI will prepare TERRIBLY FAST pitches in the country after this tour instead of expecting a MIRACLE from the players that their style of play will AUTOMATICALLY change in abroad tour......though he plays 320 days in a year on DEAD indian pitches?????

i think its a shame for BCCI that their official for not doing anything good for cricket except RED TAPISM...

IF YOU ARE A TRUE INDIAN AND A LOVER OF YOUR TIRANGA AND ITS HONOUR, ACCEPT A FAT THAT TEAMS CAN WIN IF SELECTORS ARE WINNERS. VENGSERKAR, KIRAN MORE ETC ARE NOT MATCH WINNERS.

SELECTORS SHUD BE FROM MATCH WINNERS LIKE GR VISHWANATH, SYE KIRMANI, KAPIL DEV, MADAN LAL, JAVAGAL SRINATH,BS BEDI, VENKATRAGHAVAN, EAS PRASSANNA, OR BS CHANDRASHEKAR. UNFORTUNATELY INDIA HAVE NEVER PRODUCED A MATCH WINNING BATSMAN.

What you are ssaying amounts to the same as Good players make goo coaches. We all know that some of the worst coaches were former greats. Similarly there is no requirement for a matchwinning player to be a good judge of talent. I need to point this out to you, but the selector who first spotted the talent of bishen singh bedi was not a cricketer he was a cricket journalist.

Grooming of Youngsterrs for a Future
by sajin mv on Feb 06, 2008 10:21 AM

It is high time to start grooming youngsters for the future, however, their skills, capacity to adapt and survive tough conditions is much more important irrelevant of subcontinent or bouncy pitches. The batsmen or the bowler should be able to adapt and atleast show his basic potentials to claim as an professional player. As Uthappa has to reveal his potential in Australian pitches or leave his way to others like Raina or Tiwary. As boasted by his supporters,it is true,he is a cool-headed and hitter, however, his scoring not progressed more than 20-30 runs even if he got ample time to score big runs. His gap can easily filled by an all rounder like Pathan and include another bowler. As regards Tiwary, time will prove his mettle. sharma has shown his potential but to score runs.Raina, should get chance, however,I believe,Karthick has to back to domestic matches and improve his skill like Parthiv & Kaif is doing presently

Selectors are doing wrong
by ajay bhathire on Feb 05, 2008 01:26 PM  | Hide replies

They are doing the wrong thing. Of course the seniors should go and chance should be given to new players.
But new players should have some experience in domestic level like 2 or 3 seasons.
The selectors should look for such players rather than young players have little or no domestic players.
The players who have more domestic experience will be more better performers. They should make it compulsory that very young players
shouldnt be introduced to international cricket till they have considerable amount of experience in domestic level.

Seems to work for the Aussies - see M Hussey, S Clark, A Gilchrist, A Symonds, P Jacques. Mind you these players were probably brought in too late in their careers. The rule shouldn't apply to super talents like Tendulkar and Ponting.

Excellent innings from Gambhir and Dhoni.

Mr ACCENT,

The matured and serious mates have not responded to your post ....WHY? I tell u the reason

Can u experience the taste of a very delicious dish which u actually tasted three days back....

Today Dhoni played a really good REMARKABLE inning and why people will criticise????

No cricket fan is having any personal problem with Dhoni or any other cricketers, many of us have not even seen them !!!

But WHATS WRONG WHEN A POOR PERFORMANCE IS CRITICISED AND GOOD PERFORMANCE IS APPRECIATED ....BY THE SAME PERSON......WHATS WRONG IN THIS??????

Reply if u can....but I have little hope

History Repeats
by Jim on Feb 05, 2008 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

when chappel n dravid took over...they started all the same and "correct" mantras. "Fire or retire". "Blood a young team", "Vision WC 2007", etc etc.

All these complicates things breeds fear reduces team spirit reduces the most imporant thing and most simple thing u need - intensity on field. The more you talk/think/imagine the less u do.

Dhoni is all set to go Chappels way - and destroy Indian cricket for all it is worth. As for Dravid- he would be seeing exact repeat of what happened fwe yrs back when he took over with chappel as cptn...Dravid is a g8 guy but serves him right this time.

Selectors, Be prepared.....
by Tim on Feb 05, 2008 10:51 AM  | Hide replies

Selectors, please be prepared with a list of 16 new members. Because at the end of this series the entire squad is going to retire and you may need to pick a new squad.

They are all going to lose so badly that they are going to refuse that they never said that. The point is not the mantra, but the class. If they really played for the country and have pride in winning, they would without any mantra. When you play for money then what else you expect.

Look at Yuvraj, hit 6 sixes, made a crore and then now enjoying life with some actress. Every one in the team is just selfish. THey will play one good match when their place is in question and then continue the same thing.

Fire them all or let them all retire should be the mantra for the selectors.

But why would they do that, for some years back they were in the same boat, playing for money and never cared for the country.

It is a curse. We will never compete in any sport let alone Cricket. Anand is the only one who deserves any applause.

It is all because of the Politicians. If you have a dictator then they will all just close their bottom and play.

BCCI is full of politicians like Raj Thakre!!!!

So ,Indian are also full of politics!!!!

See ,They did not spare Big B who was a superactor of the millinieum,

This is also what they did to Sourav by backstabbing him twice, once he has come back ,I am not sure how many times he can save himself from these vultures who are let loose on the basis of regional lobbies....

Dhoni not for captain
by Vaish vinjam on Feb 05, 2008 07:08 AM  | Hide replies

Let Dhoni be in the team as wicketkeeper,so if Karthik or Parthiv performs better than Dhoni we can replace him .If u keep him as captain his presence is a must inspite of his failures. A wicketkeeper must score also.Sehwag can be selected as the captain, but each and every player must be humble and well mannered.

perfectly correct...All dhoni's centuries have been in sub-continent soil where the ball seldom moves..comes at fairly good height ..if you time it its a six at long on otherwise its a six at mid on. in the end its a six.But here the is pace there is movement and ppl like dhoni who dosent have foot work will struggle..they will manage to get some score as long as lady luck smiles but not long. As siddhu say "Form is temporary Class is permenant" . Wasim Akram once said that Pakistanis players have so much fight in them because there is no alternate source of income. What ever they get is from the match no endrosments etc. So they will perform to keep them in for nxt game. We sud do the same. No personal ads. Paid as per your performance. Give each player 6-8 games ask them to perform in 60% games. Not much to ask. if they do on for the nxt series other wise bye bye. One find of this series is ishant sharma. Last time it was irfan ..but dont bombard them with idea telling do this do that ..or we will see another irfan who got lost in crowd last year. Seems like he is making a good come back but for god sake dont ask him to open or go one down . yes he is an all rounder but not an opener. Stick to the basics and be a bit flexible. Any thing excess is poison.

I would call me Dhobi and not Dhoni. I wonder how in the world he is eligible to captain India. He is neither accomplished batsman with footwork and cricketing techniqes nor good behind the stumps. He is riding purely on luck. The way he got out in the first ODI. What was he trying to do? Even a 11th down batsman plays with better technique. Yes, he got power and probably hit the ball and clear the ground on flat pitches. However, when it comes to quality bowling, he struggles. I am sure parthiv and Karthik are better cricketing team players.

@Dasaprakash. In one of your message you said Ganguly made it to the Indian team becoz dalmiya pulled some strings. Can you please tell me How many strings were pulled by Dalmiya to enable Ganguly to score 10000 plus runs in ODI or to play 100 tests. I am no fan of Ganguly but I suggest you to look at the positive side of it. The way he was thrown out and the way he came back and proved himself is a great case for management study, for determination, hard work and dedication. Your critisism will be well taken provided you can appriciate too.

BUT THE FACT REMAINS GANGULY CANNOT PLAY QUALITY BOWLING. HIS ENTIRE CAREER RUNS ARE AGAINST ENGLAND, NEW ZEALAND,DEPLETED TEAMS OF WEST INDIES AND PAKISTAN, ZIMBABWE AND BANGLADESH.

HIS CAREER AVERAGE IS JUST 24.15 AGAINST AUSTRALIA ND SOUTH AFRICA.

SO DON'T COUNT 10000 RUNS IN 400 MATCHES AS AN ACHIEVEMENT.
