vengsarkar did not take gambhir longback and we missed a good batsman who if groomed earlier would be as feared as any body else in the batting line up . both the Aussies and english must have seen hom as the weak link in th eIndian batting which did not take place. vengasarkar for all his big talk is a biased selector and is biased to mumbai
gautam gambhir suffered a lot bcoz of mumbaikar policy of vengsarkar the useless jaffer used to get selected vengi also tried to finish of career of sehwag even dravid left his captaincy bcoz of vengi's dirty politics now both sehwag and gautam r shining as vengsarkar the politician is not there

Superb point! Jaffar was a waste. You are so correct when you say that Gambhir should have been groomed lot earlier. I even remember an innings of Gambhir some 4-5 years back when he was playing in some India-A-B-C internal matches, where he was fearlessly hitting shots in the early overs. That time itself I decided that he will make big in international cricket. But the loafers in selection-committee did not recognize his talent soon.
Gambhir will be surly in top 3 and surly be no 1 soon. He has just played half the year this year, as he was considered only ODI batsman and selected ahead of Jaffar.

He, being a non-mumbaikar has, suffered a lot from the Mr. Colonel, the previous chief selector. The useless Jaffer was used as opener time and again. A percious 2 years of Gambir is wasted by this parochial selector. He even kicked out Sehwag. Now both are shining as India's best opening pair.
