Always problem with Indians is whenever they are near to hundreds,They will waste the time..Dhoni is worst captain, took that kind of decision. For example in, Dravid declared when sachin on 194 ..But dhoni backing Yuvraj..Because he wants youvraj to complete his century not gambhir..

This has always been India's problem, Century's mean more than winning a test match, so India will always be an average test side.

Backward thinking ???
by Ravi B on Dec 26, 2008 01:53 AM  | Hide replies

Talk about Indian cricket thinking resembling the 1960s... then what about English cricket ?

Since ODIs cam into existence, what has English cricket done to adapt to it ? They still play the same slow way in ODIs as if they were playing test matches...

This is what happened to Inidn Hockey. They were first to playing it, and campioned it for long. But other teams have improved or improvised so much to be far ahead. England being a rule setter for cricket is no more a cricket leader, now they are striving hard to atleast keep admisntrating it in partnership with aussies.

British morons
by India on Dec 25, 2008 05:58 PM

What were they thinking? That Dhoni would declare at 285 and England could get a chance to score and level the series? It was a good batting wicket as not many overs had been bowled because of fog. Like Dhoni was going to giftwrap these English twits a win so that they could brag? Such idiots really.

Why Declare
by Gandhi on Dec 25, 2008 10:23 AM  | Hide replies

You cannot expect opposition to declare to give you a chance to win. Declaration is only done to give yourself a chance to win. England should be happy with the result of last test. That is the best result they had on this tour.

I do agree with you on that. No Englishman should talk of good & positive Creicket. When they have not shown this type of courtesy anywhere anytime why should they blame India. Now undoubtedly the Indians are World Champions in all forms of Cricket-Test, One day & T20.The supremacy was not achieved overnight. It is the only team that has beaten Australia in Australia and in India. Now after the defeat against the South Africans the Aussies are n o more a mere Cricket Team.Future will reveal the same. English papers are rubbish and theri comments regarding the Mohali Test can be ignored.

Rubbish
by vansh kapil on Dec 25, 2008 10:21 AM

I think the match was a draw right on day 1 morning. India played slowly in the first innings because of on off play and difficult batting conditions. Then England batted resonably well with KP scoring a century. That ate alot of time in a bad light hit match. with England briefly scaring India in the 2nd innings, it was logical on the part of indian batting to play cautiously. I completly agree with Dhoni that there was enough uncertainity about the number of overs on final day and its worthless to throw away a test just for the sake of so-called- saving-test cricket- notion.Even the pitch was not behaving like a fifth day pitch and batting was not as difficult as it can be on fifth day wickets in India.

Clear cut thinking
by Rohit on Dec 25, 2008 09:06 AM  | Hide replies

Dhoni's non-declaration was just clear cut thinking as 85 overs equal to whole days play had already lost. England was beatable in four days as well but in a four day match. To make any strategy when you are not sure when will play be started and when it will end can boomerang badly. Also it would have taken a miracle to bowl out England in such less time and miracles can happen either ways, right? Remember Pietersen's fluent 144 in the first innings - the best knock of the match in terms of scoring rate on a slow pitch.
The match should not have taken place at Mohali in the first place as this is an international match and not a Plate division match. ICC please answer if a four day match a valid test match? Everyone knew that only 360/540 overs were possible even before the match started.
So slam BCCI and not Indian team in the first place.

There are only 450 max overs and not 540.

His metamorphosis is complete, from an attacking player to a timid, defensive captain who is only worried about retaining captaincy
