There are many young players who are performing better but why the seniors are angry if there is thinking of dropping Dravid or giving him rest. They are the players of that ERA when Gavaskar, Jimmy, Vishwanath etc. were playing and also waiting in players were not so good at that time. Now the position has been totally changed. Ganguly and Kumble resigned from test cricket. People still think that they are still good and better than Dravid in their own field. It was very good remarks from Kumble that he felt he will not be able to give his 100% to the team and he resigned. Today lot of good players who have performed well in past are waiting their entry to the team. It is better for dravid to resign and give the chance to youngsters to come up.
Nobody whetehr Sachin or Dhoni, was supporting Saurav or BCCI. They all were common party to compel Saurav for declaring retirement. Otherwise his form was at par with Sachin's current form after comeback and far better then Rahul. Till he retired, after his comeback, was main pillar of india's victory. Kindly go through all test wins for last two years. He was humiliated.

I am not sure whether any of your allegations on Sachin or Dhoni are remotely true. As a matter of fact Dhoni has shown a lot of respect to senior cricketers (including Ganguly) and he continues to do so to . Secondly, let us assume that your allegations were probably true- Then you must ask yourself why no one supports Ganguly while everyone is supporting Dravid despite his poor form- It is easy to come up with answers like 'politics', etc. But one must admit that Saurav has had attitude problems in the latter half of his career. I am not saying that Saurav deserved what he got but I can only say we may never really know all the facts. Cricket is a team game and if one does not get the backing of his team members then, something was probably not right with oneself. All of what I had said may be totally irrelevant as we never know what the 'inside story' is. I can only say that I have great respect for Ganguly's contribution to Indian cricket and I love the way Ganguly and Kumble retired from Indian cricket (with a win and with grace).
Before we analyze Rahul's form to death or abuse each other to the same, let us understand this. Do we in India have a result driven system be it sports or in nation building? I do not want to embark on a philosophical debate but the answer is no.We are more people centric than system centric. This is why albeit abundant talent and skills India is still not a force it can be. We love to hero worship people as we wow at movie stars not movies, at cricketers not cricket,at politicaians not politics or policies.Maybe very few private organizations and government one have figured this out and have become successful. But Team India is part of the current system:It does not need to have people performing at their peaks in order to have their machinery running. We the people have ensured that cricket is a monopoly.Don't blame Rahul, he is an individual making the max out of such a system as anyone should,I know I would.Though what message does BCCI send to promising players like Badrinath, Pujara, Vijay,I do not know.Wait till the guy retires on his own if you still have the patience and skill till then!.Question is will IPL tolerate a player's form to that extent? I understand that TEST India is performing now, so don't harangue me on this as it is peripheral to my point.Who is to blame for all this? answer is quite simple:ourselves.India reflects what each individual reflects. We the people need to change dramatically in our thinking and attitude if we intend the system to follow.

I like your opinions and I agree with your line of thinking, except that I dont know what 'we' really means as the decision to keep someone in the team or replace them with an appropriate player (be it a aspiring youngster or be it an older player who is performing well currently) lies with the selectors. The selectors' job is a thankless job and will never be fully appreciated by public anyway, but the BCCI selectors must be impartial and be ready to take tough stands. Since 'merit' is a lost term in India, 'we' must accept this politics in cricket selection whether we like it or not (as writing such interesting thoughts never changed the system). Anyway, cynicism aside, I am happy with the way the current indian cricket team is producing quality results.
Whenever Tendulkar got into a bad patch, he used to consult ex batsmen like Gavaskar to find out what was wrong and then sort out his problems.
Has Dravid approached an ex player to help him. Perhaps some councelling will do him a good. It is hard to accept that our one time technically soundest batsman has slumped to such an extent!

Bharat, I have known Azhar. It is not fair for you to comment this way. He was a scape-goat. It is not fair to malign the guys incase you rely only on media reports.

If you know Azhar, I know the persons who paid him to fix matches. He is not a scape goat, he is a bloody swine!
U people who are writing so much about the form of Dravid, should realize that even at your homes, you are not recognised as cricketers. So stop Commenting on Gems like the Fab Four we had. these people are history makers and will be remebered for long and will be idol for many millions of Indian cricketers to come. We hava BCCI and panel of good Selectors to select the best team and let them do it for God's sake. Dont comment on something , for which you are never capable of.

Yes keep playing him, till we get to situations of loosing matches. Still India can afford to loose 3-4 matches for the fondness of this great player. I am telling retire him, I am saying just rest him and bring him back afetr 3-4 months with better confidence and touch
