Aussies has lost their pride...............
by Anurag Rathore on Dec 18, 2008 10:04 AM  | Hide replies

1.There was a time when bowled out them under 400 was almost impossible.
2.There was a time when making more than 400 against them was almost impossible.
3.There was a time when they finished their match within 4 days.
4.There was a time when even draw against them was almost impossible.
5.Age is catching fastlt Ponting and Hayden.
6.No back up of players like Gilly, Warne and Macgrath yet.

Soon SA or India will replace them from number 1 position.

Champion Aussies
by Mojo Jojo on Dec 18, 2008 05:58 AM

I completely agree with the few of the blogs below. Aussies are going to remain as the no.1 Test side. May be India can edge them in ODI rankings. No side can ever dominate an opposition as they can. 15/3 and look at the end result!!. Any other team would have succumbed to the pressure of Ntini and Steyn. But i think SA lack a decent third seamer to support Ntini and Steyn. This SA attack looks blunt with only Ntini and Steyn having to attack. Aussies are hot favourites to win in perth given thier quality of seam bowling. Lee can bowl fast and accurate, Johnson is capable of troubling any quality batsman, and Siddle demonstrated in India that he too is dangerous customer. All the Best Aussie.

AUSSIES can beat all other teams both home and away very easily ...they will struggle only aginst india...i dont think so india can win away test matches at the rate of champions(aussies)..it is difficult to bet them..india can b surely b no 2 in world rankings..india can b no 1 in odi but test there is no way to dislodge aussies.. they have done 4 more than 8 yrs now

Australia is going through a transition phase. But they have very promising and consitent line up coming like Clarke, Katich and bowlers like Siddle, Bracken, Johnson. Symonds is ever dependent. They have a very good cushion in batting line up, thats why they went on 341-9 after top order collapse. Thats the quality of a champion team.Such aggressive batting despite a collapse keeps them on winning track.

Its time for Hayden to go. He has been failing miserably for the last one year. I do not think Australians would further tolerate his non-performance over a long time.

Ponting will still go a long way. He is winner as a captain, keeping his team on top of the cricketing nations for many years with 2 World Cups. They are far ahead of India in points tally.

They produce sporting pitches for visiting teams (Sydney, Aidelaide and MCG favor Asian teams, Brisbane and Perth are fast pitches). Contrary to this India produces doctored pitches(Kanpur, Chennai, Mohali, Delhi, Bangalore) to beat the visiting teams at home.

nonsense!!! india producing doctored pitches. dude , what abt the perth pitch in australia - is that not doctored to suit australian bowling and if u say pitcha at mohali is a doctored one , u need to see a doctor

It suits to fast bowlers. Thats why Isahant Sharma, Zaheer Khan were so successfull in Perth.

classic case of double standards here. wait a minute. only sydney has consistently supported spinners over the years, of the aussie pitches. if aussies make pitches to suit fast bowlers then you call that 'sporting' and if indians make pitches to suit spinners it is 'doctored'?
a true champion will win everywhere and in every condition - perhaps except where the umpires are biased. the championship results are far from done.

Too many runs in a single day's play
by Nemo on Dec 17, 2008 07:28 PM

SA has lost the initiative by allowing Aus to make 341 in a day.U don't just have to take wickets, you need to control the run rate, sth. the Indians did very well against Australia and England. And look at the success rate.I think SA are in trouble and unless they bat really well tomorrow,it will be an uphill task in this match and the series.

Relenthless Pressure
by Finix on Dec 17, 2008 06:46 PM

SA missed relenthless pressure to be put on australia.after SA got first 3 wickets for not many or rather nothing, they relaxed a bit and starting bowling short and outside the off stump for too long.
But when they realised their wayward or less intensity bowling, morkel bowled full too katch to dismissed him and clarke was out soon after. And again SA relaxed and allowed symonds, haddin to counter attack. If SA think's Symonds' business is not counter attacking when the aussies r in trouble, then their poor preparation is to be cursed.SA didn't attacked these pair and paid the price for it and by the lower order too.

SA will have to bat well in first innings otherwise match is gone for them

India is No.1
by kuldip nair on Dec 17, 2008 06:26 PM  | Hide replies

India is the No.1 team in the world. We can score 1000 runs in 50 overs in ODI & can even chase 2000 runs in 4th inning. We can bowl out any side for 0 runs easily. All our eleven batsmen can score 100 in a single inning..

Happy??? We get small success & we keep on praising it again & again. If i speak against it, I am not a patriot or anti-indian. Some called me south indian lungi (we called aussie racist, then what about the one who commented this to his same country men)or Aussie ka talwe chaatne wala...
I have nothing against Indian cricketers but lets not make them super stars. They are not above the game. Australians play with high intensity over the years for win (Agreed, they have 2 umpires & cheating for it). WE don have to do that but we need to be consistent over a period of time to be No.1. We cant call ourselves No.1 right now. I am a minority right now but then I dont care...

Success does not come in a matter of a single test win or a series win.
It is a constant and continuous process.
For India this is taking place and India is the dominant team especially at home and also doing better overseas.
For India to be No 1 It has to do do consistently well overseas which can be seen after the newzealand tour.

I am sure after that India would be recognized as No. 1 by one and all.

Mr.Nair, you know the difference between an average fan in Australia & an average fan in India? Well a fan in Australia will always support his team (in loss & win) whereas a fan in India will consider it fashionable to sound logical or politically right. What you have stated is not rocket science all of us know it and appreciate it but dude stick with your team else be man enough to face the brickbats and not cry about it...

Ponting came to India with an injured finger and played all 4 test matches. Still playing. But his confidence seems to be very low due to frequent batting failures. But never count him out. He is leading the World No. 1 team for over 5 years and never let them slip. Australia has won 2 WC under his captaincy. This 341-9 is good enough to humble SA in this test match. They have really good players like Clarke, Katich, Symonds and their tail enders, who rise to the occassion. This is the quality of the champion team, lots of cushion.

Tendulkar was able to complete his 41st century, thanks to a dropped catch at point very early in his innings and Yuvraj's support. Even Yuvraj sacrificed his own century for him.Tendulkar's records are largely due to his abstenance from captaincy. Ponting, being captain of the team, he has to do a lot of work.

Do you know about one Saad Bin Jung from Hyderabad who played for South Zone against WI team in 80s against top 4 fastest bowlers at the age of 16 and scored more runs than the a single indian innings score(top order) in that series. He could have been the Legend but for the conspiracy of the super selfish Sunil Gavaskar who is the chief promoter of sachin.Sachin even didn't dare to play against lesser bowlers from same WI a few years later. Careers of many a genius were sacrificed for the sake of Sachin. He can never be a Legend but for his chamca gavaskar ,always biased media.etc.

Shrikanth you are right. Many of those here don't know how many people's career's Sunil Gavaskar has ruined over the years to promote his own men over the years. Sachin didn't dare to play against WI at age of 16 with most of the pace battery gone by his time. But years before him one player for hyderabad faced WI in a match against SZ and score more runs than that scored by the top order of Indian team in the whole series that year. (in each innings not total). Many ask why he didn't succeed later. Ofcourse, Gavaskar used his cronies in Hyd team, to get him hit and run by a vehicle, he was in bed for almost 3 years and never again played cricket. Shame on cricket that they support the cronie of sunil gavaskar, Tendulkar.
