Sachin, greatest cricketer of all time
by seejo paul on Dec 18, 2008 02:28 AM

If I say Sachin is the greatest batsman ever some of the you may disagree. Some may say Bradman is the best, some may say Lara is the best, some may say Ponting is the best.Whatever. But compared to them all, Sachin have another great talent as a cricketer. He is more than a useful bowler. These days his bowling is underutilized at least in test. But thats the thing a captain should decide. So let me put it in a slight different way. SACHIN IS THE GREATEST CRICKETER OF ALL TIME. He is a complete cricketer. Whether its batting, bowling, or fielding. If an Indian cricketer gets respect wherever he goes, thats only Sachin. Sachin is truely a legend.

Sachin has made 41 test hundreds while Don Bradman made only 29 hundreds.....so Sachin is much better than Don Bradman..

Thank you very much!!

bradman was not even half the cricketer sachin is... bradman never played 1-day cricket and destroyed bowling attack, he did not bowl, he did not play on turning tracks of sub-continent... all his runs/100's were scored in familiar surroundings at home grounds of england/australia... there will be many batsman who will have averages of near 100 on their fav ground or a in a particular country... so all this don bradman being the best batsman is big nonsense... forget about being the best cricketer... bradman is way behind in that...

The new Don of cricket

Batting during bradman's time was difficult? Are you kidding me. Spin bowling wasn't common, fielding skills weren't up to todays standards, the coach wasn't going through videos to figure out a batsman's weakness and the list goes on. Bradman was brilliant, but if you take a player with Sachin's skillsets and temperament and put him in any era of cricket, he would still comeout as the best batsman. One cannot say that with Bradman or Sobers. And thats the difference. They are all great players of their time but Sachin is timeless. This alone should prove him to be the best player of all time. Bradman might have an unbeatable average but Sachin holds a record that no one can beat. 12k runs in test and 16k in ODI...Bradman didnt even play an ODI. 18 years of ODI test..can anyone imagine the amount of beating Sachins' body has taken. To keep up such a performance and to hold all the records he does...is simply "above human". And I'm not even a Sachin fan

@vivek-There are a few valid points that you make! But the biggest difference between the Greats like Bradman, Sobers, Richards and Gavaskar was that they played without HELMETS and elbow guars. Sir Vivian Richards said contemptuosly- The day I have to wear a helmet on the cricket field, I will quit! I think apart from Bradman whom I never saw batting, Viv Richards has been the greatest batsman in the world. Even Kapil Dev rates him as the best batsman he has ever bowled to.

I cannot accept more with you....but Vivek...Don and sobers mostly played on uncovered pitches and not so strict rules on bowling bouncers....u will have to give it to them....Best is not to compare them...like how we enjoy a hindi superstar and a hollywood superstar..enjoy it in the same way...

Sachin The Greatest ever
by SREENU RAO on Dec 17, 2008 10:20 AM  | Hide replies

Time and again I have reiterated in these columns that Cricket is a team sport and no one can win a match singlehandedly. I always give the example of Kapil's 175 N.O. against Zimbabwe which would not have been possible without Kirmani's 24 N.O at the other end. Now for all those Sachin haters who have been yelling that Lara is a match winner and Sachin is not, should shut their mouths after this Sachins innings. But though I am an ardent fan of Sachin, I still say that his 100 would not have been possible without the support from Gautam and Yuvi. The greatness of Sachin lies that he is playing under pressure(from a billion people in this country) which no other batsmen has faced in the history of the game and he is been doing that for the past 18/19 years.

Hi

Nobody is saying that Sachin is greater than don, but it is don who said that the way sachin plays resembles the way he used to play. This is a compliment which no other player has received and will receive. Hope this clears things

Boycott Say Bradmans the greatest - I beg to differ
by Andy Louis on Dec 17, 2008 06:37 AM  | Hide replies

In the Bodyline Series Bradman had an average of 56?? What does that mean?? Sachin played more Bodyline than Bradman so who is the greatest?? If you remove the speed and bouncers of Waqar, Brett lee, Donald, Ambrose, Walsh, Akram, Imran, Mcgrath, Merv Hughes, Damien Fleming, Gillespie, Shoaib Akhtar, Fanie D Villiers, Flintoff, Darren Gough, Chaminda Vaas and only a just above billion expectations then I guess Sachin could have gotten an average of 99.96 or whatever Sir Donald had achieved.

Throw out this ASSH*le

Throw out this selfish cricketer and worst captain India has ever produced.

Even tailenders can bat better than him. No youngsters get inspiration from him See Ishant Sharma appreciated Sachin saying Thank god I don't have to bowl to Sachin because Sachin deserves such stuffs as he is greatest.

Look Dravid he is still there in the team not performing even in a single match from last 2 years and still there in the team.

Even Harbhajan and Zaheer can bat much much better than him. Why to see the past reords he performed and earned for that then why he should be there in the team. He doesn't get respect from the players in the team then how come he is there in the team.

Throw out this selfish cricketer. Just warming the benches.

Mr Dravid go and take training from Harbhajan to bat or go to Gully Cricket to learn from kids even they know how to defend the ball. Even they will face less balls than you id**ot
