Indo Pak test series
by tharkabhushanam ramachandran on Dec 16, 2008 10:58 PM  | Hide replies

India and other test playing countries should not travel to Pakistan until the govt. there takes visible and appropriate steps to contain terrorism. It is the muslim community which is suffering from this stigma.

Pakistan was also a cricket playing country. India should forget playing with it now, not even at neutral venews.

kp proves the theory that a good batsman cant become a good capt.
n also the theory that a bad captainship in him wud curb a batsman's natural instinct.
just like the dravid in india. botham in eng.

The truth is somewhere inbetween. Captaincy fits some people well while as with others, it plays havoc with their primary skills. Especially so with Indian captaincy in the recent past. Azhar continued to bat well inspite of the captaincy burden. However, Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid didn't do well with captaincy. Dhoni has only got better with captaincy. It really depends on the individual.

English Players deserve some praise too
by Cool Customer on Dec 16, 2008 08:40 PM  | Hide replies

While it was a great win for India and the media and players basked in glory, I was a little dissappointed to see absence of spirit and compassion from our players, media and supporters.

The England teams deserves credit for keeping the match in play by declaring 9 wicket down and giving us a target to chase more than a day left. It was courageous and enterprising that made the match enjoyable. Besides their effort, they deserve credit for that too. As India grows in stature, we also need to learn to be more compassionate and praiseworthy of others.

Sachin was tremendous with his performance and was magnanimous and gracious in his salute the fallen heroes of Mumbai. I was also hoping someone would praise the English team, specially Peiterson for his leadership and courage to come down so close to the incident. They indeed displayed solidarity with us.

But great job- both the teams and Congratulations to our team once again.

Sure enough the english team came to india despite the sad events in mumbai and needs to appreciated. But still i am amazed that no one has commented about the snooty and boorish behaviour of the english players in general and flintoff in particular. This guy was trying to mock yuvraj and making fun of him..was shocking to the say the least as i don't think any dictionery says that is sporting behaviour. Why is no one commenting about it? Imagine had it been any of the indian players, our beloved media and some of our guys here wd have gone hammer and tongs over our players and even called upon the match refree to punish him. But now u can be rest assured, bhaji, yuvi and company wd give them a taste of their own medicine come mohali!

mr ramakrishnan...it is all part and parcel of the game....and mind you, this match was being played in india...if you r so concerned about this little chirping of flintoff, then you wont be able to digest the chirping which flintoff might be invloved in when match is happening in england, especially to yuvraj....

That is besides the point. It definitely not in keeping with the way the game should be played. mind you for ordinary /petty happenings our players get singled out and penalised. What we are saying is that apply the same yard stick to these people too.

India shd go to Pak and humble them and that would be a fitting reply. This is the best Indian cricket team ever. Once Dravid strikes form (may be next year), it will be a complete team with all departments firing. Pujara shud be the replacement for Dravid and Chawla or Irfan for Mishra (if he doesnt perform well).

Are you crazy?

Why should the Indian Team travel to Pakistan?

The indian team travelling to Pakistan means that Pakistan Board gets an additional revenue which one way or the other reaches for training the terrorists.

The best way to Humble Pakistan is by choking Pakistan for its resources.

Srilanka is not doing good to tem selves by supporting Pakistan. Their decision to travel to Pakistan incase India refuses to travel does not play well for them.

Mind you that will never compensate for the revenue that PCB will generate incase India had travelling.

We the people of this Country Salute the English Cricket Team for the resilence and courage they have shown. We also extend our heartfelt warmth to the fans who have also travelled from England to encourage their team. I personally congratulate the English Team for the maner in which they have played the Test match.
The British People have also gone through a Mumbai like experience and know how it feels to be in such situations and what it requires to come out of such circumstances.

They came for money. Huge money that BCCI offered to them as part of the deal to play the two tests.

Otherwise, their six top cricketers had declined to play the series. All of them including the injured captain suddenly agreed to play the test matches.

Cricketers are coming to India because of money. Pieterson and Ricky Ponting did the same. But they will regret later.

Ponting struggling hard with his health and Pieterson is next.

Dude ... IPL is not postponed indefinitely, but the Champions League is postponed indefinitely.

As for their decision to come back to India, yes, it has to be applauded. Hats off to them.

But what Pradeep mentioned is correct.

KP and Flintoff are the most sought after players for the next IPL. And now, as one official put it, KP can himself quote his price.

If they'd come to play in the IPL and not come for the test series, they would've been called money grabbing players.

But now, they've done their reputition no harm at all. In fact, now they will get selected in the IPL '09 come what may.

Their strategy to tour India is two fold actually.
1. Actually show the world that terrorists won't bother us from playing our sport.
2. Keep the BCCI happy because of its clout in the World Cricket. Thus, their participation in the IPL is guaranteed and they make huge money without being called gold-diggers.
