Hey nameless fuc**kin idi**ot
Argue my point properly. I have given a reasoning so try to answer that. If bradman was uncomfortable against Larwood for lack of Helmet what kind of Helment Gavaskar used?? Just before retirement Sunny used a head guard (which was of hardly any use). Point is Bradman scored at the rate of 56?? in bodyline..I believe Sunny and Sachin are way better than bradman. Technique wise Sachin is way way better than Bradman was, even bradman agreed. Bradman played during an era when the game was not that popular. His all records are in Hometown (even England was a hometown for the Aussies then ). Sachin is way better than any other batsman Cricket has seen.

Sachin has retired....Breaking news.
by Steven on Dec 17, 2008 10:25 AM  | Hide replies

Just heard news that Sachin has retired, he said that he wants to retire on a high and after the test had a long talk with team mates and has decide to call it quits. Well done to a grand master on a wonderful cricketing career. The legend of Sachin will live on forever and never die. For me personally this is a sad day in sporting history. Good luck in the further with you family and life, and thank you for bringing me joy for all these decades.

Hayden - 12
Ponting - 0
M.Hussey - 0

Ponting can't catch Sachin. Soon Aussies selectors will throw him outside the team.

Sachin is great similar to Don Bradman but not less
by Andy Louis on Dec 17, 2008 06:47 AM  | Hide replies

People only look at 99.96 vs 54.60..What they fail to understand is Bodyline...The bowling style was termed disgrace at that time....
Harold Larwood had Bradmans number in that series. Bradman if I remember scored only 1 century and was out to Larwood more than couple of times. But mostly to the fast bowling.. Larwood and Jourdine had figured out the Bradman was uncomfrtable against fast bouncy deliveries. The latest analysis performed on Larwood suggest he was almost as fast as Waqar Younis and the action was almost similar to Waqar. And remember Larwood did not play for England much after Bodyline Series..

In the Bodyline Series Bradman had an average of 56?? What does that mean?? Sachin has played more Bodyline than Bradman ever in his career.. After Bodyline the bouncers were banned and considered bad sport..The West Indies brought the bouncers back during the Gavaskar era..so who is the greatest?? If you remove the speed and bouncers of Waqar, Brett lee, Donald, Ambrose, Walsh, Akram, Imran, Mcgrath, Merv Hughes, Damien Fleming, Gillespie, Shoaib Akhtar, Fanie D Villiers, Flintoff, Darren Gough, Chaminda Vaas and only a just above billion expectations then I guess Sachin could have gotten an average of 99.96 or whatever Sir Donald had achieved.

Overall Sachin has never been anybodys bunny..Like Bradman was of Larwoods..
I dont think anyone will break 99.96 because you will have to remove the bodyline bowling.
I would rather compare 54.60 vs 56.??

Everybody says Don Bradman is great. ITs really rediculous. He does not have greatest bowler to bowl. Anyone say good bowlers name. ALso there was no third umpire to scrutiny the runouts. Particularly during the old times, the aussie umpires never give out to their country players as far as Runout, Stumping and LBW before third umpire technology. But see Sachin tendulkar, he plays great bowlers like Mcgrath, Warne, Lee, Donald, Pollock, Vettori, Murali,Vaas, Jason Gillespie, Akram, etc etc etc Waqar,Akthar, Ambrose, Walsh and scored runs in both forms of Cricket.
So as far as all time list is concerned the first place is Sachin and there is no second and third place is concerned. Fourth will come Ricky Pointing and so on.
Sachins record of 16000 ODI runs and 12000 Test runs and more than 80 International centuruies cannot be compared and it will take a monumental effort to break that effort by any player whose form should be in peak for atleast 15 years like Sachins form is.
DONT SAY DON IS THE BEST.
SACHIN IS THE BEST AND GREATEST OF ALL TIME

Andy you have a point. We need to really understand what Bradmans record was in Bodyline or against Larwood??
If whatever you state is correct then Certainly we should not be underestimating Tendulkar or even Dravid and Gavaskar for that Purpose. But overall Sachin would then rank there with Don.

Let me say that im a fan of Sachin myself. Im thankfull to Sachin for making me and most of the Indians happy with his batting.

But your analysis is completely wrong. During bodyline series there were no helmets, guards etc. Only pad and bat. You cannot compare Sir Bradman's record with that of any current day batsmen who have equipments to protect themselves.

Stop comparing legends with legends. Im content to have watched Sachin in his prime and hope it continues for somemore time..

ANDY LOUIS i think talking nonsence the bowler he names in the sachin era has improve there records because england,pakista,w.indies.n.land are not the same force in batting as they used to be.so it was easier for them to get more wkts...and past bowlers of 40's 50's 60's 70's and 80's were the most lethal bowler to bowl in history,,there were few teams but all were strong...and for ur information...bradman doesnot have as much guard to protect his body as nowsdays batsman has.....even if u compare bodyline avve of bradman vs sachin avv btadman is well ahead

Cricket is a team game - for heavens sake!
by Talisman on Dec 17, 2008 03:49 AM  | Hide replies

There are ignomorouses here that forget that cricket is a team game and one person doesnt win a match all by himself.

These people I am sure cannot even win a friednly office game all by themselves let alone an international game.

The contribution of Sachin to win this game is tremendous. He was phenominal. We are lucky to have someone like Sewag in our team that can not only dream, but also make it into a reality. Great team effort from all including Yuvi, who did well to put his head down.

Go look at this graph before you start talking...

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9a/Sachin_Tendulkar_graph.png

Except for a brief period in 2006-2007, his average over the last 10 innings has always been great! It is actualy climbing currently towards 80...

Sachin should play as long as he is capable of providing results like these.

Sachin with this kind of form and fitness, he can play upto 40 years( jayasurya not yet retired,he also played 16 years, hayden also is 38).
If sachin plays upto 2013, he will have a carrer statistics as follows
Test cricket:
16500 to 17000 runs with 58 to 60 centuries and 70 half centuries.
ODI cricket:
21000 t 21500 runs with 58 to 62 centuries and around 130 half centuries.
JUST IMAGINE THIS RECORD.
NO BODY WILL THINK OF BREAKING THIS RECORD AND IF ANYONE NEED TO BREAK THAT RECORD( EVEN NOW ITS DIFFICULT TO BREAK THE CURRENT RECORD), A PLAYER HAS TO BE CONSISTENT FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS AND ITS HIGHLY IMPOSSIBLE.
SO SACHIN DONT THINK ABOUT MEDIAS AND THIS IDIOTIC PEOPLE. PLAY AS PER YOUR WISH AND RETIRE WHENEVER YOU REQUIRE. BUT PLAY CRICKET UPTO 2012. DONT THINK OF RETIRING BEFORE THAT.
BE INDIAN AND HAPPY TO BE AN INDIAN OF SACHIN ERA
