this fellow could never come to terms with the fact that Sachin Tendulkar was a better batsman than him.. technique, temperament and class.. not having the guts to openly criticise (aka Sunil Gavaskar, who never hesitates in speaking out his mind..), I have seen Sanjay Manjrekar always making veiled comments to invariably downplay the greatness of Tendulkar... even when Sachin plays a great knock, you can literally sense the reluctance in this chap's voice as he tries to appreciate him.. "Sanjay Jealous Manjrekar.."!!
Sachin critics are a bunch of jokers.This is what i remember of sachin. He played his first match at age 16. He was hit on the face in his first match by a waqar younis delivery and bleeding profusely but he hit the next ball for 4. On the same tour he scored 27 runs in an over of Abdul qadir. Scored a century against england at age 17 and saved the game for India. Scored 100 at perth at age of 18. His 52 in the 92 world cup won helped us win against pakistan.. Butchered Newzealand with 82 of 49 balls.India won the game. Scored first one day 100 against Australia in 1994 in srilanks.India won Single handedly took India to semifinals of 1996 world cup. Scored 2 hundreds against Australia in India in 1998.India won the series 2-1. Scored two back to back centuries in sharjah against Australia.India won the tournament. Played 99 world cup inspite of losing his father. Took India to brink of victory against pak in chennai scoring 136.Last 5 Indian wickets contributed only 15 and India lost. Took India to final of Natwest trophy in England with centuries against England and Srilanka. Single handedly took India to finals of 2003 world cup.Bowlers gave away 358 runs in final which we lost. Contributed significantly in Indias wins against Australia and Pak in 2003/2004. Scored 117 and 92 in finals of one day series in Australia.India won His 73 in first innings at perth won the game for india. Scored 103 against england chasing 387.India won

Sachin is great,all right but why demean others efforts. What you are citing was not due to Sachin alone. Like in 2003 world cup: It seems from your writings that only Sachin played and all other were onlookers. All did their part inlcuidng bowlers. All failed collectively in finals (except Sehwag) inlcuding Sachin. So while writing about him be rational and don't try to paint a picture where we have only one player. This is a team game. Here in Chennai test too Sachin's effort was outstanding but then Yuvi, Sehwag, Zaheer, Isshant, Dhoni all contributed to the cause.

I do not think "great maratha" has demeaned anyone, do you? Has he said: Yuvraj didnt play well or Zaheer didnt bowl well?
He has admiration for Sachin and has accoladed him for that: period.
I do not understand the "demean others" at all..
"great maratha" also has not said that the others' conribution was ignorable..

Well said Anil.... A very recent example where Veeru played a class inns and sachin got MOM was adeleide test where veeru scored 62 and 152 and 3 wickets including one of ponting..didnt get MOM , instead sachin scored 150 and < 10...and he got..many many occasions like that.......this time I was eagerly waiting for the presentation to see whether they will ignore him again and luckily it didnt happen..! Cheers Veeru - this man is going to become WORLD'S BEST BATSMAN in few more years......MIND YOU ~ He has 5-6 more years of cricket left in him.......which is great for indian cricket....

SACHIN HAS BEEN PLAYING SINCE 1989, BUT WE HAVE STARTED WINNING ONLY SINCE 2001, WITH THE ARRIVAL OF VIRU. BEFORE HIS ARRIVAL NO ONE COULD THINK OF WINNING MAN OF MATCHES WITH THE PRESENCE OF SACHIN, BUT VIRU IS AMAZING, HE PUTS UP SUCH STELLAR PERFORMANCES, THAT JAWS DROP, & ALL OTHER PERFORMANCES ARE OVERSHADOWED. IT IS BECAUSE OF HIM THAT THE TEAMS STARS HAVE SOARED. HE WAS THE ONE WHO THOUGHT A WIN WAS POSSIBLE & SET ABOUT SETTING THE PACE FOR IT. IF HE HADNT PERFORMED, THE MATCH WOULD HAVE ENDED IN A TAME DRAW OR THE OTHERS FOLLOWING HIM WOULD HAVE WILTED UNDER PRESSURE.

I think Dravid should be rested for domestic cricket, till he gets back to form (hope never)...misses catches, poor run...see his face during the match..he does not even show any team spirits...

he is very right ... y r u angry man .... be fair ... its alright that you are his fan that doesn't mean that he is allowed to play without any performance ... its almost year that he has not performed ... this shows that people, bcci and everyone were biased ... why is it so that every one was pointing fingers towards Ganguly even though he was the most consistent player during the whole year and half... Dravid should retire or should be rested for his non-performances... he is now a burden and its of no use carrying this burden ...
