Cheers to Indian team
by aditya jain on Dec 16, 2008 08:56 AM  | Hide replies

No doubt Sachin played a big innings. But its irritating that everyone forget Viru & Yuvi. Without the Viru' s innings i think India would have lost the match or ended in a draw

Guys, how can everyone does what Shewag does. He did his job and then Sachin did his part. Did you forget the first innings when India was 39/3 Sachin and Laxman gave a useful partnership to get to 100 , so everyone did their part. Yuvraj also played a splendid innings no doubt about that..but Sachin is the big factor after loosing dravid and Gambir early in the day..kept 3 partnerships..and stayed there until the end. Ofcourse Shewag performance is magnificent..he was deservly got the MOM. but Sachin's innings also up there. No question on that. If you check the video you will know it is not an easier pitch to bat on..and Sachin and others really struggled to get their runs..Shewag of course we all know what he is capable of..just praise everyone guys..

KUDOS TO INDIAN TEAM
by Khalid Moosa on Dec 16, 2008 12:43 AM  | Hide replies

Hats off To the Entire Indian Team for such an astounding victory against all odds. But what hurts me is that after completion of day 3 the entire media started cursing our batsmen which was so pathetic these boys had just routed the Ausssie boys 2-0 and just one bad day at office and the media started the regular backlash . Let us respect our hereos what Sehwag did was unthinkable and what Sachin did was marvellous Now we all want him to get a 300 score and lead Indian team to many more wins. Kudos dhoni and boys you guyz rocked Period.

Dismantling of the WALL
by Nemo on Dec 15, 2008 10:33 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid is a legend,of that there's no doubt. But what's ailing him? And more importantly can he ever recover? There's a reason Australian greats retired at a time when they were still fluent. They knew they were not getting younger and their thirst and passion for the game was also on the decline.Contrast this with Dravid's current body language and form. His predicament is beyond words. What's Dravid waiting for? There's a point to which legends can hold back criticism. But by still playing Dravid is dismantling the great WALL he has been for Indian cricket for so long.Hope he realises the great decision Kumble made in the last series and bows out before the selectors are forced to humiliate him.Neither he nor us deserve this.

I agree with you word by word. He is a player beyond class and should retire gracefully.

Poor Rahul ! He's the only one who failed;he's a class player & will rebound. Maybe he shd take a break(after Mohali), go back to basics(& consult people like Jimmy Amarnath, Sunny Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri) about how to get out of the rut.
I'll pray that he does well in 2nd Test.

I dont think Amarnath, Gavaskar and Shashtri can help him, he has to get to basic, play Ranji matches and take a break. I think he is not a 100% in the game, hes been dropping catches too. Which was rare? If he was only 30 then it would make sense to wait for him and let him get back his form, but now its difficult considering hes 36 years old and maybe can play for a year anyways even if he was in form...

He has no place in Karnataka team which is doing so well and he has to play some district level games and then earn a place in karnataka team!

Peterson deserves this.
by Ganesh P on Dec 15, 2008 10:04 PM

We discuss a lot abt Indian players progress. One of the Main reason for England's Peterson. Being Captain of his team, he should have played better in any of the innings. His total(5) far is less than Dravid. He was the only player who didnt do any thing(apart from captain ship) to save his team

India scored 250 runs on last day of the match and England scored 229 on first day.
That made difference.
In both innings, england never looked to dominate bowling n score quickly.

The fielding settings made them a costly miss. the field is very wide having deep square and long on wen the spinners are opeating... it will make the batsmen to just casually play with soft hands fr easy singles.. thats where INDIAN batsmen took the game away from them. the fielding setting is the costliest miss fr them. if he did not change this in the upcoming match then surely we will beat them again easily
