England's Cricket team visiting India is one of the few good deeds that the Britishers have done for the Indians - next to getting out of the country in 1947.

Though even this has an internal "Security" and "Image" angle to it, but as individuals, these Cricketer's have done a fine job...

INDIA WIN TIMELY
by damodaran mohan on Dec 16, 2008 03:36 PM

The Indian win was timely coming in the aftermath of the depressing M- terror attack. However the english team deserves all the credit and gratitude of the nation for having returned to play under such trying circumstances. The success of the Chennai test is a slap on the face of Pak sponsored terror war being waged against a friendly neighbour. We Indians should not tolerate this barbaric behaviour of our neighbours and it must be made amply clear to them that cricket and terror cannot go hand in hand.During the last four years we laid the red carpets to their cricketers--BCCI as well as ICL matches, but look what we get in return ? Unless the Pakistanis are prepared to live like civilized people, there is no question of any cricketing ties or friendship .

altho it's quite uncharacteristic for me to write under this subject,we must appreciate engalnd team for coming back and making cricket the winner. Xenophobia is common in western world and even after severe terror attacks it requires guts and character of the individual..Your England team is full of individuals and gentlemen Mr.Moore..Hope, OZs will learn something and stop preaching themselves as the meesagner of the game..it's like mohmmad is messanger by allah..

That's not true totally, Bhanu. The BCCI I heard has given (or about to give) 1Cr to the victims of Mumbai Attacks. Yes, I do agree to the extent that the Millionaires of Indian Cricket didn't take a penny out of their pockets towards the cause.

BCCI gave 3 cr
Indian team donated their entire series money (individual players decision) and if they win the series, any MOM all that money is donated.
get the information correct. If we Indians dont think abt India no one can.
MS Dhoni when asked, said I don't want to announce what and how much we are distributing, we will do what we need to do. Only thing is that we will not publicise it.

Cnennai Test
by Venkateswaran Viswanathan on Dec 16, 2008 09:56 AM  | Hide replies

We must appreciate the English Cricket Board and all the English players for having returned to India and play the game despite testing conditions . The atmosphere was not good for any game but ultimately they have come here in honour of those who lost their lives in the ghastardly terror strike. I am personally moved by the manner in which they have come and stood by this hour to give us moral support.

What the Britishers did to our country before indenpendance is still fresh in our memory. They cut our country into pieces but these common people have come to stand by us and we should thank them. Win or loss is not the criteria , it is the game that has won and not any individual team.

The British actually did unite several kingdoms into one India. They united, formed one India and ruled it.

Well Done Poms!
by apoorva vora on Dec 16, 2008 09:55 AM

Dear Mr Moore, you and your team deserve a pat on the back, for more than one reasons. For braving the threat, for the magnanimous gesture, for conducting themselves on and off the field in an examplary fashion and for a great fight on the field. Well, our team is in a formidable form currently so may be the outcome of the game was not in your favour but your wards have won the hearts of a billion Indians. Compare that with the team led by a certain Mr Ponting and your team has brought about a refreshing change. Thanx a lot for providing us with a helluva test match.

Cricket the real winner
by Pawan Singh on Dec 16, 2008 09:27 AM

Dear Mr.Moores, the English and the Indian teams played so that the game would win. When contrasted with some of the other matches played recently I would say that requires great maturity and skill. Congrats to both teams.

I wish Pietersen gets back into rhythm by Mohali to enable you folks enjoy the fight a bit more.
