Protection to Public
by ramamurthy suresh on Dec 09, 2008 09:09 PM

First try to give security to the local public people. Then u can give protection to V.I.P s and cricketers, politicians etc. Otherwise anything can happen as that happened in Mumbai

Mahim,
Contrary to what you think, all of us are concerned about whats happening in our country today. Cricket is just an escape for all of us, because life is so grim. I hope you realize even though u r in sydney, you will always be a 2nd class citizen there. Only your country and countrymen truly love you

It happens only in India and Selectors also should be blamed
by fff on Dec 09, 2008 04:40 PM  | Hide replies

I think the Selectors in India are not brave enough.

You see in other countries like Australia, South Africa, etc, the seniors whom they feel unfit to play are mercilessly thrown.

Even players like Steve Waugh was made to sit out of ODI just after 1 failure. Mark Waugh was dropped completely due to drooping of form (This can never happen in India). That\'s why they were able to keep producing talented cricketers time and again.

One of the good cricketers like Damien Martin is not there in Australia today. This shows that the selectors and people react to the talent.

Now Australia is down, because they can\'t find replacements for super seniors like McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist, etc, because these champions were at the peak when they retired, and they retired because of broadmindedness to promote youngsters in order to automatically look for high-standards, rather than youngsters feeling that \"Oh, we only replaced the useless seniors! We can take our time and enjoy...\"

India has to react soon by tightening in all departments and reach the No.1 spot soon while Australia is still struggling. There is no room for selfishness, sadistic pleasures at this point of time.

Thats a good point. Though i think that Vengsakar & co did a fine job by blooding youth. The same cannot be said about Kris and the new selectors. They should put pressure on Dravid to retire soon.

Sachin till 2011 World Cup
by J Jena on Dec 09, 2008 04:19 PM  | Hide replies

There is one record which is missing from Sachin's list is no of World Cup appearances.

Miandad has 6 (1975,79,83,87,92,96) Sachin has 5 (1992,96,99,03, 07)

Miandad was a hero in 92 World cup victory, but was a joke in 96.

Sachin may reverse the trend, he was a joke in 07 may become a hero in 2011 by winning World Cup for India in 2011.

He shouldn't have played tn 2007, still played at the expense of Team India's fortune. Same will apply in 2011 too.

Like Ganguly blocked Yuvraj. Now Pujara and Raina is wasting.

Raina is like a deer on field. It would take Indian-Test Team to different level. Indian Test Team will teach the entire World-Cricket-History that there can't be a term called "Draw" in Test Matches.

Re: fff

Thanks for noting my concern.

Its high time "Pujara" is given a chance in Test-Matches (Not in ODIs or IPL. He is player made for Test-Matches. I have watched his innings closely and I'm not barking here without any valid reasons). If he doesn't perform (after a season), send him back to domestic cricket and allow to tighten (he will not be disheartened by this, because he would know that getting one chance to play for the country is itself a big honor).

It is important that these players get the chance at top-level straight away without asking to wait, because they can learn quickly. If you don't do that, you are simply wasting an emerging talent. You should remember that even Sachin made such big name only because he got exposure at the right time. So why double standards to players of this era?

Yes, you are right. So, whichever senior doesn't like rotation should be permanently kicked out from the team mercilessly.

BTW, "Rotation" does not mean "You play when I'm injured", "You play when I'm fatigue", "You play when I'm not interested", "You play when there is no scope for my stats", etc.

Seniors don't like "rotation" because they are threatened that it would "terminate" their career.
