Only fringe player who underperform are not interested
by cracy on Dec 03, 2008 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

The player are giving the right signal they earn all these because people risk a lot of their life to make them star. Looking at the list of player cork is saying it looks like they are afraid about their own form anderson will be gifting century to sehwag looking at this form harmison was also no different both were competing in who can give more runs to India. Swann still needs to knwo what a spinner is supposed to do. Of course its sad that flintoff who better among the players and his opting out will defiantely make him no no for IPL atleast he cann't claim the money he is worth. Anyway on hindside no place is safe england to have terrorist attack so if sports are paying the price of terror probably it will be more darker days with a lot more of fun that will be snatch away from common people.

What I fail to understand that when India was fighting for it's independance against the brits our freedom fighters were terrorists in their terms and that too more dangerous because the brits were the only targets then. Still they hung on for 90 years (after 1857 sepoy mutiny to 1947) and tortured our heroes then to death. And now even if a bomb goes off 500 Km away from them they feel insecured and are afraid. This brings me to another conclusion.... The English are actually a hopeless team for the last two decades and they are only afraid and ashamed of loosing to sub-continent teams like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka whom once they used to consider as their slaves. Grow up man and dont act as cry babys. No place in this earth is safe now given the current situation. Why blame India then for your short comings. Be sport and act matured rather than pointing fingers and claiming as if this place alone is a hell and no body should visit here.

1857 sepoy mutiny is a disrespectful term used by Britishers. For India it was the First war of Independence. Please dont call it a mutiny

england players say they have families and kids,

the umpires, officials,Indian players dont they have any families or kids

did Aussies abandon their ashes test series in 2005 after London tube attacks

they were saying they been in taj and the memories of it are scaring them right dude, all indian players have been in taj more than england players ,they r not scared or pissing in their pants like england players

this team is mentally weaker then any minnow team in the world

Double standards by ECB
by varun on Dec 03, 2008 04:24 PM

we have to commend the ecb for coming back to play in a country which is yet recovering from it's worst terror attack, however sending a 2'nd string side won't help and if their players are not happy then they should cancel the tour instead of this drama. How can one player's life be more important than other. I thought the decision of the ecb to continue the test series was gr8 becoz it sent the right signals to the world of cricket but if they don't come in full-strength then it'll only send the signal that they want to go-ahead with the series becoz of sponsorship and avoid huge compensation.

Can't miss IPL
by Arindam Roy on Dec 03, 2008 04:19 PM

All the England players are desperate to play in the IPL, if permitted to do so by the ECB. But they are reluctant to play test in India. This means only money matters to them, not their lives.

They should also remember that India didn't return back from England when there was a terrorist attack in Glasgow airport during the tour last year. India had to play a match at Glasgow against Pakistan, which was eventually washed out due to heavy rain. This ODI was scheduled even before test series started. An airport is also a high security place, even more than the Taj & Oberoi in Mumbai.

If they don't return for the test series, I think they shouldn't be allowed by the BCCI to play in the IPL, even if they are permitted by the ECB.

by HBK on Dec 03, 2008 03:36 PM

Though i understand that they are scared for their lives and they don't want risk but these were the 2 guys who were going Ga-Ga over IPL.They were desperate to do anything to join IPL.They were saying this on behalf of england players. Now what happened. This isn't the first terror attack on India or Mumbai. Many bomb blast had happened earlier also.If they have guts they will come here not only for IPL but also for test series.Even aussies played in india even though many blast took place during their tour.I guess they are more scared becoz attack took place on the hotels where they were going to stay.

Cant blame them
by M B Desai on Dec 03, 2008 03:31 PM  | Hide replies

No one should blame the English cricketer. The attacks have shown the weakness in Indian internal security and they have a right to refuse going to India especially when luxury hotels and American/British citizens have been targeted.

There is no bravery in going to an unsafe place. They are cricketers not soldiers.

First thing is they don't want to be cribbed by English media for losing Tests also. They got a pretty good excuse to escape the tour.
