Cricket is a team game
by Michael Ponnudurai on Aug 28, 2008 02:12 PM  | Hide replies

Once it has been proved that cricket is a team game. Sri Lanka must have learnt a lesson that one Mendis, even combined with Murali cannot win games for them. Most members of the team need to fire in all departments for teams to win consistently. Depedence on one or two members will not help

Great win
by Michael Ponnudurai on Aug 28, 2008 02:09 PM  | Hide replies

It is a great series win considering India started the series with a disasterous loss. I expected if Mendis had his way, India may never recover. Now Mendis has been tamed and put in place at least in ODIs
Creditable performance. Kudos to Dhoni and his team

You are right. Kaif is better than Badrinath. He has finished some matches with Dravid in past. He is good match finisher like Dhoni. He deserve one more chance.

Kaif like Dhoni? Why do u people talk like idiots? He finished just one game with yuvi that too some 7-8 years back after that he failed misrably. How many years do u want to carry that legacy?

He has finished so many matches with Dravid like in Pak tour 2004 4th ODI(Do or die match). In chappel coachin he has made runs with more than 40 avg.
I am talking about his avbility to match finishing like Dhoni. I am not talking he plays like Dhoni.

Not one game Mr Tushar please think in 2002 mini world cup when india playing against zimbabwe, india were 85/5 when kaif stepped in he had a century 111 not out and india made to the finals of icc mini world cup and another game is with pakistan when we were 2 - 2 down in the series kaif along with dravid got india through and many more matches he helped india to victory. Okay Mr Tushar

Thanks anurag atleast u have welcomed my comment. thanks once again. Many players have comeback and performed very well for the nation like sehwag ganguly etc. So kaif deserves a chance. So selectors include kaif in the australian series to bring back his confidence.

How many chances are given to Kaif friends, but he failed. VVS Laxman is a good batsman than these guys, even some other foreign players are also says it.

Suggestion for last match
by Crick fan on Aug 28, 2008 01:59 PM  | Hide replies

We have won the series and its a great feeling. Just a small suggestion for last match. May be drop Gambhir 2 down, open with Yuvraj and put Raina 1 st down.
Reason, Gambhir is another guy other than Dhoni and Raina very comfortable against spinners. He will be able to score off them with ease. Yuvraj has beyond doubt put it on wall that he is not good on spin. Opening would give him chace to play in and also score some runs before spinners come in.

I feel Yuvraj should come at 6 or 7 in last match when only 8-10 overs remaining. When he will play naturally he will got his confidence back. He is in good touch but only need some confidence.

I am not against anyone, I just believe "Perform OR Persih"....Now looking at Kaifs performance and a long gap He cant rejoind in a similar fashion what he used too.

Rather we do have lot of talented player which are awaiting their turn to get establish..

Optimism comes in picture where u have no choice, here its a different case, u ve plenty of time and choice to select star player for WC-11.....

Dhoni bashers.........

Dhoni bashers were telling before ODI series that Dhoni fears from Mendis. He knew we will lost the series. He can't play Mendis.
What happen?
Three back to back match winning knock by Dhoni, all in pressure. We have won the ODI series(without Sachin, Sehwag,Ishant) with 1 match remaining.
What you say now?

Why didnt he play in Test matches?

Is it for rest. Did he skip any match in IPL league?

Argentine footballer Lionel Messi didnt mind his clubs restriction (infact which paid huge amount), he played for his country.

That is the commitment.

its better to miss a series citing phsical, personal, financial, pyschological reasans than forcibily occupy a slot like ganguly, sachin even if they themselves know that they are past their prime and virutally killing the careers of many youngsters.

Only Jayawardene, But Tushara, Mendis, Fernando, Zaheer, P.Kumar, Bhajji look at their bowling average in the series. And then look all the batsman average in the seriers. Only Dhoni got 48 avg. All other batsnam are below 35. Most of below 20.
