Look at proper perspective
by PRABHAKAR BV on Aug 28, 2008 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

We hv not seen Don batting, so we cannot comment on his batting skills but rely on the media reports. However, I think it could hv been easier those days to score runs in an era where BAT USED TO DOMINATE BALL. But now BALL DOMINATES BAT and the bowlers have become more clever with extra weapons such as DOOSRA, REVERSE SWING, etc., We had great bowlers like Richard Hadlee, Imran Khan, McGrath, Micahel Holding, Garner, Roberts, Ambrose, Walsh, Muralidharan, Wasim Akram, etc., in the last 2 to 3 decades. I think batsmen who have scored more runs in this BOWLER DOMINATED ERA are greater than DON BRADMAN's days. Eg., Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin

Don became popular in India only after he praised Sachin....its a PR stunt..at his age(he was 86 or 85)its hardly possible for him to see a match in tv and know who is playing who but our people love his judgement cause he praised sachin..
if he said Ponting was better then everyone will say Don is a racist..

Cricket will not last long
by Infidel Blogger on Aug 28, 2008 11:24 AM

Cricket as a game is not going to last long. There are many other sports (like Badminton, tennis, TT, boxing, rowing, cycling, track and field) that needs to be encouraged at the state level so that youngsters can take to such sports.
Cricket the game left by the colonists should be put in the back burner as it is a pure waste of time and money.
Also it is played by a few nations (most of which are third world countries) that hardly matter in this world.

WE INDIANS NEED TO LEARN FROM AUSTRALIA THA ART OF RESPECTING GREATS
by SURYAPRAKASH TATA on Aug 28, 2008 10:28 AM

Really it is great and good and we indians need to learn from Australia about how to respect a great player. Really i too salute Don for his contribution and achievement in cricket which is unassailable. at the same time in comtemparary cricket india did have produced all time greats but unfortunately our boards simply ill treating them.

1. SUNIL MANOHAR GAVASKAR-TECHNICALLY THE BEST AND SOUND BATSMAN THAT WORLD HAVE EVER PRODUCED ON ANY KIND OF PITCH AND HIS STRAIGHT DRIVE IS EVEN TODAY EQUALLY FAMOUS.
WE DONT HAVE RESPET TO HIM AT ALL.
2. KAPIL DEV - ONE OF THE WORLDS BEST SWING EXPONENTS AND A FIGHTING SPIRITUAL LEADER ALWAYS.
OUR BOARD FAILED TO RECOGNISE HIM AND WE SAW AN REVOLT FROM HIM TODAY AND BOARD IS STILL TRYING TO FOOL HIM.

3. SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR: TERMED AS SECOND DON AND DON HIMSELF SAID WHEN HE SEE SACHIN HE FEELS LIKE HE IS PLAYING. AN SHEER ENTERTAINER AND THE MAN BEHIND THE FLIGHT OF INDIAN ONE DAY CRICKET OVER A TWO DECADES.

NOW OUR BOARD IS TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO FORCE HIM TO RETIRE FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET OR TRYING TO DROP HIM OUT.

OF COURSE RAVI SASTHRI WHO IS BORN LEADER WAS NEVER BEEN GIVEN A FULL TIME OFFER TO LEAD THE TEAM AT ALL.
VENGY, KRISH, JIMMY(RIGHTLY CALLED SELECTORS JOKERS) AND THE INSULTS FACED BY THEM WERE INEVITABLE.

NOW DHONI THE MAIN CULPRIT OF INDIAN CRICKET SPOILING ENTIRE TEAM BY NOT ALLOWING ANY PLAYER TO SETTLE DOWN. IF U SEE NUMBER OF NEW PLAYERS COMING IN INDICATES THAT.

Is 258 sufficient on this wicket or we are short 20 runs?
Are Dhoni and Raina played extremely well on this wicket or our lower order played so bad?

You can't expect the lower order to do the rescuing act every time the top order falters and for that matter when top order shines. They were left with less than 10 overs.
