India will win the series
by Harinder Singh Mehbub on Aug 21, 2008 10:54 PM

Especially if India wins the toss and sends SL to bat. The wicket in SL has been favoring pacers in the early going. Ajantha and Murali will get their wickets any way.

It's becoming practice of loosing cricket teams captain to say they were short by 30-40 runs, even if they loose scoring 300 runs. Any way's good luck to Mahela.

Yes thats true, shame on Mahela for saying he needed just 175 to win the game, what does he expect?Mendis and Murali should bowl the indians out just for 175 or less?no wonder his team finished with 140ish score.if u aim for 175 all u get isthis/.wake up Mahela dont become a loser,u and ur team r on a roll dont get too complacent or else ull end up like us...losing 18 finals and numerous test series boasting on past glories and aiming for less

I dont think any captain would think of making just 175 before starting to bat even though the average score on this wicket is 171, so I dont believe Mahela's words. But I do think that if SL had scored 175 they would surely have won. These days the Indian batsmen are struggling to score 150 against Mendis and Murali even on batting pitches. This win was far from convincing, though the bowlers excelled, the batting looks abysmal. There is no reliable opening pair and even the middle order looks suspect. Raina is totally incosistent, needs a right attitude and a willingness to stay at the wicket if he is to surive at this level for long, otherwise he will be out sooner than he thinks. Yuvraj has proved once again that he lacks the skills to play a good spinner. Rohit Sharma is looking out of sorts, perhaps he is still in T20 mood. Virat Kohli, despite his 37 is still very raw and needs to be groomed for future, perhaps he will be turn out good after playing 1-2 years of domestic cricket. Dont think he is ready for international games. Badrinath looks pretty cool , though I am not sure if he can score really quickly when needed, but should be persisted with. He looks really good for tests.
