Stop these Bogus Cricket
by kontu P on Aug 24, 2008 10:55 PM

How many times India plays with Sri Lanka, Pak, Aus etc in a year? The absolutely boring and bogus cricket with same boring characters repeats year long. Time to focus on other sports as India performs best ever in recent Beijing Olympic with one gold and two bronzes. Hey India, you have enough sports geniuses, please stop bogus cricket, find the sports geniuses, pay attention to them and get ready to glorify yourself in font of the world! Chuk De India in 2012 London Olympic. My warmest congratulation to Indian Olympic Heroes !!

Canada seeks Indian cricket expertise.........
by Anurag Rathore on Aug 22, 2008 11:57 AM  | Hide replies

After recognising cricket as its national sport, Canada is now seeking Indian expertise to develop the game in the country.

"Canada needs expertise of Indian coaches and Test players to help the country in achieving excellence in this game," Cricket Canada Chief Executive Officer Atul Ahuja said after hosting a reception in honour of cricket players participating in the first-day international tri-series being held here.

He said the BCCI should appreciate it that it was in the interest of cricket to invest in neutral country like Canada so that Cricket could be played in all seasons.

Failures of some players more acceptable than others
by The Legionnaire on Aug 22, 2008 04:20 AM  | Hide replies

I often wonder why some players are given more chances then others. Take the cases of two cricketers Virender Sehwag and Mohd. Kaif. A year ago Sehwag was out in cold, out of form, a test discard. Out of nowhere Sehwag made a wild card entry into Indian team and what has followed ever since we all know a dramatic turnaround of Virender Sehwag. I wonder what had driven selectors' thinking when they drafted out of form Sehwag into Indian team.

Can Mohd. Kaif ever imagine to make this kind of entry in Indian team? I reckon even when he was in best of forms he was just one or two failures away from being dropped.

So the food for thought: Is failures of some player more acceptable than others?

I feel yes, one plausible reason comes to my mind is the impact a player makes on team. When Sehwag scores a hundred it would be in a manner that it destroys the opposition's morale and would thrust India into a match winning position. So even if Sehwag fails more often than not whenever its his day it will provide India the best chance to impose itself on the opposition and ofcouse a match winning total. Even when he is in worst of forms opposition fears him, as he is like a sleeping volcano, you never know when it erupts!

Mohd. Kaif's role appears more of a rescue operation guy. He bats in lower order. If he comes early that means India is in trouble, if he comes late that would invariably mean India need quick runs or in a test match close to declaration. His batting is tech

Mohd. Kaif's role appears more of a rescue operation guy. He bats in lower order. If he comes early that means India is in trouble, if he comes late that would invariably mean India need quick runs or in a test match close to declaration. His batting is technically correct but the X-factor is missing so his batting would not capture the same kind of imagination as Sehwag's. One can't associate adjectives like fear, destruction with Kaif's batting. His approach is more cultured and classy.

I feel both Kaif and Sehwag are equally talented but given the equal number of failures Sehwag is likely to get more chances than him because of the sheer impact he makes.

What are your thoughts ....

Kaif is good player. He is better than useless R.Sharma.
Sehwag is not consistent in ODI. This time he is in good form but I am sure after 1-2 tournaments he will again struggle in ODI like he alway does.

Kaif had enough failures in his career. At one point he had about 10 failures in a row. All single digit scores. He hardly rotated strike. He was not able to play big shots when required. He just was not fit enough to be in ODIs. He was there in the side longer than he deserved to be purely because of his fielding.

Great confidence...........

"You can look into the eyes of the opponent and say that if we play good cricket we can definitely beat you. So, it is all about confidence and mind set and be in a positive frame of mind," said the Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni after levelling the series 1-1.

Keep it up.

Dhoni on Badrinath:
Badri is very talented and that’s why he’s here. He has performed very well on the domestic circuit and on ‘A’ tours. It’s good to have him. It was his first game and he was under pressure, especially playing Murali and Mendis. I thought he played them very well. He took up the challenge, took the responsibility and scored those runs. He showed some character out there.

Looks like you cant keep Sachin out of your dreams, hate him, criticize him at every opportunity even if the comments above are nowhere related to Sachin. Keep going but no amount of your hatred for him would change anything.

Yeah That seems to be a good idea to give the Spinner Ojha a Chance to bowl and give some rest to Rohit Sharma.

Dhoni has more confidence in Irfan, so most possibly we will see Irfan rather than Ojha.
But it's sure we will perform much better in next match and will win more comfortably.
